A little Christmas pretty for y’all today. You only need one stamp set – the superb Wonderland – and some White and Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the tools to heat emboss! Take a look-see:
I started with a panel of Basic Black, that I corner-rounded with the outside punch on the Envelope Punch Board. Don’t have that? Then it’s just as good to leave the art panel with 4 square corners! I also made a matching Silver Foil mat for the art panel while I had the punch board out! Unusual thinking-ahead for me!
To make the image, I first rubbed the Basic Black card stock with my Embossing Buddy and then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the Wonderland trees image in Versamark Ink one time. I sprinkled that with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it. I let it cool off for a few moments, rubbed it again with the Embossing Buddy, and then stamped it a second time, offset a little. I sprinkled that image with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, heated it up, and admired my creation! I will say, though, that when I use this technique again, I’ll offset the second image just a smidgen more. Just. A. Smidge. Too much and I think it would just look like you’d tried on someone else’s glasses! 🙂
I SNAIL’d the art panel to my Silver Foil Mat, and moved to the sentiment. That’s also from the Wonderland set, heat embossed in Silver on a strip of Basic Black card stock. I used my Banner Triple Punch to banner-ize the ends, but you could just as easily use your Paper Snips (or the Hexagon Punch, if you have that). I adhered the black sentiment banner to a Silver Foil Mat with SNAIL.
I lined everything up on my Basic Black Card Base and, using some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, I adhered the sentiment to the art piece – the glue is only on the top left portion of the sentiment. Then I turned the whole thing over, stuck on a bunch of Stampin’ Dimensionals and then adhered it all to the card base.
The new Winter Wonderland Embellishments were the perfect addition to the card – I used a glue dot on each one, plus a little dab of Liquid Glue. Not taking any chances that they’ll fall off! 😉 And that was that for the front of the card!
The inside is a piece of Whisper White Card Stock on a mat of Silver Foil. I did round the corners like I did on the front but, again, if you don’t have the Envelope Punch Board, you can just leave all the corners square.
The Wonderland sentiment is again heat embossed in Silver. I used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (really, if you don’t have this tool, you need to get it! It’s just $12 and is one of the easiest to use, most useful tools in a card maker’s arsenal!) to make the one-line sentiment into a two-line sentiment. I taped off the latter part of the sentiment, stamped the front portion in Versamark, taped off the first portion and stamped the back half on the second line. The Stamp-A-Ma-Jig makes it easy to line up. Tip: Be sure to put some CLEAN scotch tape over the front of the sentiment before you stamp the second half. Otherwise, you’re likely to get ink (and thus Stampin’ Emboss Powder!) where you don’t want it!
I stamped some of the snowflake flurries from the Wonderland set across the bottom of a Whisper White Medium Envelope with Versamark Ink and then heat embossed them with some more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.
Et Voila! An elegant, single-stamp-set Christmas Card for your giving pleasure! I hope that you like it and will give the double-image embossing technique a try.
Tomorrow brings Monday and work and all that yada yada. But, I’ll be back in your Inbox bright and early with another card to share.
Enjoy your Sunday! Oh!! If you happen to live where the weather is clear tonight, be sure to step out side and check out the full moon. It’s a Super Moon – meaning the full moon is at it’s closest point to the Earth – which is cool enough as it is. BUT – it’s ALSO a total Lunar Eclipse – there’ve only been 5 total Lunar Eclipses of a Super Moon since the year 1900. If you miss tonight’s – there won’t be another one until 2033!! Weather permitting, the supermoon will be visible after nightfall (duh!) and the eclipse will cast it into shadow beginning at 8:11 p.m. ET. The total eclipse starts at 10:11 p.m. ET, peaking at 10:47 p.m. ET.
I’m hoping for a clear night here in Atlanta, but the weather so far hasn’t been promising. 🙁
See? Double whammy – a pretty card to CASE and you got some science-y stuff on top of it!
TTFN….
Mary
