Happy Friday, y’all! You made it and the weekend is in sight!
Today’s fun fold is a riff on the card that Judi Hartbarger brought for our Retreat swap. I do love a book fold and when you add a GATE fold…it’s totally cool! Like Judi – I used the Autumn Opulence DSP (from the Online Exclusives) and the Elegant Leaves bundle to make a thank you card. Take a look-see:
You’ll see this card – along with the other Design Team members’ cards – at this month’s Creative Creases Challenge! 😎 We’re ALWAYS wanting to see pretty fun folds so…I hope hope hope you’ll make one (or three!) and come share them with us! 🙂
I started by scoring my 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Golden Glow cardstock at 2 1/8″, 3 3/8″ and 8 7/8″. Then I folded the 2 1/8″ as a valley – the 3 3/8″ as a mountain – and the 8 7/8″ as a mountain.
Using Liquid Glue between the 2 1/8″ and 3 3/8″ score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” or “side” fold. And – it automatically set up the rest of the card for the gates!
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered a 1″ x 4″ piece of Autumn Opulence Specialty DSP on a 1 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of Petal Pink cardstock. Then I adhered that matted panel to the book fold panel with Liquid Glue.
I matted two 1 7/8″ x 4″ pieces of Autumn Opulence Specialty DSP on 2″ x 4 1/8″ pieces of Petal Pink cardstock. Those are adhered to the two gate panels with Liquid Glue.
On a 4″ x 4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, I stamped an Elegant Leaves sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink. In the corner, I stamped the large detailed leaf image from Elegant Leaves in Blackberry Bliss. Then I stamped the fill image over top in Petal Pink ink.
I matted the panel on Petal Pink and then adhered it to the inside of the card base.
Using the dies in the Elegant Leaves set, I cut out some foliage:
– Large solid leaf from Petal Pink cardstock
– Large detailed leaf from Blackberry Bliss cardstock
– Medium solid and detailed leaves from Petal Pink cardstock
– Three small leaves from gold Timeless Metallic Specialty Paper
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the detailed die leaf die cuts to their corresponding solid leaf die cuts.
I adhered the smaller all-Petal Pink leaf to the LEFT gate of the card base using Liquid Glue. Then I added the large leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals – still JUST on the left gate.
I added the small gold leaves with Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Golden Glow cardstock, I stamped an Elegant Leaves sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink. Then I cut it out with the small leaf die from the set and adhered it with Liquid Glue.
I tied a bow from two lengths of Very Vanilla Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.
Finally, I added five Golden Glow Radiant Gems and the card front was done.
On a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, I stamped the medium solid Elegant Leaves leaf in Petal Pink ink. Then I stamped the detailed image of the leaf over the top – also in Petal Pink.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the back of the card base and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the medium Elegant Leaves leaf in Petal Pink on the front…
…and more of the Autumn Opulence Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Oh, I do LOVE the Autumn Opulence Specialty DSP! The colors are so rich and elegant – and the designs are gorgeous! You can mix and match to your heart’s content. This is the card we made at the retreat…
Same card – different DSP – almost a completely different look! There’s so many options in the Autumn Opulence Specialty DSP – you almost can’t pick a bad combination! Make it as a book fold gate card and show off ALL the pretty papers! And the Elegant Leaves bundle has all the cool die cuts and pretty stamped images and sentiments that you need to complete the picture!
If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts you’ll need are down below! And – this is the card I made in yesterday’s Thursday After Lunch Bunch YouTube Live. If you’d like to see it – for the first time or again! – here ’tis!
