As we head into the first official weekend of the 2015 Fall Season, I thought it would be fun to Welcome Fall with a simple, one-stamp-set card. Now, to be fair, I also used the Sleigh Ride Thinlits. I’m sorry, but I just had to use the Big Shot on this one-stamp-set card!
It’s easy to forget, with all the fun new products in the 2015 Holiday Catalog, that the Annual Catalog also has wonderful items that will make super cards for Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and beyond! The stamp set that I chose today is just such an item – the For All Things set. This was originally in the 2014 Holiday Catalog and (thankfully!!) made it into the Annual Catalog. It’s a good ‘un, and I hope it stays as an active set for many years to come.
Take a look see at what I got when I paired For All Things with the Sleigh Ride Thinlits:
This card was – literally (and I’ve even literally used the word literally correctly!) 4 runs thru the Big Shot with two of the three Sleigh Ride Thinlits, and two stamps from For All Things. Done!
I started by determining the base color for my card – Blackberry Bliss. I cut the card base (a standard A2 size of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″) and scored and folded it at 4 1/4″. Then I laid the houses die on the card front where I wanted the top layer of my design to be, setting the left edge on the fold. I ran it thru the Big Shot, and then used my Stampin’ Paper Trimmer to cut on the fold from the top of the card to the start of my die cut. That removed the top half, and I’d just created my fun card front!
The next layers are built from pieces of card stock, cut and then adhered to the card front and the edges trimmed. The second houses layer is in Tangelo Twist. Then there’s a Mossy Meadow Trees layer and a Basic Black Trees layer. No Sleigh in the Sleigh Ride card! I mean, really – it’s a FALL card and where I live, if we ever have enough snow for a sleigh ride, it’s for darned sure not happening in September! I’m all about reality! 🙂 Oh – a couple of the pieces I flipped over after I cut them – so that their design would be on the other end. Just to make it all fit better! If you’re interested – it was the Tangelo Twist and the Mossy Meadow layers.
I added each layer to the card with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and then trimmed the excess off the sides and bottom. To finish it off, I laid out two strips of Happy Haunting Designer Washi Tape. I don’t use a lot of Washi, but this seemed to add some more depth to the card – and reminded me of some of the primitive country scenes I’ve seen in my past.
That was all it took to make the front of the card! On the inside, I layered a piece of Whisper White card stock onto a mat of Tangelo Twist. I pulled out the For All Things stamp set, and inked up the oak leaf in Tangelo Twist. I stamped it off once on my Grid Paper, and then stamped it in the center of the liner. I did a little cursory alignment and measuring (real cursory!) so that when I added the sentiment, it would be visible above my skyline with the card closed.
I stamped the For All Things sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink. And….well….that was it!
I decorated a Whisper White Medium Envelope with some more Happy Haunting Designer Washi Tape…..
….Et Voila! A super simple card for Saturday to welcome Fall!
Hope you like – And hope you’re fixin’ to do something fun today!
Speaking of fun – don’t forget about the great Weekly Deals. I’m getting ready to place a tiny little order to get that Remarkable You set, and some Gold Ribbon and maybe the Brights Sequins! 🙂
TTFN….

Oh, Mary! This is so cute! And easy! Thanks for sharing.
You’re more than welcome, Kathy – and you’re right. It IS easy! 🙂
Love it! Great use of the dies, love that the inside of the card is peeking out behind the houses too. Fabulous! 🙂
Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Super cute card, Mary! The style reminds me of the barn door, and the layers of edgelits and color add depth. I don’t use washi tape very much, either, but it looks great on this card. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Patricia. The washi kind of confounds me some times, which I why I don’t use a lot of it. But, as you say, it worked on this card. Appreciate the nice words! 🙂
