Stampin’ Up! A World of Paisleys and Haunts

Happy Saturday, y’all!  As I write this on Friday evening, it’s raining gently outside, which is a blessing borne on the heels of Matthew – who is mostly assuredly not a blessing to most folks that he’s meeting today.  For those of you affected in a less pleasant way – I’m sending thoughts and prayers for your safety.

Before I get to my thank you card for today….here’s a picture of my little Katy.  I really love when cats forget to be cats – and channel their inner dog.

katy-sleeping
It always cracks me up when they sleep right in the middle of the floor – like a dog would.  Her blue tent, in the background, is a much more cat-like-cave.  Soon after I took this picture of her ridiculous cuteness, she got up and went to the tent for another nap.  And some world surveilling out the door.  You can also see where they’ve scattered some food around the bowl.  I do not know how they decide which kernel among the 20 or so identical kernels in each bowl are not worthy of being eaten.  I vacuum – they scatter – I vacuum – they scatter….  sigh…..

Okay – that’s your dose of cute for the day!

My card share is a thank you card and I used several stamp sets to get it done.  I used the World of Thanks, Jar of Haunts, and Paisleys & Posies.  Take a look-see:

This card was inspired by two challenges.  The first, a design challenge, came from CAS(E) This Sketch #193:

And the color scheme is courtesy of TGIF Challenge #76:

I started by inking up the World of Thanks background stamp in Crumb Cake ink, and stamping it on a panel of Crumb Cake card stock.  With these big stamps, I usually lay the stamp on my work table, ink it, and then lay the card stock carefully on top.  Then I take my large acrylic block and lay it on top and press it down for a few long seconds.  That seems to do the best at getting a consistent image -and keeps the ink off my fingers!

I SNAILd the panel to a piece of Tangerine Tango paper from the Brights DSP Stack.  For the vertical element, I wrapped a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

The sentiment, from Paisleys & Posies, was stamped in Versamark on Vellum card stock, sprinkled with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed.  Then I put it over a mat of Tangerine Tango – using a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue on the far left side where I knew it would be under my decorations – and a very tiny few dabs from my Fine Tip Glue Pen, keeping it under the white embossing.

The decor started with a pumpkin in Tangerine Tango from the Jar of Haunts set.  I stamped it on Whisper White and then colored it with Tangerine Tango, using the lid of my ink pad, and the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to pick up the ink.  I added a Crumb Cake stem and leaves, and colored the leaf in a little bit of Pear Pizzazz.  Then I fussy cut the whole thing.

I cut two fern die cuts from a piece of Serene Scenery DSP, using the die from the Botanical Builder set, and a leaf from Crumb Cake, using the die from the Flourish Thinlits.  Then I started adding them to the card.  First I adhered the two ferns, then the Crumb Cake leaf with Liquid Glue. I added a few loops of Linen Thread and Gold Metallic Thread with more Liquid Glue.

Next came the sentiment strip, which went on with a Stampin’ Dimensional on the right side, and Liquid Glue on the left.  Finally, I popped the pumpkin on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  It looked a little sad and bare, so I tied a Linen Thread/Gold Metallic Thread bow and added it with a dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I added the Jar of Haunts pumpkin in Tangerine Tango and Crumb Cake – I stamped each image off once before stamping my Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd it to another piece of Tangerine Tango Brights DSP stack paper and into my Tangerine Tango card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the stamped-off-once Jar of Haunts pumpkin on the front…

…and an envelope flap with some more of the Tangerine Tango Brights DSP.

Et Voila!  A Fall-themed thank you card, using the fun background stamp from the Annual Catalog, as well as the perfect pumpkin from Jar of Haunts!  And, of course, the wondrous sentiment from Paisleys & Posies.  Hope you like!
