Stampin’ Up! Falling in Love with Succulents

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope that your weekend is starting off well – we’ve got some rain and thunder boomers expected today.  So that’ll be fun…  But it’s still in the low 70’s, so I’m not complaining.

Much.

I’ve managed to catch a cold from Wayne (we share everything, apparently!).  So, we didn’t do much yesterday – except watch the Inauguration.  And let Finn out to play in the pond.  We didn’t tell him to play in the pond (he probably would not have if we’d tried!).  He’s becoming quite the pond aficionado….

I don’t know if y’all are out on Pinterest, but if you are, I know you’ve seen the beautiful flowers folks are making with the new Succulent Framelits.  I’ve been wanting to try one of my own, so that’s what I did today, using the Oh So Succulent bundle (10% off plus my 25% Demonstrator discount?  Yes, please!).  To my Succulent, I added a little Falling in Love DSP, a smidge of Flourish Thinlits, and just a hint of Thankful Thoughts.  Take a look-see:

I played along with the MFT Card Challenge sketch  this week.

And my color palette is from the Fab Friday color challenge.

So – this one was really easy!

I started with a piece of the Falling In Love DSP, and cut the long edgelit die from the Flourish Thinlits set from the edge.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere that panel to a Very Vanilla mat.  I cut a second Flourish Thinlit from some Sweet Sugarplum card stock, and used more little dabs of Liquid Glue to adhere it in the card front cut out (write that five times fast!).

Next up is a new Lace Doily, adhered with Liquid Glue with the Very Vanilla side up.

I made a sentiment banner by stamping a sentiment from Thankful Thoughts in Sweet Sugarplum on a Very Vanilla strip, which I bannerized with my Paper Snips. Then I sponged the edges of the banner with a Sponge Dauber in Sweet Sugarplum and adhered it to the card front, as well.  I also stamped two Oh So Succulent banners in Soft Sky and cut them out with the matching Succulent Framelits die.  Those were also adhered with some Liquid Glue.

Finally – finally! – it was time to make my succulent!  I used the three solid flower dies in the Succulent Framelits, cutting two of each size in Soft Sky card stock.  Then I sponged all the edges with my Sweet Sugarplum Sponge Dauber.  I carefully curled all the petal tips with my Bone Folder.

I stacked them all up with Liquid Glue between the flowers and then adhered it to the card front with yet more Liquid Glue.

I used my almost-dry Sweet Sugarplum Sponge Dauber to add some color to the center of the flower and then added a Falling In Love Embellishment with a Glue Dot.

I SNAILd the card front to another mat, this time in Sweet Sugarplum, and the card front was done.

And then – I smooshed the flower back down a little – so it had some shot of fitting in a regular envelope!  I have to say – it looked a lot more…succulent-y…when the tips were curled up more sharply. 🙂

On the inside, I cut another Flourish Thinlit edgelit from the side of a Very Vanilla panel, and then adhered it with Liquid Glue to a Sweet Sugarplum mat.  And…remember the very first Flourish Thinlit that I cut from the Falling in Love DSP?  Well, I used that to fill the void in the inner liner!

I SNAILd the panel into my Soft Sky card base, SNAILd the card front on as well, and the card was done.

On the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I added the fill-in image for the flower in the Oh So Succulent stamp set in Soft Sky, then I over-stamped the outline image in Sweet Sugarplum.

…and added a little more of the Falling In Love DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love these flowers from the Succulent Framelits and they go well with the Falling In Love DSP.  And the Thankful Thoughts is a definite keeper of a sentiment set.  Hope you like! 🙂
