Stampin’ Up! Sunflowers, Coneflowers & Carved Wood Thanks Card with Video Tutorial

Hello hello!  Happy Sunday, y’all!  Hope your weekend is going well!

My card today uses a technique called Carved Wood – and I first saw it on Pinterest – from a demonstrator named Jennifer Roque!  I already loved the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder and this just takes it to a whole ‘nuther level of WOW!!  I added a sentiment – and a butterfly! – from the Coneflower Celebration bundle to finish it off.  Take a look-see:

I know, right?!  So pretty!

I started by embossing a Basic White panel in the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder.

Turning it so that the DE-bossed side was up (that’s the side where the flowers are lower than the background) – I first scraped my Crumb Cake ink pad over the top.  Tip: hold the ink pad pretty flat and use just the short edge of the pad.

I repeated that with a Pecan Pie ink pad, then a Cajun Craze ink pad and finally, an Early Espresso ink pad.  You can make the background color as dark as you like.  Note: there WILL be color on the flowers and leaves – and that’s just fine.  I mean – it’s ALL supposed to look like a wooden carving, right?!

When my background was where I wanted it, I used Sponge Daubers to color a couple of flowers in Crushed Curry and a couple in Timid Tiger.  The centers are colored in Pecan Pie and Crushed Curry.  Finally, I colored the leaves in Mossy Meadow.

I matted the panel on Timid Tiger cardstock to create the card front.

On a piece of Timid Tiger, I stamped the Coneflower Celebration sentiment in Early Espresso ink.  Then I cut it out with a Stylish Shapes banner die.

I tied a double-loop Linen Thread bow and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.  Then I popped the sentiment over top with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the Coneflower Celebration butterfly in Early Espresso ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock.

I colored him with my Light Timid Tiger and Light and Dark Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends – and cut him out with the coordinating die in the bundled Coneflower Celebration die set.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the butterfly to the end of the sentiment.

I added some gold Adhesive-backed Metallic Gems and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second Coneflower Celebration sentiment – and the butterfly – in Early Espresso ink on a Basic White panel.  I colored the butterfly with the Cajun Craze and Timid Tiger Stampin’ Blends.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Coneflower Celebration butterfly on the front…

…and a piece of Timeless Plaid 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Well – yet another beautiful way to use the amazeballs Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder, yes!?  Sadly – it’s not available right now (boo!) but it’s looking to be back in the Online Store the second week in August!  Yeah!  I like the Coneflower Celebration set – it’s got great sentiments and pretty images to use on so many projects! 🙂

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SALES TAX HOLIDAYS COMING UP!

The 2025 back-to-school sales tax holiday season begins this weekend and there are twelve states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Ohio, South Caroling, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia) offering a sales tax holiday for school supplies during the months of July and August. Products that are eligible according to the statute include “items normally used by students in a standard classroom for educational purposes.”  Click the table below to open the chart and see what is available and when! 🙂

Please note that you must place your order with Stampin’ Up! DURING the tax holiday period to receive these items tax-free. Also, keep in mind that this is a STATE SALES TAX holiday; the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.

This is YOUR WEEKEND TENNESSEE!!

For all y’all that live in Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, and Wisconsin…sorry!  Those states suspended the sales tax holiday again this year. 🙁

Finn Fan Fix

Cady rapped her leg – probably climbing the hay bale in her stall.  So…gotta do some hosing.

She’s pretty good about it but…her patience runs out LOOOOONG before the timer does!

BOREDBOREDBOREDBOREDBORED.

Cady!  Don’t make me call in the BIG Supervisor to handle this!

Such a pretty card Mary! Love the layered ink, perfect way to showcase that beautiful embossing folder! Poor girl…it’s hard to stand still for so long. Good thing that the main boss is keeping the situation under control. 😉
