Stampin’ Up! Covered in Sunshine By The Bay with Video Tutorial

Happy Sunday, y’all!  Winter is giving one (I HOPE!) last gasp here in GA – it is…COLD!  And windy.  And…COLD!  Did I already say cold?  The wind has been blowing – think I saw a woozle go by a little bit ago – or maybe it was a heffalump.  It was moving too fast to know for sure!  Finn and the girls are fine but…we’re less than thrilled.  I’m just SURE that Spring is coming!  Fingers crossed!

My card today is another one that shows off the versatility of the By The Bay DSP – it is NOT just for nautical cards.  I paired it with the newly re-stocked (YEAH!) Dainty Delight bundle and the often-overlooked Covered in Sunshine stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge (thank you, Shirley Gentry!!).

I started by adhering a piece of the By the Bay DSP to the front of a Balmy Blue card base using Liquid Glue.

Next, I cut a fourth-from-largest Deckled Rectangle from a Night of Navy design from By The Bay and adhered it with Liquid Glue, too.

I put a piece of the woodgrain By The Bay DSP into the Stamparatus and used it to stamp the Covered in Sunshine sentiment in Night of Navy ink.  Then I cut it out with the same size Deckled Rectangle die – and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

Using the Dainty Delight Dies, I cut out a Soft Sea Foam “stem” and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I cut a bouquet of flowers – some from So Saffron and others (my fave little daisies!) from Basic White.  They each got a Sahara Sand flower center – adhered with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the So Saffron flowers with Liquid Glue and adhered all but the half-daisy on the far right side with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I tucked that last little one under with a little Liquid Glue! 😎.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Dainty Delight in Night of Navy ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  In the corner – I stamped the Dainty Delight grass/flowers image in Soft Sea Foam and colored it with my Light So Saffron and Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends.  In the opposite corner, I stamped the Covered in Sunshine sun in So Saffron.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and then into the Balmy Blue card base and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Dainty Delight grass/flowers and the Covered in Sunshine sun on the front…

…and more By The Bay DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I really like the relatively under-appreciated Covered in Sunshine stamp set – the big, bold sentiments are eye catching – but it ALSO has some sweet little images to complement them!  And – we ALL love the Dainty Delight bundle so I’m REALLY happy to let you know that it’s BACK in the online store!  Whoo-hoo!!

You’ve heard of Pigs in a Blanket?

Well – here’s Dog in a Towel.

It’s one of his fave things.

We’re thinking – dang it – it’s raining and he’s all muddy and Miss Sonya just barely left.  And HE’S thinking…

  1. Such a pretty card! Love the layout, those little die cut flowers are the best! Yeah…Finn says bring on the rain if this is what happens when I come it! 🙂

What a great card—wonderful take on that sketch and awesome use of that big, often under-appreciated stamp set! I never know what to do with big sentiments but will pin this! My flowers are the favorite part. TFS. Finn does look like it’s way more fun for him than for his dad!
