Stampin’ Up! Decorated with Happiness Pines Christmas Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning good morning good morning!  I hope you’re having a great weekend!  We got all our second-round tomatoes planted, the kale harvested (needed the space for the tomatoes!), harvested a YELLOW SQUASH!!, and more beans.  It was a good day.  Hotter than hades but…a very good day in the garden!

I managed to stop sweating in time for my video last night where I shared a simple card layout – that I did three ways – using the Decorated with Happiness stamp set, with the bundled & gorgeous Decorated Pine dies, and some Timber 3D Embossing.  Take a look-see:

The elegant color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge this week.

And I mentioned a video – if you weren’t able to watch last night, but would like to, here ’tis on YouTube!

I actually made three cards using this exact same layout and color palette – the one in the video is a stepped up version of the one you’ll find here – but…I’ll give you instructions on how to step it up, too! 🙂

I started by embossing a piece of Basic Black cardstock in the Timber 3D Embossing Folder, then I adhered it to a Crumb Cake mat for the card front. And – did you know that you can get the Timber 3D Embossing Folder for FREE now?  Yup – Stampin’ Up! added it to the list of goodies you can choose with a $50+ order until Sale-A-Bration ends on 31 Aug!  😎😎😎

Using the next-to-largest square die in the Stylish Shapes set, I cut a Crumb Cake square and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I adhered a piece of Evening Evergreen cardstock to a piece of Adhesive Sheet and cut out a single pine bough using the Decorated Pine die.

I removed the backing from the Adhesive Sheet and adhered the die cut pine bough to the card front.

I tied a small bow from a length of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I added a few gold Festive Pearls and…the card front was done. 🙂

Now.  On the video card version – I did a few things differently.

– I embossed the Crumb Cake square in the pine-bough folder from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folders before adhering it to the card front.

– I cut a second pine bough from Evening Evergreen Glimmer 12″ x 12″ Specialty Paper and adhered it over the top of the cardstock pine bough.

– I tied a double-loop Linen Thread Bow (you can see a short video on how to do that right here) and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

– I used Cherry Cobbler Festive Pearls instead of gold!

Those are the only differences!  But…they made a BIG difference in the end result, right?!

The inside of the card is the same on both versions.  First, I stamped a sentiment from Decorated with Happiness in Crumb Cake on a piece of Basic White.  Then, in Evening Evergreen, I stamped the pine bough from Decorated With Happiness twice in the top corner.  The first one is in full strength ink – then I inked the stamp, stamped it off once on scrap paper, and then stamped it again.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and then into my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got more of the Decorated with Happiness pine boughs on the front…

…and stamped it twice in full-strength ink on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the Decorated with Happiness stamp set – that pine bough! – and its bundled Decorated Pine die set – that PINE BOUGH!!  And – although clean-and-simple isn’t really my normal schtick – I really like this layout.  The addition of Timber 3D Embossing is a perfect way to get a little more oomph – without any extra “busy” (and for FREE right now!)!  I’ll confess that the version I made in the video is my fave – I’m a fan of a little bling and that double-loop bow!!

I hope you like!

I did mention that I made THREE versions!  The very first one  – that I made during my Zoom the Craftroom session the other night – used a leftover Twigs & Sprigs embossed and die cut pine bough – that I brushed ever-so-lightly with Evening Evergreen using a Sponge Dauber! I had that leftover die cut thanks to the birthday card I made the other day – you can check it out right here!

Even MORE clean-and-simple, right?!? 😉
