Stampin’ Up! It’s a Wonderful Candy Cane Year and 2017 Occasions Catalog Shares!

Good Tuesday morning to y’all!  Hope your week is going well.  We’re getting more rain.  And it’s cold.

I don’t mean to complain, cuz boy do we need the water, but…it’s chilly and kinda nasty!

And Finn collects water on him like a little sponge!  And has a great time doing it.  He deliberately (yes, I see the “devil” in his face!) leaps into puddles, ensuring that he’s wet from stem to stern!  Little booger.

I bought him a new bone.

Which has nothing to do with the rain and being wet.  Sorry – didn’t give you an external transition there.

Anyway.  New bone.  It’s a winner!  When I pulled it out of the box the other day, he spied it and immediately started leaping about.  Gimme gimme gimme!

I told him it was for the cats. 😉

Not really.  That woulda been mean.

He loves it – and I don’t even think it tastes like anything in particular.

I mean – I didn’t lick it or anything, cuz…yuk!  I’m just going by what he told me.

So, his toy count is definitely on the rise. 🙂

My card for today is another Christmas Card – getting close to needing to send them all out and I need to be sure my stash is large enough for my list.  I used the big, bold and beautiful stamp set called Wonderful Year, combined with some Candy Cane Lane DSP.  Take a look-see:

This one was inspired by a few challenges – the first is a sketch challenge from Mojo Monday.

You can see I turned it on its side.  My color scheme came from the Global Design Project.

Finally, I incorporated a theme from The Paper Players.

pp324-sketch

This one went together real quick and easy.  I started with a couple of designs of paper from the Candy Cane Lane DSP.  I SNAILd the first design to a Real Red card stock mat.  Then I cut a smaller piece, SNAILd it to its own mat, and then SNAILd that to the first matted piece to form the card front.

I wrapped a piece of Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My sentiment, from Wonderful Year, is stamped in Early Espresso and Real Red on Whisper White.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp so that I could have two colors.  Then I matted the panel on Real Red and popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Now, the snowflakes are kind of fun.  I wanted to use Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper.  And I wanted the intricate snowflake image from Flurry of Wishes.  It occured to me that maybe I could heat emboss the Glimmer Paper.

its-a-wonderful-candy-cane-year-3-stamps-n-lingersI stamped the double snowflake image from Flurry of Wishes in Versamark onto the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  I was careful to not touch it until it was completely cool.  Then I punched it with the Snow Flurry Punch.  I was pretty happy with it, so I did another small snowflake the same way.

I looped some of the White, Red and Gold Baker’s Twine from the Candy Cane Lane Baker’s Twine Combo pack around on the corner of the sentiment panel with Glue Dots.  Then I adhered the large snowflake with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and popped the smaller one over top with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I added the third snowflake with Liquid Glue, then used some Liquid Glue to help adhere some large Rhinestone Basic Jewels to each snowflake, and the card was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Wonderful Year in Early Espresso on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I added the little flower-dy image – also from Wonderful Year – in Real Red.

Now.  You can’t see it, cuz it’s really faint, but….a few months back, I was inking Real Red and Versamark to emboss with and I had a complete brain melt and stamped my Real Red right onto my Versamark pad.  So all my images that use Versamark have a faint pink tinge to them.  Which doesn’t really hurt anything – mostly!  But I decided to use that to my advantage for this card.  I stamped the double snowflake image from Flurry of Wishes twice around the sentiment with my pinkish Versamark.  It looks really good.

No, really.  Trust me!

So I SNAILd the panel to a Real Red mat and then into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Wonderful Year flower-dy image in Real Red across the front…

…and some of the Candy Cane Lane DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  These sentiments in the Wonderful Life stamp set are big!  They make a statement all by themselves, needing no extra help.  Add in the Candy Cane Lane DSP – one of my favorites in the Holiday Catalog – and bing bada boom!  Instant Christmas!  Hope you like.

Stampin’ Up! Flurry of Wishes Z-Box Fold Christmas Card

Welcome, y’all!  Well – it’s Sunday, the four-day weekend is drawing to a close, and I have to go to Utah tomorrow.  Not for a Stampin’ Up! convention, either.  For work!  And, of course, it’s fixin’ to snow there.  I.  Can.  Hardly.  Wait. 🙁  I’ll be there for a week.  Bleh.

So, have I mentioned that Finn feels he should probably be a lap dog?  Well – he does.

finn-on-my-lap
Who’s gonna say “no” to that face?!?  Obviously not me!  Maybe his dad.

Maybe Katy…
