Happy Happy Happy Birthday card

So – how many of you had a hard time getting up this morning??  I sort of did, I guess.  It’s always hard to lose that hour – I’m sometimes awake at 4 am anyway – but…..if your ALARM goes off at 5am, and your body thinks that’s really 4am, and you want to sleep ’till 6, which is really 5, but it’s a work day, so you gotta get up at 5 which is really 4….whoa whoa whoa – back outta the rabbit hole, Mare.  Sorry – that one just sucked me in.  It’s like…if you go back in time, and you change something and that changes the future and then you’re never born, could you have gone back in the first place — never mind.  Sorry.  Again. Fortunately, we all know that – at least as far as daylight savings goes – in a few days, we’ll be all back to normal.

Let’s get to the reason y’all showed up here today – at whatever time it is.  A card share!  Today, I’ve gone back to a fun die set – the Hello You Thinlits, which I got bundled with the Crazy About You stamp set (yep, 15% savings right there!).  And, I used some of the Sale-A-Bration Best Year Ever DSP.  Have a look-see:

Even though Cajun Craze isn’t one of the colors in the Best Year Ever DSP, Crushed Curry IS – and Cajun Craze DOES go well with Crushed Curry.  So, I decided to take a chance and pulled out my Cajun Craze card stock.  Using the “happy” die (just in case you were wondering which one I’d picked – duh, Mary!), I cut out a bunch.  If you CASE this, don’t forget to put your piece of wax paper between your CS and the die.  These words – like some other fine-detail dies – are a bit hard to get out of the die otherwise.  With the wax paper where it belonged, these popped out right fine.

I used some 2-way glue to adhere them to a piece of the Best Year Ever DSP, kind of haphazardly.  I don’t remember the movie, but my head plays a scene in which an actress is bouncing around gleefully, sort of singing “happy…happy…happy….”  Anyone know the movie?  Drop me a comment down below and let me know what it is.  Any-who, with that picture in my head, I kind of wanted to reflect that sentiment “happy….happy…..happy….” and didn’t get too het up about perfect spacing.

I inked up the sentiment from the Crazy About You set in Chocolate Chip and stuck it down in the corner.  I SNAIL’d the whole thing to a Sahara Sand CS mat and then got busy with my Hearts Border Punch and made myself a whole passel of little hearts, which I proceeded to let run amok (“amok amok amok” – another movie reference….) on the card front.  No rhyme.  No reason.  Just kept sticking them down until I got tired of doing it and thought it looked right.

I added a little Rhinestone to each heart.  Well, to be truthful, at first, I made a tiny bow out of some Linen Thread and stuck it to the topmost left tiny heart.  And put a Rhinestone on each of the others.  And then decided I didn’t LIKE the bow there, and carefully pulled it off (fortunately, the Liquid Glue hadn’t set up yet) and replaced it with a Rhinestone.  And deemed it good!

I popped some SU Dimenstionals on the back of the layered piece and stuck it to my Cajun Craze card base, and then turned my attention to the inside of the card.

Remember the little Linen Thread bow?  Well, I couldn’t let it go to waste, right?  And I didn’t!  For the inner note card area, I added another sentiment from Crazy About You (did this in two stamps – “For” and “You”) to a piece of Whisper White CS. Then, I punched a Cajun Craze heart with my Sweetheart Punch and used some Multipurpose Liquid Glue (sparingly!!) to stick it on the card. And glued that darn little bow right in the middle of it – which I decided was so clever and didn’t even look like I was just being kind of ridiculously frugal….well, you be the judge!

With the right tools, this card goes together lickety-split (that’s pretty fast!) and I think will be a fun card to give (or get) for a birthday!  I also kind of think that even with the bling, it’s not too girly that you could’t give it to a man for his birthday.  Do you agree?

BLENDABILITIES QUALITY ISSUES

Stampin’ Up! released the following announcement about the Blendabilities line.  While this is disappointing, it’s something of a testament to the company that they’re addressing an issue they find unacceptable in an up-front manner.  At this point, I don’t know exactly what the issue is, but I’ll bring you guys more information as I get it.

——————–

February 27, 2015
We are experiencing a quality issue with our Blendabilities product line. Except for the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad Refill (item #133456), all item numbers have been turned off; this includes Blendabilities Sale-A-Bration item numbers.

At this time, backorders for Blendabilities will not be fulfilled.

We thank you for your patience and will update you as soon as we have more information.
