Stampin’ UP! Velvet Garden Gatherings Book Fold Gate Card for the SU Demos Fun Fold Blog Hop

Good morning everyone! Welcome to this month’s Fun Fold Blog Hop for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!  We’ve got a talented line-up and…I think you’re going to like what you see!  This is a once-a-month hop and…all our cards will be fun folds!!  How cool is that?!?

I went back to a fun fold that I really like – it’s got two of my fave things – a book fold AND a gate card.  It’s called – cleverly enough! – a book fold gate card.  I know!  Innovative!  This one I decorated with the cool looking (and feeling!) Velvet Meadow Specialty DSP! And I added a pretty floral (or three!) from the Garden Gatherings bundle!  Take a look-see!

I started by scoring my 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Peaceful Pine cardstock at 1 1/2″, 2 3/4″ and 7″.  Then I folded the 1 1/2″ as a valley – the 2 3/4″ as a mountain – and the 7″ as a mountain.

Using Liquid Glue between the 1 1/2″ and 2 3/4″ score lines, I adhered the front of the card base to the back – just in that 1 1/4” area. This made the “book” or “side” fold.  And – it automatically set up the rest of the card for the gates!

Next up, I cut a pretty panel of the Velvet Meadow Specialty DSP into three panels – each 5 1/4″ long.  I cut the first one to be 1″ x 5 1/4″, then the next two to be 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″.  I matted them all on Pool Party cardstock and then adhered them onto the book fold panel and the fronts of the gates – keeping the design contiguous.

For the inside, I cut two more panels of the DSP – each 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″, matted them on Pool Party and adhered them to the inside of each gate.

For the inner liner, I stamped a Garden Gatherings sentiment in Berry Burst on a 2 7/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock.  In the corner, I stamped the leaves/stem image a couple times in Peaceful Pine.  Then I stamped the flowers in Berry Burst and Bubble Bath.

I adhered the panel to the inside of the card base with Liquid Glue.

For the front – I used the Next-to-Largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut out a piece of Velvet Meadows Specialty DSP and another from Peaceful Pine cardstock.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere the Peaceful Pine circle to the back of the Velvet Meadows Specialty DSP circle.

Then I closed the gates and – using Liquid Glue only on the RIGHT side of the back of the circle – adhered it to the RIGHT hand gate only.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Peaceful Pine stem/leaves three times in Peaceful Pine ink.  I stamped the flowers – one each in Daffodil Delight, Berry Burst and Bubble Bath inks.  I used the die in the set to cut out the images.

On a piece of the Velvet Meadows Specialty DSP, I stamped a vase image from Garden Gatherings in Peaceful Pine ink and cut it out with the die in the set.  And I used a die in the set to cut out three leaves from Peaceful Pine 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Specialty Paper.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the die cut flowers and leaves to the back of the die cut vase.  Then I adhered it to the circle on the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped a Banner Sayings sentiment in Berry Burst ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  Using the bundled Three Banners Punch, I cut out the sentiment and adhered it with Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional.

I added three Cloud Cover Moody Palette Glossy Dots and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got some Garden Gatherings flowers on the front…

…and more of the Velvet Meadows Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Oh – I do LOVE this fun fold!  It’s so easy but…it’s got so much going on – there’s a new something to see around every flap!  It’s got tons of real estate to showcase pretty papers like the Velvet Meadows Specialty DSP!  It feels as cool as it is pretty! And Garden Gatherings has quickly become one of my fave bundles – the flowers and leaves line up and stamp perfectly – and the sentiments are pretty and handy, too!

I hope you like!
