Stampin’ Up! Easter Lamb, Friends and Flowers Welcoming Words (and Blog Candy!)

Well, good morning to you!  I’m glad you stopped by – I’ve got a cute welcome baby card to share with you today.  But, first…

I was busy today.  Did a little computer mailing….a little grocery shopping… and some stamping area setting up! If you’ve been following me for any time, you know that I travel with my stampin’ stuff if I’m going to be gone any length of time.  I have to say – if any of you are traveling and are just addicted to this craft of ours enough to want to take it all with you and stamp in your hotel…TownePlace Suites are a good bet!  I love this table/desk area they have!  Take a look at what I got set up today – and didn’t even have to beg an additional table!

Yuma Stamping Spot - Stamps-N-Lingers

Kinda cool, huh?  Certainly not bad for a hotel room craft spot!

So, at my new desk, I created a soft, cute card today to welcome a new baby to the family.  I used several new stamp sets – Honeycomb Happiness (read on down for a chance to win this set for yourself!), Friends & Flowers, Easter Lamb and Welcoming Words!  Take a look-see:

Easter Friends & Flowers 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used two challenges today to inspire me.  The sketch came from Freshly Made Sketches #219:

FMS 219 sketch

And the color palette was inspired by Color Week #326 over at Just Us Girls!

JUG 326 Sketch

I used Pacific Point as my dark blue and Soft Sky as my light blue.  To begin with, I cut a panel of Subtles Background DSP in Soft Sky stripes.  For the left side of the sketch, I ran a smaller panel of Soft Sky card stock thru the Big Shot in the Elegant Dots TIEF.  I turned the card stock inside the folder to get the stripes in the design running diagonally – to imitate the diagonal lines in the DSP.  Then I SNAILd that rectangle over the Backgrounds DSP.

Easter Friends & Flowers 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Using a piece of Pacific Point 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon that I secured behind the panel with scotch tape, I covered the seam in the two papers.  Then I SNAILd the whole thing to a Whisper White card stock mat.

For the focal point, I used my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to position the sentiment from Honeycomb Happiness, stamped in Pacific Point ink on a smaller rectangle of Whisper White card stock.  Then I pulled out another new set, called Welcoming Words, and stamped “Baby” in Pacific Point in the opposite corner.

Easter Friends & Flowers 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I covered “Happy Easter” on the Easter Lamb stamp with a sticky note, inked the stamp with Versamark and stamped it in the center of my focal panel.  I sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.  Then I lightly colored his wool and hooves with my Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Marker.  I also painted him all over with some Clear Wink of Stella.  Then I SNAILd the panel onto the card front.

Easter Friends & Flowers 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The flower is made using a couple of leaf images from the new Occasions catalog stamp set called Friends & Flowers.  This set coordinates with the very cool Festive Flower Builder Punch – so I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it at OnStage Live last year!  I stamped some of the medium leaves and two of the double leaves with Soft Sky ink on a piece of Whisper White.  The baby-in-a-pea-pod is also stamped in Soft Sky.  I punched all the pieces out and folded/unfolded each leaf, then assembled the flower using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I brushed it all over with Clear Wink of Stella, added a large Pearl Basic Jewel, and stuck him to the focal panel with another little bit of Liquid Glue.

For the inside, I went back to the Welcoming Words stamp set.  I stamped both sentiments in Pacific Point ink – stamping them off once before stamping my card liner.  Then I lightly colored the word “Home” in with my Soft Sky Stampin’ Write Marker.  The houses and heart images are also from Welcoming Words, stamped in Soft Sky.

Easter Friends & Flowers 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I blinged the hearts up a little with the Clear Wink of Stella.  The liner is matted on a panel of Soft Sky card stock, and then SNAILd into my Pacific Point card base.  I added the front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

Easter Friends & Flowers 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I pulled out a Whisper White Medium Envelope and stamped the baby-in-a-pea-pod image on the front in Pacific Point,  Then I colored his little blankie in Sofy Sky with the marker.  I used my Clear Wink of Stella like a Blender Pen, and painted the pod in Pacific Point.  How cool does that look??

Easter Friends & Flowers 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Well – you can’t really tell how cool it is, can you?!?  But trust me – it’s all shimmery blue and gorgeous! 🙂

The inside got a liner cut from another piece of the Subtles Background DSP in Soft Sky – which I cut with my Envelope Liner Framelit.

Easter Friends & Flowers 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A cute little card to welcome a new addition home.  And – using the same technique and a pink palette – you’ve got a girl’s card.  Yellow and green maybe for a gender-neutral card!  I love the little baby-in-the-pea-pod image – he’s just so cute peeking out of his comfy spot!  And highly reminiscent of Anne Geddes’ works!

So – I mentioned something about Blog Candy yesterday, didn’t I?  Yes – I did.  And I hinted it might have to do with the little chick from Honeycomb Happiness.  Keep scrolling on down the page and you’ll see what’s up for grabs and what you need to do to get entered!

My double-points ordering special is going on for another little bit.  And, starting Monday, there’s going to be another little sumpin’ sumpin’ for ordering.  Come on back, ya hear?

See you tomorrow!
