Good morning and happy Friday! Here we are – on the cusp of the weekend. AND – it’s the LAST weekend of STANDARD DAYLIGHT TIME! Whoo-hooo!! That’s right – on Saturday – when you go to bed – set those clocks forward. I know – I know – “one less hour of sleep”. But…think ahead to those long spring and summer days!! Totally worth it!
Speaking of sunshine (I was – sort of!) – my card today showcases the Bright Skies bundle – from the Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog. But – there are ALSO some Spring showers from the Drizzling Droplets background stamp – which is BRAND NEW in the Online Exclusives. Take a look-see:
And – it’s sort of perfect for this week’s Paper Players theme challenge!
This card starts with figuring out the decorations. On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the large cloud image from Bright Skies in Balmy Blue ink. I cut it out with the coordinating die in the bundled set – and also cut out two smaller clouds from Basic White cardstock.
I set the clouds in the spot I thought I wanted them on a Basic White card front. Using them as a guide I placed a piece of thin acetate onto the top of the panel – to use as a “mask”.
I used a Blending Brush to color the Drizzling Droplets stamp with Pool Party ink – then I stamped the card front – with the acetate mask in place. Note: I did all this cuz I wanted sky above the clouds – and rain below them!
Using the Blending Brush – I colored the top of the panel with more Pool Party Ink. Then I adhered the panel to a Lemon Lime Twist mat using Liquid Glue.
I adhered the stamped cloud and one of the smaller clouds with Liquid Glue – then adhered the final cloud with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the sun from Bright Skies in Daffodil Delight, cut it out with its matching die and adhered it with Liquid Glue.
I made grass using both edge dies in the set and cutting a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. Note – the heights of the pieces weren’t that critical at this point – just the width (which is 4″).
When I ran it thru the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine – this is what I got.
Using a Sponge Dauber – I colored the scalloped edges of both pieces with Granny Apple Green ink.
I stamped the Bright Skies sentiment in Granny Apple Green on the grass die cut with the square edges and bottom. Then I used my trimmer to cut it down a bit – with it ending up about 1 1/4″ tall.
I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment grass to the bottom of the card front – then slid the second piece underneath, adhering it with Liquid Glue.
I stamped two flowers in Daffodil Delight ink on Basic White and cut them with their coordinating die. I also cut out three Lemon Lolly flowers and five Granny Apple Green stems.
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered all the stems and then added the five flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added vanilla Matte Classic Dots – to the middle of the flowers and by the sentiment – and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped stems/leaves in Granny Apple Green on the bottom of a Basic White panel. The flowers are Daffodil Delight, as is the so-cute sun in the top corner!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and into the Lemon Lolly cardbase, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Bright Skies flowers on the front…
…and a little gingham paper from the Bee Mine DSP on the envelope flap!
Et Voila! I love the Bright Skies bundle – that sun and the flowers (stamped AND die cut) are just darling! What a great set for making cards of encoruagment and support! And the Drizzling Droplets stamp is a fun way to add some Spring showers to the blooming flowers!
I hope you like!
