Stampin’ Up! Healing Hugs and Angled Plaid Tidings

Good morning!  As you read this, I’m hopefully not even up yet!  ROFL!

Like THAT’LL happen!  I’ll be waking up on the beach on Pawley’s Island – and getting ready for the rehearsal dinner tonight.  Then tomorrow is the Big Day!

Like anyone would, I brought my Mealthy Multi-pot so we can have breakfast at the house – I have plans for steel cut oatmeal today with all the extras and Stuffed French Toast with Blueberries tomorrow!  Yum!!

Oh – in case you’re wondering – this is a calories-don’t-count weekend.  I enacted an Executive Order…

So – card!  I used the Healing Hugs stamp set to make a pretty Get Well card – and I combined it with some Plaid Tidings!  Take a look-see:

This kind of unusual color palette comes from the As You See It challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Petal Pink cardstock that I embossed in the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder and adhered to the front of my Basic Gray card base with Liquid Glue.  Tip: remember that embossing a panel that’s the same size as your card front is a great way to get the look – without actually embossing the front of your card base (which can distort the card stock).  🙂

I matted two pieces of Plaid Tidings 6″ x 6″ DSP on Flirty Flamingo and adhered them to the front of the card at a jaunty angle with Liquid Glue.

I adhered a Gold Hoop Embellishment to the card front with a couple of Glue Dots.

For the bows – I cut two lengths of the black and white baker’s twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack.  I used my Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend to color one of the pieces.

I tied each piece into a bow and adhered them to the card front with Glue Dots – I offset them a little!

I stamped the Healing Hugs sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Whisper White.  Over top, I stamped the floral image in Petal Pink.  Then I cut it with a Tasteful Labels die.

I popped the sentiment over the bows and hoop with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a single Champagne Rhinestone to the sentiment and a few more here and there around the card front and the card was done!

On the inside, I added a second Healing Hugs sentiment in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel and added the Petal Pink flower over top.  Then I added a Champagne Rhinestone!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into the Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Healing Hugs flower in Petal Pink on the front…

… and I added another piece of Plaid Tidings to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Healing Hugs is such a pretty card with perfect sentiments and sweet images for cards that we have to make – even if we’d rather not need them, right?

I hope you like and that you’ve got this handy set in your stash (AND some Plaid Tidings DSP!!) – if not…get on that, okay?!

  1. If you see Don or Georgia McDowell, tell them I said hi. They live in Pawley’s Island. Perry and I loved it there. It’s a beautiful setting for a wedding…looking forward to pics. I LOVE this card and will be CASEing it. Plaid and asymmetrical, that’s the ticket! Have fun and enjoy your good eats.

  2. Such a pretty card! Love the clean design…and plaid is always a winner for the background! Awwww…Finn is just so sweet. 🙂

I love your card…sweet! Thank you for the measurements, sometimes its so hard to figure that out! I also love that you used ribbon behind the hoop without other paper embellishments. Works well!

Thanks, Sherrie – yep. I like to give the whole recipes for the cards so y’all can make them easy peasy! 🙂

Mary, I like this a lot! It seems the reverse of the normal, which to me would be to have a dark base and lighter colours in the middle but it looks so good this way. The stamp over the sentiment is a nice touch. Thanks for joining us again at As You See It Challenge.

Thank you, Jan! I love angled panels and plaid so…this seemed juts right! Appreciate you stopping by. 🙂

What a jaunty card this turned out to be, Mary! The two black, gray and white plaids really added to that vibe! Great tag, too! Thanks for adding it to our gallery at As You See It Challenges!

  6. Very pretty, Mary…I love the mix of plaids and how you incorporated the colors into your card…especially the sentiment! Thanks for playing with the As You See It colors this week!

  7. Thanks for sharing your design with us at the As You See It Challenge blog. I love the combination of patterns and texture. Beautiful!
