Well, as anticipated, the night sky was not visible for us last night. So we missed the most-Super of the 2015 Super Moons AND the super-rare Total Lunar Eclipse of said Super Moon. Perhaps we’ll still be around in 2033 and will get to see it then. If any of you saw it – was it completely awesome?!?! I SO wanted to see it!! 🙁
Today’s share is a super simple card to make. It takes a little bit of time to make 8 of them like I did – cause of how you get to color! I just used the Lighthearted Leaves, Watercolor Wishes and the Tin of Cards stamp sets, and added some color from 4 Fall-centric colors in the 2014-2016 In Color suite: Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow. Take a look-see:
I set up a bit of an assembly line – you can see that all the cards are identical, with the exception of the color scheme! I started with 8 of the Stampin’ Up! Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes. For the mats, I pulled out the 2014-2016 Designer Series Paper and used the handwriting design for each of my 4 colors. Hint – the other side of that design is the polka-dots and I saved the leftover portion to use as envelope liners!
I cut 8 pieces of Whisper White Card Stock for my art pieces on each of the cards. On each piece, I stamped the maple leaf from Lighthearted Leaves, using the new Basic Black Archival Ink.
I then colored the leaves with my Stampin’ Write Markers. I made two cards in each of the 4 colors. Once I had all the leaves colored, I used the pretty little scroll image from Tin of Cards and stamped it top and almost-bottom in Basic Black Archival Ink on all the pieces. While I had the stamp out, I also added the same image to the inside of the cards. I left the inside blank except for that design element.
Each card got the sentiment from Watercolor Wishes, stamped in the same ink color as the leaf – so Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow
I SNAILd each art piece to the corresponding mat from the 2014-2106 In Color Designer Series Paper. Then I gave each card front a single wrap and small bow with various items. The Blackberry Bliss cards got a Silver Cording Trim bow, while Tangelo Twist got a bow made from a length of Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine. Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey got Baker’s Twine bows, too – using Old Olive and Crushed Curry respectively. Even though the colors aren’t exact matches, they’re so close that they work perfectly! I added a tiny dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue under each bow – just to secure it a little.
I adhered the card fronts to the Whisper White Note Cards with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The final touch was to cut out short envelope liners using my Envelope Liner Thinlit dies and the leftover DSP from making the mats for the card fronts.
And that was that! Easy Peasy nice and squeezy!
This is a pretty straightforward card design that you could easily modify with whatever focal stamp that you wanted. I can tell you that the Designer Series Paper Collections are really great values, that give you lots of color flexibility. There’s more than just the 2014-2016 collection, too. Take a look:

These are awesome Mary! Awesome clean design, love the fall colors too. Great use of the DSP. 🙂
Thanks, Amy. Clean and Simple was my aim! 😉
Really like this card. Sorry you missed the eclipse…even through the trees, it was a sight to behold.
Me, too. I bet it was pretty awesome, given the 8500′ and change advantage you’ve got!! Thanks! 🙂
absolutely lovely set of cards Mary in such beautiful fall colors
Thank you, Sandi!
Love your cards. The colored leaves are so pretty!! Fabulous Job!!!
I did get to see the Super Moon and just a small, tiny wedge piece of the eclipse. The coolest part for me was that the brilliant light from the moon made whitish spots in the yard where the rest of the yard was really dark. It almost looked like snow along a bank of dirt on our East line. Just such a brilliantly bright moon.
Thanks so much for sharing with us!
Thanks, Lynn. Appreciate the compliment. And – your view of the moon sounds just wonderful. I was less disappointed by not seeing the eclipse than I was by not getting to see the Super Moon at ALL. I had visions of going down in my pasture and just gazing at it. But…..twas not to be! 🙂
Hi Mary, I see you used the archival ink on these beautiful cards. What do you think of it? Is it better than other black inks?
Well, it’s a little more intense of a black than the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. That’s the only one I have to compare to. I definitely think it’s great when you’re planning to color around it – blender pens, Markers, what have you. I like it! Hope that answered your question?
Love all of the great card colors! I need that stamp set…:)
Thanks, Jari – yea, it’s a good one! And I love that it also coordinates with the Leaflets Frameltis! 🙂
