Stampin’ Up! Get Well Soup on Sunday

Here’s a question for all you smart folk out in blog-land.  When did it get so freakin’ expensive to be able to SEE?!?! I just recently spent more than a mortgage payment for new glasses.  Two sets of clear.  Update the lenses in my sunglasses (okay – these are Maui Jim’s and I have to say they’re the best sunglasses I have EVER worn – and worth every ridiculous penny!).  That’s two new sets and new lenses.  More than a mortgage payment.  How in the heck does that make sense?!?  I’ve been wearing glasses since I was in my early twenties.  And in that 10 years or so ( 😉 ), the price has just skyrocketed!

To add insult to injury, my sunglasses will be ready in 8 – 10 days.  I feel a little stupid to admit that I’ve only got the one pair.  It’s completely killing me to have to do things outside without sunglasses – like drive.  Ever since my mom insisted that I wear sunglasses whenever I go outside – to protect my eyes – I have worn sunglasses whenever I go outside.  And now I can’t.  I miss them terribly!  I hope Mr. Jim hurries…..

So – on to today’s card.  It’s an easy one and won’t take a second to share with you!  My young friend (one of the twin boys young men I’ve told you about) is having tooth surgery tomorrow.  Wisdom teeth – one has some kind of cyst under it.  So, he’s getting the full-meal-deal.  Fasting.  IV anesthesia.  The works.  And they tell him to expect a few days of not-so-much-fun after.  I remember getting mine out, and I didn’t like the aftermath much.  So, I wanted to make a Get Well card – which I’ll take over to him tomorrow afternoon – probably with a chocolate milkshake (about the ONLY good side effect of wisdom tooth extraction!).  I used the brand new, ever-so-cute Get Well Soup stamp.  Take a look-see:

Oh – sorry.  This should be called Get Well ICE CREAM!  🙂  I started by stamping the entire image in Mememto Tuxedo Black Ink onto a Whisper White Notecard.  Then I stamped it a second time on a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock.  Using my snips, I cut out the bowl and the spoon handle.

To make the ice cream, I used the cloud image from the Sprinkles of Life Photopolymer set, and stamped them in Whisper White Craft Ink onto Whisper White card stock.  Then, using the sprinkles stamp, I stamped sprinkles on both clouds (ice cream!) in Bermuda Bay, Real Red and Daffodil Delight.  Finally, I used my Tree Builder punch to punch out my shapes.

I did some dry-fitting to determine where to adhere the ice cream so as not to cover up the sentiment, then I SNAILd the ice cream scoops to the back of the bowl that I’d previously fussy cut.  Then I adhered the whole thing over the stamped bowl with Dimensionals.  Instant depth and dimension!

I colored the spoon handle in Bermuda Bay with my Stampin’ Write Marker, and then stuck it into the ice cream.  The top of the handle has some small pieces of Dimensionals under it, while the bottom half is adhered with a tiny bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

All that remained was to color in the heart with more of the Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker, and glue three little hearts from the Metallic Sequin Assortment to the spoon handle.

On the inside, I just stamped some more sprinkles – you really can’t ever have too MANY sprinkles! – across the bottom.

Et Voila! The card was done – Very clean and simple, I think.  And darned easy!  Although I don’t have pictures, I’m going to sprinkle more sprinkles on the envelope – I’m quite sure he’ll notice! – before I take it over to him.  Note to self – don’t forget to have whipped cream and sprinkles on the milk shake….

See below for all the card cuts and products used in this card.

Thanks for stopping by – enjoy the rest of your weekend, and I’ll see you tomorrow!  Monday. Yuk.
