Welcome to Week 2 of the Happy Stampers Blog Hoppers Blog.  Hop.  Wow – that was the Department of Redundancy Department, wasn’t it?!  We’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this week, so when you’re done here, please head over to their blogs to see how they interpreted the challenge for this week…

….which was a color challenge – we needed to use Rich Razzleberry, Soft Suede and Old Olive.  Score!  Some of my favorite colors and so awesome together.  Kind of just cries out for some Into the Woods DSP, doesn’t it?

A while back I saw a card on Pinterest that had a really cool fold – called a Box Pleat.  I vowed to make a card with such a fun fold one day – and this is the day!  And, as I promised yesterday, I’m using another beautiful-font sentiment from the host stamp set called Six Sayings (there’s a little bit of Friendly Wishes thrown in, too).  And, of course, Into the Woods DSP.  And. in spite of the complicated-looking-but-really-easy-to-do fold, this is a clean and simple card!  Take a look-see:

Six Sayings Into the Woods 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This design is one of my very favorite from the Into the Woods DSP – I just love it.  The back of this one is pretty, too – all green and white vines – but, this is the side I wanted to showcase.

I started by building the fold.  I took a strip of the DSP – 1 1/2″ x 9″ – and I used my Simply Scored board to score it at 1″, 1 1/4″, 2″, 2 1/4″, 3″, 3 1/4″….and so on – with the last score being at 8 1/4″.  Then I folded each scored line opposite the previous one.  The first fold was back – so…into the all-green side of the DSP.  Then the next one was forward – into the focal design.  Next one back…and so forth.  I gently burnished each fold and then arranged it into the box pleat (looks like a set of curtains!).  I put a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue inside each pleat to set them into place and put it aside for a few minutes while I readied the card.

Six Sayings Into the Woods 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The card itself is very easy and straightforward.  I laid out the card to determine where to stamp my Six Sayings sentiment – which I did in Rich Razzleberry – onto a panel of Whisper White card stock.  Then I used the cute little flower (which looks a LOT like the flower on my DSP!) from Friendly Wishes to stamp around the sentiment in Soft Suede.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the leaves with Old Olive and the flowers with Rich Razzleberry (one advantage of a color challenge is that it really helps with the color selection, yes?)

Six Sayings Into the Woods 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used some SNAIL to adhere the pleated strip to the card front – and then trimmed the excess off both ends.  Then I added a length of Into the Woods 3/8″ Cotton Ribbon – laid just over the top of the pleat – running a light line of Liquid Glue on it and adhering the ends on the back of the panel with scotch tape.  Finally, I wrapped some Whisper White 1/2″ Seam Binding over that and tied a simple overhand knot.

Six Sayings Into the Woods 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the Whisper White panel to a mat of Rich Razzleberry and then popped it all onto a Whisper White Thick Card Stock card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The inside is blank.  I SNAILd some Whisper White card stock to a Rich Razzleberry mat and then all I did was lay down a strip of the Into the Woods DSP and an overlay of a little more Into the Woods Cotton Ribbon.  I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips – versus wrapping it around, to avoid extra thickness.  Easy peasy! 🙂

For the envelope, I first stamped some more Friendly Wishes flowers in Soft Suede – colored with Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry – onto the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope….

Six Sayings Into the Woods 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and then added a liner with some more of the Into the Woods DSP.

Six Sayings Into the Woods 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A clean and simple, Soft Suede/Rich Razzleberry/Old Olive card for Fall and Thanks-giving!  Hope you like – and that you’ll try this fun Box Pleat! 🙂
