Stampin’ Up! Frolicking Friendly Fins Thank You for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  We’ve got a theme challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table.  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Have you ever had the chance to swim with dolphins?  I did – many years ago – and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done.  So…when, I saw the fun Friendly Fins set – I decided I NEEDED it!  Being that dolphins – and reefs and seaweed and stuff – are almost always outside – I figured it would be a good spot to start for our theme today.  Take a look-see:

And – this was our theme!

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock and, using a small Blending Brush, I added Summer Splash ink near the middle of the panel.

Then, with the little bubbles die from the Friendly Fins set, I cut out three sets of bubbles from the panel.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Friendly Fins dolphin image twice in Gray Granite ink.  Then I stamped the fill image in stamped-off-once Gray Granite.  I also stamped the three-angel-fish image in Blueberry Bushel ink – and stamped that fill image in Daffodil Delight!

Using the coordinating dies, I cut out the two dolphins and the three-angel-fish (they all stay together).

I used the dies to cut – all from Basic White – the large reef, the rocks, two small fishes, and two each of the seaweed dies.

I colored the Basic White Die cuts using Stampin’ Blends:

– Reef: Light Petal Pink

– Small Fishes: Light Calypso Coral – then I used the Color Lifter around their bellies

– Two-leaf Seaweed:  Light Granny Apple Green

– Larger Seaweed: Light Summer Splash

– Rocks: Light and Dark Gray Granite

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the die cut reef at the very bottom of the panel.  Then I added the seaweeds with Liquid Glue.

The three-angel-fish are popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The Calypso Coral fish behind the reef is adhered with Liquid Glue and his buddy is swimming on a Dimensional in front of the reef!

I added the two dolphins with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the Friendly Fins sentiment in Summer Splash on a strip of Basic White cardstock.  Using Paper Snips, I cut a banner in the right end and then used Dimensionals and Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.

I added a plethora of Summer Splash 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the rocks in Gray Granite in the corner of a Basic White panel. I colored the image with the Gray Granite, Petal Pink and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends.  Then I added the three-angel-fish in Blueberry Bushel and Daffodil Delight.  With my nearly-dry Small Blending Brush, I added some Summer Splash around my little scene.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the underwater scene on the front…

…and a frolicking dolphin on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Isn’t Friendly Fins just the cutest darned set?  I love that you can make dolphins, stingrays, sharks…oh my!…in a pretty underwater reef scene – all with just cardstock and inks! And – don’t skimp on the colors!!  It’s a reef, after all! 🪸🐠
