Stampin’ Up! Hats Off for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  We’ve got a color challenge to work with today and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I sw our colors, I was a little stymied for a minute.  Mojo-fail?  Jet Lag?  No telling!  But – my brain finally kicked in and I decided to give the new Hats Off Bundle a go!  And I paired it with some cool and masculine In Good Taste DSP.  Take a look-see:

And here’s the colors we had for our challenge – we needed to pick three!  I got all but the Blushing Bride! 😉

I borrowed the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments for the layout.

And The Paper Players helped me add some more elements! (I got Blue – Red – White; Blue – Die Cut – Heat Embossing)

Being a card-for-a-guy (says it right on the front!) – I figured it worked fine over at The Spot!

I started by matting a piece of In Good Taste DSP on Bermuda Bay for the card front.  Then I matted a piece of Daffodil Delight DSP from the Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP on Bermuda Bay and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Next, I embossed a smaller piece of Basic Gray cardstock in the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder – matted it on Bermuda Bay and added it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the large hat image from the Hats Off set in Basic Gray on a piece of Real Red Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP and again on a piece of Real Red cardstock.  I used the die in the bundled Hat Builder Die set to cut the cardstock hat and fussy cut just the hat portion of the DSP image.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the fussy cut DSP “hat” to the cardstock hat.

I stamped a Hats Off sentiment in Versamark on Basic Gray, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it.  Then I used the two dies in the Hat Builder set to cut it out.  One of the dies cuts the shape – and the second is an “insert” to create the “stitches”.  I adhered the label to the hat with Liquid Glue.

Then I used my Bone Folder to lightly roll and curl the hat to give it some shape.

On the same Daffodil Delight DSP that I’d already used on the card, I stamped a second Hats Off sentiment in Bermuda Bay – then cut it with a Stitched Rectangle Die (“cheating” the sentiment to the right end of the die cut).

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue – then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the hat on.  The Dimensionals are double-stacked under the center part of the hat to help it maintain the rolled shape!

Finally – I used the star die in the Hat Builder set to cut some stars – from that same Daffodil Delight DSP again! – and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.  And – the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped another Hats Off sentiment in Bermuda Bay on a Basic White panel, then added some stars in Daffodil Delight.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bermuda Bay mat and into my Real Red cardbase and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got another Hats Off sentiment in Bermuda Bay and some Daffodil Delight stars on the front…

…and more of the Real Red Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Hats Off stamp set and bundled Hat Builder dies give you a cool – and quick! – way to make awesome masculine cards!  With all sorts of “hat” options – outdoors, adventure, Father’s Day….what will you make first!?

I hope you like!
