Good morning, y’all!  Welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop – this week’s theme is Elegant Christmas.  Amy left that wide-open for us to interpret any way we like.  So all the projects should be gorgeous – please do check out all the ladies’ blogs when you get done here!

And – send Happy Birthday thoughts to my mom today!  Happy Birthday, Mom! 🙂

For me, anything for and at Christmas is better with pine boughs.  I love going to Costco and garden centers at Christmas just to smell the pine.  I even bought those Glade air freshener thingys that are pine scented – and plugged them in in my hotel room when I was away in Arizona at the beginning of the year.  So when I walked into my room in the evening…I was met with “Christmas”! 🙂

So when I saw “Elegant Christmas”, I knew I was going to have pine boughs.  And Elegant sort of immediately made me think of the Annual Catalog  set – Embellished Ornaments and the Delicate Ornament Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock which I ran thru the Pine Bough TIEF – twice.  I moved the panel in the TIEF so that I’d have pretty pine boughs all over the card front.  Then I SNAILd it to a Copper Foil mat.

The ornament is two pieces, both cut with the Delicate Ornament Thinlits.  The backer is cut with the solid ornament die from Copper Foil.  The more intricate top piece is cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them together.  I also cut a Copper Foil ornament top and the small center piece.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere them – and I left it to dry while I made dinner.  Cuz of how difficult it can be to adhere to Glimmer Paper!  When I got back to it, I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels to the center.

I cut a few Garden Green boughs using the Pretty Pines Thinlits and uses a Sponge Dauber to brush them lightly with Whisper White Kraft Ink.  I also added some “snow” with a white Gel Pen.

I adhered the longer pine bough to the card front with Liquid Glue, then popped the ornament over that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added the last two pine boughs with Liquid Glue.  Using Glue Dots, I added two Mini Pinecones, and a bow tied with three pieces of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.

My sentiment is three die cuts from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits – I cut two in Cherry Cobbler and one in Garden Green and built it up with Liquid Glue, then added it to the card front.  And the card front was done! 🙂

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the sentiment from Embellished Ornaments in Cherry Cobbler to a Whisper White panel.  Then I dry embossed the panel in the Pine Bough TIEF – twice.  Using a Sponge Dauber, I brushed the boughs with Garden Green ink.

I SNAILd the panel to a Copper Foil mat and then into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I inked the ornament from Embellished Ornaments in Versamark and stamped it on the envelope front, then heat embossed it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder…

…and then I embossed the envelope flap in the Pine Bough TIEF and brushed it with Garden Green ink.

Et Voila!  Elegant Christmas.  On a card!  Hope you like!

FYI, here are the measurements for the full cutout pieces for the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies:

  • Circles:
    1-3/8”
    1-7/8”
    2-3/8”
    2-7/8”
  • Squares:
    1-3/16”
    1-5/8”
    2-1/8”
    2-5/8”
  • Ovals:
    1-3/4” x 13/16”
    2-1/4” x 1-5/16”
    2-3/4” x 1-13/16”
    3-1/4” x 2-5/16”

The stitched embossing is approximately 1/16” from the edge of the cutout. So the dimensions are approximately 1/8” smaller than the cutouts.
