Happy Happy 4th of July, y’all! Today is a day to celebrate our Country – and the Freedoms we have – but…I’m grateful every day to live here. We’ve got some problems. We’re far from perfect. But this is a great country and – after seeing a lot of them in my travels – for me it is the GREATEST there is. And I’m proud to be an American! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 (cue Lee Greenwood! 😎)
Now – my card today probably ought to be red-white-and-blue. But…it’s not! It’s black and white and pink! And – it sports some very happy Hippest Hippos dancing in a Perfectly Penciled flower-dy field! Take a look-see:
The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches!
And I worked with the Tic-Tac-Toe board this week, too! I went down the left side and across the middle!
Finally – since the hippo is the third largest land-mammal on the planet….the Just Us Girls Word Challenge was perfect!
I started by embossing a Basic Black panel in the cool Twigs & Sprigs Embossing Folder and then adhering it to a Polished Pink mat for the card front.
I cut a strip of Perfectly Penciled DSP and -from the left end – cut out the next-to-smallest circle from the Stylish Shapes dies. Then I matted the DSP on Polished Pink and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped one of the Hippest Hippos in Basic Gray ink. Hippest Hippos is one of the free Jul – Aug 2022 Sale-a-Bration products that you can get for FREE with a $50 retail value order!
I cut it out with the coordinating die in the Hippo Dies – another product you can get for free during the Jul – Aug 2022 Sale-a-Bration, with a $50 order.
So, you know – plan to order $100 and get them BOTH!
I colored the hippo with my light Smoky Slate and Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. She got a mani-pedi with a Light Polished Pink Stampin’ Blend! I also colored the eensy-weensy leaf on the image with a Light Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blend.
I popped her onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Hippest Hippo sentiment in Polished Pink – then cut it with a label die from the Treat & Cracker Box Die set. Y’all – even if you don’t ever want to make Cracker Boxes – this is a GREAT die set! It’s got FIVE perfectly-sized sentiment label dies! Super handy to have!!
I used Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment.
Using a Glue Dot, I added a Polished Pink Loose Flowers embellishment to the hippo – and then stuck on a small Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewel and the card front was done. 😎
On the inside, I inked part of a second sentiment from Hippest Hippos in Polished Pink and stamped it on a Basic White panel. Next to it I added a second sassy hippo in Basic Gray and colored her with the same Stampin’ Blends that I’d used on the front!
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Polished Pink mat and then into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got another Hippest Hippo on the front…
…and more of the Perfectly Penciled DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! These Hippest Hippos are just too stinkin’ cute, aren’t they?! And it’s so cool that you can get them for FREE during this round of Sale-A-Bration! – AND that you can get the Hippo Dies for them, too! Also..for free!
