Stampin’ Up! Layered Blossoms Video Sneak Peek!

Good morning – happy Space X Launch-with-Humans Day!

I don’t think that’s the name of the day.  Totally made it up.  But – it could be! 😉

Whether the men get airborne today or not, I’ll be going Live tonight, at 7pm Eastern, on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page.  I’ve got a card using some Ornate Floral embossing, a little Christmas Layers (remember that one?!?) and the new Blossoms in Bloom Bundle!  Here’s a sneaky peek!

It’s fun and bright and a little bit girly – and I think you’re going to like it!

So…I hope you can join me.  Tonight.  7pm Eastern.  Right here! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Heads up – this is long FFF and not really very Finn-centric.  🙂

Okay – by a show of hands…how many of you love going to the dentist?

That was easy to count.

How many of you hate it??

WAAAAY more! 😉

Well – Friday was dentistry day for the Deatherage girls.

Warning – the following pictures – and a video! – will for sure make you realize that going to the people dentist is NOTHING!

We started with our guard dog heralding the arrival of the vet – he heard him coming long before we could see him!

Once we decided that they needed floating (that’s what it’s called when the vet files the sharp points off horse teeth) – our good vet Dr. Jason McClendon from Southern Crescent Equine Services began to set up.

At this point, the girls were munching hay.  Which is good – cuz…it looks like a torturer’s lair! 😳😳😳

On a brighter note – they were both tranquilized for the “procedure” so…I promise it looks way worse for them than it actually was.

First – a mouth rinse to get rid of the grass and hay tucked here and there…

They use a padded head sling to get the head in position – easier on everyone – including Cerah!  See that floppy lip?  She’s pretty out of it at this point.  They use the goooood stuff!!

And then…out come the power tools!

No – really.  Power tools.

Horse teeth are HARD – vets used to use a hand file – and the amount of effort – in a cramped space with a protesting horse (I’d protest, too!) was horrendous.  This makes it much more doable!

Which is NOT to say that it’s easy work!

So – here’s a video – it’s loud.  But…it shows the process – and you can hear (and then see!) Cady – who is quite concerned for her mom…

What was Finn doing?

When it came time for Cady – she did fine. Her mom was a little too…out of it in her stall to care.  And she probably thought it was fair that her kid had to go to the dentist, too!

Once it was all over….Finn came to “help” Cady stagger back to her bedroom.  She’s a bit….tipsy!

When it was over – the REAL pain started!  NO FOOD OR WATER FOR TWO WHOLE HOURS!!

The horror!  The unfairness of it all. 🙂

They were okay for a bit – sleeping it off…

But then they woke up enough to realize they were being starved to DEATH!

Fortunately – the rest of their “bed rest” went quickly and they got to back to the pasture to make up for lost time.

They came up for dinner in fine fettle – fully recovered – and with smooth and ready-to-chew choppers! 🙂

See?  None the worse for wear!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this inside look at the glamorous life of ponies and their parents! 😉

  1. Looking forward to seeing your card tonight! I’ll try to be on time. 🙂 Hmmm…tranquilizers, done while you’re home and no idea what’s going on…does the vet do human teeth house calls??? 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – with a ginormous hammer drill! 😉 Thanks!

  2. Wow! Not being a horse or pony person, I had no idea. I thought shoeing was the major deal. Finn didn’t take it too hard, looks like.
Hope I don’t get sidetracked tonight. Probably will watch the launch. Good excuse to not have to pull weeds!

    • stampsnlingers

I can take ANY excuse on weed pulling! Yep – it’s an “event” for sure! Thanks, Julie – glad you were able to join us tonight! 🙂

  3. Faith Simpson

oh mercy me….and I thought going to the people dentist was torture……oh goodness……no words…..well, thanks for sharing this interesting part of your life……
looking forward to Facebook live later today…..

    • stampsnlingers

      You’re welcome – it’s definitely a glamourous life!! 🙂

  4. Susan K

Set my alarm for tonight. What an interesting process. Glad there were drugs for the girls! I liked that Finn was such a good helper!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he’s a helped, for sure! I don’t know that you could get it done without the drugs. I for sure wouldn’t stand still for it! Thanks, Susan! 🙂

  5. Kathy L

Hi Mary, I enjoyed your FFF today with the videos, too. Always heard about the tooth-filing, but never have seen it. That looks and sounds exactly like what happens to me when I have dental drilling!!! 😄😄😄 Except the girls get a little happy juice, but I don’t!
    I’ll see you this afternoon.

    • stampsnlingers

We get nitrous – so…it’s not so bad! Thanks, Kathy! 🙂

  6. Gerri K

Mary, I learn SO much from your blog. Not just paper crafting. This was so interesting to me. I never gave a horse dentist a thought. Didn’t know they existed. Thanks for sharing. I’ll see you tonight on your fb live.

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – horse dentistry is a thing! One I’m glad I don’t have to do! Thanks much, Gerri! 🙂

  7. I was 3 minutes late for the end of your video so I’ll have to catch the replay. We got home at 2 PM and only had rain for a few minutes in FL but lots of fog in NC and GA. Atlanta was still no joy even in the wee early morning hours on a Saturday no less. Where were all those people going?? On our way through Ellijay Gene wondered if he saw our retreat place high on a hill…it had LOTS of windows! It was only 94 when we got home with 100% humidity!! Loved the tale of the teeth! Your girls are beauties!

    • stampsnlingers

There’s no good time in Atlanta – even during a pandemic! Glad you’re safely home! 🙂
