Stampin’ Up! Totally Trees Thankful Thoughts

Happy Friday, y’all!  Two days until Christmas – hope you’re ready!

So, this morning, as Finn and I headed for the barn to feed, a motion caught my eye.  I saw a brown body in the reflection of a window in the shop.  I figured there was a deer so I started to look to get Finn on his leash.

At that point – he woofed his “holy crap, what’s that, MOM!!!?” woof.

I looked up to see the two Haflinger girls looking at me from the little hill behind the house.

Hmm.  Wrong place for them to be!  Out of the pasture – at large around the house and the barn.  Mayhem and havoc wreaking surely did abound!

Got them back in their stalls, fed and happy.  Returned the trash to the can that had been investigated thoroughly, if not tidily.  “Tidy” is, after all, truly a function of thumbs and fingers….hooves and giant schnoozles?  Not really precision instruments!

Finn was – once again – gobsmacked!  (He spends a lot of time gobsmacked – it’s part of being a kid!)

Finn remained….weirded out…for a bit.  Took some lap-time to calm him down.  Danged ponies.

My card today features a stamp set that I was really sad to see on the retiring list – Totally Trees.  What a lovely and simple stamp set this one is!  I combined it with a couple of sentiments from the Thankful Thoughts set to make a nice little thank you card.  Take a look-see!

My layout came from the sketch challenge at My Favorite Things:

And I played along with the theme challenge at the Global Design Project:

I started with a simple Whisper White panel that I SNAILd to an Emerald Envy mat for the card front.  Although I didn’t do it right away, as the card developed I decided to add some Cherry Cobbler stitches with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

The middle panel is a piece of Presents & Pinecones DSP – I’d planned on using the other side, which is a Cherry Cobbler design, but when I looked at this with the stars and the Delightful Dijon, I knew it was the way to go!  Then I SNAILd that to the card front.

My sentiment panel is a piece of Whisper White.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the sentiment from Thankful Thoughts in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I surrounded it with a few trees from Totally Trees.  I stamped the tree trunks in Soft Suede and then added the block-y leaves with stamped-off-once Emerald Envy.  I also added the Cherry Cobbler stitches to this panel.

I popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added a little heart from the new Sending Love Embellishments (2017 Occasions) with a little bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Thankful Thoughts in Cherry Cobbler to a Whisper White panel.  To finish it off, I repeated the tree – Soft Suede and stamped-off-once Emerald Envy – and “stitched” the edge with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.

I matted the panel on Emerald Envy, SNAILd it into my Delightful Dijon card base and popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more Totally Trees trees on the front…

…and more of the starry Delightful Dijon DSP from Presents & Pinecones on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Easy peasy thank you card from the Totally Trees and Thankful Thoughts stamp set!  Hope you like!  And, I hope that if you don’t already have Totally Trees that you’ll get it before it’s gone!

  1. I love your card Mary! Great design and perfect colors. The little wooden heart tops it off perfectly. I’m a little sad about the Totally Trees stamp set…it’s a good one! 🙂

  2. Mom

Really nice card. Really fun sentiment.
Oh dear…nothing like a pair of loose Haflingers to gobsmack a kid who didn’t even know they even COULD do such a thing, much less live to go report it all to Bo. So…their containment didn’t contain?
Good thing the Mom has a ready lap.

Don’t you just love to watch those expressions when they are gobsmacked!!?? It is so interesting to see how they react……to see if you are afraid as well…..should they be the brave ones or should they see how you handle it first?? I so love to watch them when they are youngsters & figuring out the world! Have a great Holiday Season & enjoy family & friends. Oh, great card as well!

    • Like kids – every day brings a new thing to learn about! We get to see the world thru their eyes. 🙂 Thanks so much, Karen — Merry Christmas to you and yours! 🙂

  4. Oh, such a beauty! I loved this set, didn’t buy it but always loved it! Love the sentiment, too!

OMG you are so funny – I so love receiving your emails and comments about your Finn. And your other animals. My Finn is also an Aussie living in Australia and on a farm also.

Aussie’s are the best dogs in the world.

Anyways, thank you once again for a year of wonderful training for a new cardmaker. Have learnt heaps from you. Hey, what about some videos.

Merry Christmas and may 2017 bring you and your family plus fur babies, joy, peace and lots of excitement.

    Warm Wishes: Mal, Melbourne, Australia

    • Awww – thanks so much, Mal! I do love him – but will be glad when some of the puppy-ness is replaced with mature dog-ness! 🙂 Videos. Hmmm. Maybe? I’ll think on that one, for sure. Merry Merry Christmas, Mal – and a Happy and safe New Year! 🙂

  6. Love, love your sweet card Mary. I was sad to see this gorgeous wee set leave us too! Thanks for playing at Global Design Project with us and Merry Christmas!
