Stampin’ Up! Poinsettias & Pinecones Christmas Card

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day!  Hope you’re week is going well!  And hope that you’re excited about doing a Christmas card-making party with me on the 17th, using the Wonder of the Season Memories & More Card Packs!!  Check it out above on the Wonder of the Season Flash Sale Party page – you’ve only got until Friday to get signed up!

My card today uses the spectacular Poinsettia Place DSP (on sale right now!!) plus the coordinating Poinsettia Petals stamp set and bundled Poinsettia Dies!  Take a look-see:

How gorgeous is that flower??!

The layout for this one is from the Inspire.Create inspiration Challenge this week!

I started with a small piece of the pinecone-strewn paper from the Poinsettia Place DSP that I adhered to a mat-sized piece of Early Espresso for the card front.

From Very Vanilla, I cut a bunch of flower petals from the Poinsettia Dies: 2 large, 1 medium, 1 small and 1 teensy.  Tip: on the two-piece dies (one piece cuts the shape and the other embosses the veining) – run the card stock thru your cutting machine with both dies in place.  Then carefully remove just the cutting die and run it back thru with the embossing die still in place.  That will give you a really nice emboss!!

I adhered all the flower pieces together with Liquid Glue.

Next, I stamped the berries outline image from Poinsettia Petals three times in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.  I used the fill-image in Cherry Cobbler – then cut them all out with the matching die in the Poinsettia Dies.

I cut three Mossy Meadow berries (have I mentioned this is one of my favorite dies EVER?!?).

To build the collage, I used a little Stampin’ Seal to adhere a length of Old Olive ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo Pack.

Then I added berries – both kinds! – under and around the ribbon with Liquid Glue.

On a 3/4″ wide piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the Poinsettia Petals sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I cut the ends with the Banners Pick a Punch.  I edged the strip with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered it to the card front – using a Stampin’ Dimensional under the left end and Liquid Glue on the flower.

I added some Cherry Cobbler rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone pack and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Poinsettia Petals sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on a Very Vanilla panel.  I also added some Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler berries.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into my Cherry Cobbler card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more berries on the front…

…and more of the Poinsettia Place DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think it goes without saying – but…I’m going to say it anyway!….that this Poinsettia Place Suite – anchored by Poinsettia Petals and the Poinsettia Dies – is going to go down as one of the favorite Stampin’ Up! sets of all time!  What say you?

And – the fact that you can get the Poinsettia Place DSP for 15% off?  Yes, please!

I hope you like LOVE!

Finn Fan Fix

Just a dog.

Staring out into his pasture.

…with hitch-hikers inexplicably attached to his shoulder blade.  And – as it would turn out later…a LOT of other places! 😉

  1. This is such a beautiful card. Your Zoom party sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I hope you get many takers. We have those ghastly hitchhikers in our lawn. Even washing our socks doesn’t remove them…only hand picking. I can’t imagine what it’s like trying to comb them out of a fur coat. Have a wonderful day. It’s definitely a crafting day!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – they stick to clothes like crazy! 🙁 Thanks so much, Karen – happy crafting! 🙂

  2. Susan K

Et Voila! What a beauty! Perfect card for the sketch. Love how you used the paper—got more of it yesterday so need to make this to use some of it…and so it’ll impress friends at Christmas! TFS. Bet Finn had more fun getting those pesky hitchhikers than he did getting rid of them!

    • stampsnlingers

Yeah – the brushing them out part isn’t nearly as fun as the getting them in part! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  3. Oh, that poinsettia is stunning in vanilla! Perfectly layered and designed! A good watchdog must remain vigilant for the pasture intruders even when stickers are present in ones fur… 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – push thru the discomfort! That’s what a guard dog does for sure!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. Weeds on the shoulder blades and other places?
This is one beautiful card. Will have to CASE this one!
