Stampin’ Up! Gingerbread & Candy Canes for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I decided to pull out some yummy Frosted Gingerbread (stamps, of course!), with the Gingerbread dies to match, and Candy Canes (again – STAMPS!) – and dive headlong into my fave color palette for the Christmas season.  No non-traditional colors today!  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch!  Yup – I totally toed the line this week! 😉

I started with a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that I stamped with the Candy Canes stamp set in Cherry Cobbler using my Stamparatus.  I matted it on Mossy Meadow for the card front.

The middle panel is a second piece of Crumb Cake that I embossed in the Star-Crossed Embossing Folder – matted on Mossy Meadow – and adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the dies in the Gingerbread die set (bundled with the Frosted Gingerbread set for a 10% savings!), I cut two solid bells and a solid ornament from Crumb Cake cardstock and detailed shapes in Gold Metallic Specialty Paper (this is from the Gold & Rose Gold 6″ x 6″ Specialty Paper Pack).

I adhered the detailed die cuts to the solid die cuts with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the two bells onto the card front with Liquid Glue – then popped the ornament over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Frosted Gingerbread in Cherry Cobbler, then I cut it with a die from the Tasteful Labels die set.

I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, tucking it under the popped-up ornament just a smidge.

I tied a bow with the pretty Cherry Cobbler & Gold Metallic 1/2″ Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  To finish things off, I added some gold Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped more Candy Canes in Cherry Cobbler on a strip of Crumb Cake, matted it on Mossy Meadow and adhered it to the bottom of a Mossy Meadow-matted Crumb Cake panel with Liquid Glue.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of my Cherry Cobbler card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Cherry Cobbler Candy Canes across the corner of the front…

…and for the envelope flap, I embossed another piece of Crumb Cake cardstock in the Star-Crossed Embossing Folder and adhered it to the flap with Liquid Glue, fussy cutting the excess!

Et Voila!  As much as I loved the non-traditional colors from my Whimsical Trees card – THIS is my fave for the holidays!  It just really says “Christmas” to me!  And it is, of course!, perfect with the Frosted Gingerbread stamp set and bundled Gingerbread Dies!  I’m also a bit of a fan of background stamps and…how totally perfect is this Candy Canes stamp?!?  🙂
