Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Daydream Easel Fun Fold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a theme challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw the theme I immediately thought Daffodils.  Which – of course! – led me to the Daffodil Daydream bundle and the FREE Daffodil Afternoon DSP!  And – since I love them, I did another easel card.  On a top-fold.  Sorry.  Not sorry!  Take a look-see:

And – have you guessed our theme yet?

I played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge….I went across the top and down the left column.  Hey – the easel is square! And there ARE two score lines! And…butterflies are animals. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 😎)

The layout is a CASE of a sample card in the Sale-A-Bration catalog – check it out on page 5.  And that was from this week’s TGIF Inspiration Challenge!

These top-fold easel cards are so easy – it’s nearly impossible for me to NOT do one when there’s a call for a square layout!

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Thick Basic White cardstock and used my Simply Scored Score Tool to score it at 5 1/2″, 6 3/4″ and 8 7/8″.  Then I folded it at 5 1/2″ as a “mountain” – at 6 3/4″ as a “valley” – and at 8 7/8″ as a “mountain”.

I used Liquid Glue between the 5 1/2″ and the 6 3/4″ score lines and then pressed the card front to the back – this adhered them together and created the top-fold.

I took a 4″ x 5″ piece of Daffodil Afternoon DSP (this is STILL FREE for a few more days with a $50 order! Once Sale-A-Bration ends on the 28th….it’ll be gone-baby-gone!) and cut the top 1″ off – leaving a 1″ x 4″ and a 4″ x 4″ piece with a continuous design.

I matted the smaller piece on a piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and adhered it to the top fold with Liquid Glue – keeping my DSP design in mind!

I matted the larger piece on Flirty Flamingo and then wrapped a length of white baker’s twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack around the matted panel – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  NOTE:  you’ll want the Glue Dots at the BOTTOM of the panel so that they’ll be hidden when the card is in “easel mode”.

I matted a piece of the plaid design from Daffodil Afternoon on Flirty Flamingo and adhered it to the top of the easel panel with Liquid Glue.

Using the next-to-smallest hexagon from the Beautiful Shapes Die set, I cut a shape from a striped design in the Daffodil Afternoon DSP.   I popped the shape over the baker’s twine on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Vellum cardstock, I stamped the Daffodil Daydream sentiment in Versamark then sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  When it was cool (yes – it needs to cool so it won’t smear!)- I cut it out with the smallest wide die (it’s the one that doesn’t really fit in with the other nesting dies!) in the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Using Glue Dots under the embossed words (to hide them), I adhered the sentiment to the DSP hexagon.

I cut two butterflies using the die in the Daffodil Die set (bundled with Daffodil Daydream) from some Bumble Bee paper in Daffodil Afternoon.  I cut two little “bodies” with a die – from the same striped paper that I used for the Beautiful Shapes hexagon.  These are adhered to the butterflies with Liquid Glue.  Then I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to the card front.

I tied a white baker’s twine bow around the twine on the card front, added some Brushed Brass Butterflies and the card front was done.

I put Liquid Glue on the “easel” portion of the card base…

…and adhered the matted card front to it.

I stamped a butterfly from Daffodil Daydream in Tuxedo Black on Basic White and colored it with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Combo (Dark on the inside, Light on the outside of the wings) and the Light Flirty Flamingo Blend (over the Light Daffodil portion to create an in-between color!).  Then I cut the butterfly with the die in the Daffodil set.

For the inside, I stamped the splatters image from Daffodil Daydream twice in Daffodil Delight ink on a square piece of Basic White cardstock.   I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and then to the inside of the card base.

Then I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the little die cut butterfly in position as the “easel stop” – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Daffodil Delight splatters and the Daffodil Daydream butterfly on the front…

…and more of the Daffodil Afternoon DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  These gorgeous Daffodil Afternoon DSP flowers are as stunning as the real ones popping up their heads here in Georgia right now!  Spring is trying to sprung here – and HAS sprung on this card!  The pretty Daffodil Daydream set with the Daffodil Dies bundled with it, is a wonderful way to celebrate Spring, Mother’s Day or Easter!

I hope you like!

Y’all don’t miss out on getting a good stock of the Daffodil Afternoon DSP, okay??  It’ll be gone by next Tuesday – along with ALL the good things that Sale-A-Bration brings!! 😔😔😔
