Good morning, everyone! Well – yesterday was a big day here! Our friends had their sweet little baby girl – Juliette Harper was born at 1148am on 4 Nov! She is gorgeous and I am excited to meet her when the time comes – and then commence to spoiling her rotten in my capacity as honorary grandma! We thought we maybe had a few more days – weeks? – but…Juliette had other plans, it would seem. So…I did a quick pivot and turned my planned card into a Welcome to the World card for her!
If you were able to join me for my YouTube yesterday, I appreciate you spending part of your day with me! If not, but you’d like to see the replay (and it will help you if you want to make this cool fun-fold!) then here ’tis!
I pulled out the All For Baby bundle and some uber-sweet Pansy Petals DSP to make this amazing Gate Fold Explosion Card for Juliette! Take a look-see:
I saw this fold over on Lisa Curcio’s blog and thought it was so much fun – that I had to do it!
I played along with The Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge this week. I went down the diagonal: Ribbon/Twine – Patterned Paper – Embellishments.
And the birth of a new tiny human for SURE counts as an “occasion”! So I played in the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge, too!
I started by making a gate fold card from a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Soft Succulent cardstock that I scored and folded at 2 3/4″ from both short ends.
Next up, I cut a Scalloped Contours Dies rectangle from Basic White.
Across the top, I stamped the clothesline image from All For Baby in Crumb Cake ink.
I used the bib and onesie dies in the bundled Baby Clothes die set to cut a flower-dy bib and three gingham onesies from Pansy Petals DSP in Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent.
I stamped each of the onesies with a heart, star or pocket from All For Baby – in the same color as the onesie DSP.
I adhered each baby item to the panel using Liquid Glue. Then I stamped each item with the clothespin image in Crumb Cake.
I added an All For Baby sentiment in Evening Evergreen. Then I adhered some Loose Flowers Embellishments to each onesie and by the sentiment with Liquid Glue.
To make the explosion mechanism on the inside, I cut a 4″ x 10 3/4″ piece of Pansy Petals DSP and then scored it according to the template.
Here’s how that goes (check out the video starting at 14:48 for this part of the card!):
- Score 2 5/8″ from each short side – there will be a gap – that’s good!
- Fold the ends in at the score lines.
- Use a pencil to mark the mid-point on the short sides (2″).
- Use a pencil to mark the center of the long sides – it’s right in the middle of the gap!
- Leave the short ends folded in and use the Paper Trimmer to score between the marks as shown in the template.
- Fold each score line both directions to make them pliable.
- Fold the paper as shown in the video.
- Place the folded mechanism in the middle of the gate fold card base.
- Use Liquid Glue on the top of each side and fold the card base over each end to adhere it inside the card base.
To create the inner liner, I cut a 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White card stock. I used a pencil to mark the mid-point of each side, then cut between the marks using my Paper Trimmer.
I inked the little teddy bear from All For Baby in Crumb Cake, stamped it in the middle of the diamond panel and added a Polished Pink bow. Over the top, I added a second All For Baby sentiment in Evening Evergreen. Then I adhered it to the inside of the explosion mechanism using Liquid Glue.
I matted a piece of Pansy Petals DSP on Evening Evergreen for the card front and, using Liquid Glue, adhered it only to the LEFT “gate” of the card front.
I made the belly band by adhering a a strip of Pansy Petals DSP to a strip of Evening Evergreen with Liquid Glue. I curled the strip and wrapped it gently around the closed card with the “gap” at the top. I wrapped some white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack twice around the strip – securing it at the top with Glue Dots.
I adhered the art/sentiment panel to the top of the belly band with Stampin’ Dimensionals – covering the gap (the gap is caused because I used 11″ long cardstock – not 12″ long.).
To finish up, I used two pieces of the white baker’s twine and tied a small bow. Then I adhered it to the art/sentiment panel with a Glue Dot and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the All For Baby teddy bear on the front…
…and more Pansy Petals DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I love this card – especially the adorable Baby Clothes die cut bib and onesies – and the sweet sentiment and teddy bear from All For Baby! I was happy that I remembered the gingham in the Pansy Petals DSP, too – it’s sort of perfect! And this Gate Fold Explosion card! Wow!!
I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix
I put “Hold Puppies” on my To-Do list for yesterday. I finally realized that if I did NOT – I’d never take the time to go do something that is – really – a super nice way to spend a couple of hours!
So – after Juliette’s arrival and my YouTube…I headed over!
I held three little puppers – didn’t get a shot of “Bo” (that’s what I’ve unofficially named the single yellow male – who I’ve sort of totally fallen in love with!). But I DID get a picture of Riley – who is destined to remain a “Martin” with his new Dad, Matt…..
And a picture and video – of “Purple dot” puppy. A sweet little black female that I firmly believe needs to be called….Gracie!
She is very VERY asleep – and…apparently…hunting wabbits!! I recommend sound on…
Note: If you hate adorable puppy videos, just…head out now. Cuz that’s what’s next! 😉

Such a cute baby card! Love the fun fold inside, perfect! And such sweet little puppies…love how they sleep with their little feet up by their heads. She looks like a little old person waiting up. 🙂 Which one are you bringing home??? 😉
Hmmm – IF I brought one home it would be the yellow male. Or….Purple Dot black female. But my current plan is to remain STRONG!! We’ll see how my plan pans out! Thank you, Amy! 🙂
SUPER sweet card! I’m sure it will be a keepsake!! Congratulations! You will have the best time spoiling her!!
The puppies are so stinkin’ CUTE!!
They are. They really really are. They’re kind of killing me! 😉 Thank you so much, Elisha! 🙂
Congrats, MeMaw, on the new addition to your extended family! What a perfect welcoming card for the sweet addition. And what a great way to celebrate her arrival by cuddling the puppies! Finn seems to approve!
Thanks so much, Susan! I am so excited to meet her! And Finn DOES approve. Just as long as they stay THERE. NOT here, Mom! 😉
Gingham baby grows with flower embellishments – what could be cuter?! Oh I think a video of three cute puppies! So glad you live so far away from me right now or I’d have to pop over!!!! Thanks for playing TicTacToe with us over at The Paper Players this week!
Ahh, Joanne – I am sadly in love with a puppy I DO NOT NEED!! 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Thank you very much for the kind words – I appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
What sweet explosion of cuteness, Mary! I’m sure this card will be treasured by Juliette’s parents for many years. The perfect paper and color choices! It’s adorable…and so is the envelope. Your cards are always fabulous. Thank you for playing in my Tic-Tac-Toe challenge at The Paper Players this week!
Aww – thank you so much for the kind words, Ann! I appreciate them very much! 🙂
Oh, my gosh, card video or puppie video…eenie, meenie, puppie!! Look at those paws! Scout is just as beautiful as Finn is handsome. Now we have to wait patiently for the Grandma video with Juliette! Your heart must be full!!
It’s a good baby time, for sure! Thanks, Karen! 🙂
