Today’s share is another Christmas Card…can I get a “DUH!” from the blog-i-sphere?? I’m just really loving the Christmas themed stamps and papers in the new Holiday Catalog and they’re inspiring me. Stampin’ Up! really outdid themselves with this release – I have many items on my list that I’m hoping and wishing will make it to the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog! This set today though, Lots of Joy, is in this year’s Annual Catalog (so you could get it right now!) and has several really great sentiments, in beautiful fonts. And, when paired with the new Home for Christmas DSP (in the Holiday catalog starting 1 Sept), and a great sketch….you get this. Take a look-see:
This card’s design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #201. Be sure to go over there and check out all their design team creations, okay?
I really wanted to make another card with the sheet music design in the Home for Christmas DSP (available….tomorrow!!! Whoo-hoo!!). It just so happens that the flip side of that paper is a really cute mistletoe pattern. So, life got easy right quick like!
I started by embossing a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the new Boughs and Berries TIEF (TomORrow…toMOrrow….I luv ya, tomorrow….you’re only a day away….) and then I SNAILd that to a Real Red mat. I knew I wasn’t going to be adding any ribbon that would need to be wrapped around the card front, so I went ahead and popped it onto my Very Vanilla card base.
The two DSP elements are matted on Mossy Meadow and Real Red. I love that with just a few cuts and some SNAIL, you’ve got instant color and interest on your card. Once they were both matted, I SNAILd the musical element to the card front, and then adhered the mistletoe with a combination of SNAIL on the left side and some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the right side.
I used my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch to make my Very Vanilla sentiment circle. I SNAILd it to a Mossy Meadow circle that I’d cut with the next largest die in my Circles Collection Framelits. But that frame was too big (for me) and so I fussy cut around the vanilla circle – I used the impression you always get with the dies to mark where I needed to cut, so it was pretty easy. Then I stamped the sentiment from Lots of Joy in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and SNAILd the whole thing to the card front.
The tree is also from Lots of Joy – this is a really image-packed stamp set! – and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on a piece of Very Vanilla and then punched out with the Tree Punch. Then I SNAILd that to a Real Red card stock scrap and fussy cut a little mat. The star is from the Metallics Sequin Assortment and is glued on with a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. A Pearl Basic Jewel finishes off the tree topper. Finally, I SNAILd the tree to my card and the front was done!
Guys – I have no idea why my camera did so much weirdness with the lighting. Sorry about that! Regardless of how the close-up picture looks – there’s no Whisper White anywhere in this card! 😉
Any-whoo. For the inside, I just stamped the tree image again. For this one though, I stamped it off first and then stamped the card. I wanted to put my sentiment over it, so I wanted it faded a little bit.
I added the sentiment – again from Lots of Joy – in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and gave the tree a Metallic Sequin star of its own (no pearl this time!).
I pulled out a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope and stamped a couple more images on it – one in Mossy Meadow and one in Real Red. I feel confident that this smart group can figure which was which! 😉
Et Voila! Another Christmas card ready to hit the mail! I figured the Post Office wouldn’t be too confused by the stamp stamp. It’s only for $.25 after all – which is way WAY not enough postage these days, huh??
Hope you like. And hope that you’re all ready to place your Holiday orders starting bright and early tomorrow. I’ll be online first thing ordering lots of pretty papers and ribbons and embellishments to fulfill my Holiday Shares. If you’re thinking you wanted a share, best get crackin’. Tonight’s the very last chance to get in on the chance to get a little bit of everything at a great price!
We had a great Stampin’ Up! meeting with our upline and friend Amy Koenders on Sunday. After we ate lunch and got thru the business part of the meeting (Amy even made that fun!) we made a Christmas Card and a pillow gift box using the new Square Pillow Box Thinlits. Fun! I’ll show you a couple of pictures of them on Tuesday, when I bring the new Weekly Deals to your inbox!
Hope your Monday finds you all in good health and ready for another week!
TTFN!
Mary
