Good morning, y’all! It’s the weekend (insert happy dance emoji here)! I’ve said it before – I have no idea why my brain still gets excited on Friday evening and a little blue on Sunday evening! Guess that the years of “the work week” meaning something still WAY outweighs retired reality? Who knows – maybe when I’ve been retired a few more years…. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
I do know that I look forward to spending a little time with y’all on Saturday evenings over on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page! Tonight, when I go live at 7pm Eastern, I’ve got a fun fold card for you that you’re really going to like (I know I do!). Take a sneaky peek!
You’ll be seeing some retiring goodies, too!
This is one of my favorite kinds of cards – with a little twist! So…I hope you can join me!
Tonight. 7pm Eastern. Right here.

Finn Fan Fix
You guys MIGHT have heard that Thursday night was a bit of a tornado emergency – first in MS and AL and then here in GA. The super cell (one of my LEAST favorite terms!) marched across GA – hitting Newnan, GA dead to rights. Newnan is only about 25 miles south of us. As the storm tracked across the state – it ended up passing about 6 miles south of us.
We were…safe.
I was…terrified. Yes, you guys – here’s the truth – I am a total sissy la-la-wussy-face when it comes to tornadoes. I have little to no “cope” with them.
Fortunately – Wayne keeps his cool. And I feel pretty confident in his radar watching ability and news-caster-interpreting.
BUT. When the “TORNADO EMERGENCY” warning for our county goes BLARING out on my phone – his phone – my watch….
…I head to the basement. My unfinished basement that I hate being in. 😉
And – I make Finn go with me.
We perch on the stairs – in this case I was on the phone with my friend making sure she – and the kids – were awake and in the basement.
They were.
Wayne stayed upstairs watching the radar.
Finn….not so sure why we’re down here and WHY CAN’T I GO EXPLORE?!? And/or go back to bed. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH MOM!?!?
When Wayne had an update to relay – he’d walk down the hallway to the top of the stairs – right over top of us.
Who’s up there!?!?
I had to take pictures – assuming I’d find them cuter in the safe light of day!
The tornado emergency passed us by and petered out FAST – it hit the cold front and that was the end of that!
I was very grateful for that cold front!
Finn was just happy to get to go back to bed!

I am so glad you are safe and have a safe place to go. The sound of the siren is so scary. We heard it in Huntsville when Gene lived there. We have had them here but no siren materialized. I have to learn how to read the radar on my phone. Gene always was the tracker. If my dinner company has gone by 7 PM, I look forward to seeing your creation. I KNOW I’m going to like it! If not, I’m thankful for the replay. Have a good day Miss Mary.
Yep – Huntsville is tornado-central. Those darned sirens went off a LOT – I remember several weeks of every other night wake-ups! 🙁 Scary stuff, for sure! Hope to see you tonight but if not…have fun with your company! Thank you so much, Karen! 🙂
Looking forward to your video tonight! Glad that the storm went south of you…but sad for those that did get hit. Thankfully you have a basement to go to when you need it!!
Yup – yukky as it is – I was very happy to have it! Thanks very much, Amy! 🙂
Mary,
I heard about the tornados and switched on the Weather channel just as they were saying that a super cell was heading to Fayetteville. They were saying how devastating these tornados are. I said a few prayers for you and was very happy when they said it had petered out just before it hit you. So glad you are all safe now. I also am terrified of tornados but they rarely hit NJ. Thank God!
Yep – we were probably watching the same thing! We’re not in Fayetteville proper so the maps on the weather channel can be misleading – I hone in on the word and forget that we’re not right there! Thank you so much, Gerri – I really appreciate the caring! And am glad y’all don’t get a lot of tornadoes! 🙂
Tornados are scary. I watched one go over my apartment when I lived in Dallas. Oh dopey me. It was creepy. It never touched down thank goodness. I am so glad you are all safe. Poor Finn. I hate storms and we don’t get tornados much in Colorado Springs, just feet of snow. Lol very happy Wayne can monitor. Take good care.
Yes – I’m a mess when Wayne IS here. If he’s not?? I suspect Finn and I would just huddle in a corner of the basement-I-hate all night long! ROFL! And Finn wouldn’t like that a BIT. He wants to sleep in his bedroom! Thanks very much, Diane!! 🙂
Good morning Mary! Glad you, Wayne, Finn, & all your fur family are safe. It really is scary…even watching from Ohio! Just want you to know I ready your posts daily and cherish your artistry & humor they convey. Now more than ever, I appreciate all of my SU friends who share so generously. I value your art but also your spirit! I know so many of us viewing your posts do! Bless you all! Happy Easter!
Thanks for all you do.
Sue Floyd
Oh Sue – thank you SO much! That’s very kind – and I truly am happy to hear that you enjoy what I bring to the table! And appreciate the caring and friendship I’ve gotten thru this amazing business/hobby!! Thank you thank you! 🙂
Mary, the first thing I did after grabbing coffee was to start reading my paper. And I read about that tornado. I grabbed my phone, clicked on your blog, and was so thankful to read your account of the twister passing you guys by. I am so glad you were able to ride it out ok. Stay safe.
Oh – that’s so sweet of you to check on us, Maryanne – I appreciate your caring! Thank you so much, my friend! 🙂
