Welcome welcome, y’all! If you’ve stopped by from Amy’s blog, thanks for taking the time to visit! If you’re one of my regulars – well, you guys already know I’m happy and grateful to see you! 🙂
As I sit here typing away on Saturday night, I’ve got one of my favorite movies of all time playing….The Fifth Element. Do y’all know it? Bruce Willis at his sexiest best! I’m a total sucker for Snake Eaters – real or fictional! And for the guys…. Milla Jojovich. Yes, even I can admit she’s gorgeous! But, Bruce? Yea.
Best line of the movie….”Do you…mind….if I try?” Followed by a quick shoot-’em-up and “Anyone else want to negotiate?” And who can forget….”Big badda BOOOOM!!!?” And “Multi-paaaas”. Or….”Negative…I am a meat popsicle”. Oh, there’s just too many good lines! 🙂
Ha – I’m chuckling just in anticipation of seeing and hearing those scenes again! Picture me rubbing my hands together with glee!
So while I do that, how’s about I share a quick card that uses the new coming-to-a-2016-Holiday-Catalog-near-you Greetings From Santa bundle? Greetings from Santa is the same of the stamp set, and it coordinates with the Detailed Santa Thinlits.
All I needed to add to this bundle for my card today was a piece of the Warmth & Cheer DSP stack and some Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Silky Taffeta Ribbon. Take a look-see:
I mean, seriously. How cute is that die cut? 🙂
The card front was easy peasy. I took a regular ole piece of Whisper White card stock, and cut the Detailed Santa from it. I also cut the trim line from the bottom of the panel. Then I cut a piece of the Warmth & Cheer DSP stack and adhered it behind Santa with a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
The sentiment, from the Greetings From Santa set, I stamped in Garden Green, using the Stampin’ Write Marker-to-rubber ink technique. I colored just the part of the sentiment I needed and used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to put it right where I wanted it.
I wrapped a length of Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Silky Taffeta Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape. Then I added a “faux bow” in the middle by wrapping another short piece of the ribbon around, tying it snugly and trimming the ends.
Up in the corner of the Santa image, I added some stars. These were cut from Whisper White using the handy little stars die in the the Detailed Santa Thinlits. I adhered them with Liquid Glue. Then I SNAILd the whole thing to a Cherry Cobbler mat and the card front was done! 🙂
On the inside, I stamped the second half of the sentiment in Garden Green, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. I also cut two more trim lines on the top and the bottom.
I added some Cherry Cobbler stars – cut in the same manner as those on the front – and a little Christmas tree in Garden Green. That tree is also in the Greetings From Santa set. Handy, huh?
Now. Let’s just address the elephant in the room, shall we? I am fully aware that my inside sentiment is a little…..crookedy. Yes, I did use the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and neither it nor my stamp are broken. Apparently my eyeballs are broken. I made no fewer than four of these stamped panels and every. Single. One. Was. Crookedy. I finally just had to admit defeat and go on with it. Or I suspect I’d still be sitting there making inside panels for this card! 🙂
Hey. It’s handmade. Perfect can be obtained in the greeting cards section at your local grocery store!
So – I SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler mat and then into my Basic Black card base. I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another couple of Greetings From Santa Garden Green Christmas trees surrounded by a few stars stamped in Cherry Cobbler. Add in some Warmth & Cheer Designer Washi Tape….
…and a little more Warmth & Cheer DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I really love this bundle – I think it’s got so many possibilities for fun Christmas cards – I especially appreciate that it uses Cherry Cobbler for its “red” – it’s my fave for Christmas! Hope you like!
