Stampin’ Up! Celebrate Sunflowers Sneak Peek for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

So – yesterday afternoon (okay – it was more like dinner time, cuz I’d been playing with my new goodies and doing some craft room organzing!) the power went out.  Right in the middle of making my card.

It wasn’t looking good, my peeps!

But – I pushed on thru – and created a card for you with a new bundle that I’ve been itching to get my hands on since I first saw it.  The Celebrate Sunflowers bundle!  Take a look-see:

And here’s our sketch!

You guys should have seen me – check it out…

I’m not going to say I’m dedicated but…c’mon!  Battery operated lantern!?! 😉  I figure this is how Laura Ingalls Wilder’s craft room would have looked if she’d been Blogging on the Prairie! 😉

So – I started with a piece of Bumble Bee paper in the brand new World of Good Specialty DSP (available on 3 Jun!) that I embossed in the wonderful – also coming on 3 Jun – Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder (makes it look like I wadded it up and smoothed it out!) and matted on Cinnamon Cider card stock.

I cut a Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle Die and embossed it in the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used some Glue Dots to adhere the brand-spanking-new Antiqued Corners & Slides to three of the corners.  Y’all – I don’t have the words to express how much I LOVE these little embellishments!!

For the flower and leaves, I first stamped the big Celebrate Sunflower flower in Crushed Curry on Very Vanilla – and cut it with the solid die in the Sunshine Dies.  I used the detailed flower die to cut a Crushed Curry flower and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I stamped two large leaves in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla and painted them with my Clear Wink of Stella – pulling the ink into the leaf.  I cut two detailed leaves from Mossy Meadow and adhered them with Liquid Glue.  I cut some solid leaves from Cinnamon Cider and Mossy Meadow.

The sentiment, from Celebrate Sunshine, is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla.  I used a Stitched Rectangle Die – moving it to create a slightly longer die to accommodate the length of the sentiment.

Then it was time to build my collage and take my picture.

By…lantern-light! 🙂

I adhered the leaves with Liquid Glue.  Then I added a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon (Boy – I am REALLY going to miss this! 🙁 ).  Then I popped the sunflower on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The sentiment is adhered with Dimensionals and Liquid Glue

The finishing touch was a Bumble Bee enamel dot from the new 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Celebrate Sunshine in Mossy Meadow to a Very Vanilla panel. In the corner, using the Stamparatus and the Marker-to-Rubber inking technique to color and stamp the small flower from the set in Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow. I used my Clear Wink of Stella and Light Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blend – then added some little Soft Suede dots with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cinnamon Cider mat and into my Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another small sunflower on the front…

…and more of the World of Good Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I absolutely love love LOVE this Celebrate Sunflowers bundle, don’t you?  And with the addition of some wonderful goodies from the World of Good Suite – like the Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder, World of Good Specialty DSP and some Antiqued Corners & Slides and….we’ve got a winner!!  Of course, you can get the Scripty 3D Folder and the Burlap Ribbon (while it lasts!) right now – the rest?  Got to wait until 3 June!  I hope you like!

  1. WOW!!! I don’t know the words other than this card is absolutely stunning Mary 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

It’s a wonderful bundle, for sure! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  2. You are just awesome!! Great card too!😊

  3. OMG, you are amazing! I took that suite off my order and now I have to put it back on! Your card is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! AND you cracked me up with your reference to the prairie blogger! I just can’t figure out how you got this done and linked…but then I don’t understand the linkage anyway.

    • stampsnlingers

Fortunately, the power came back on after a couple hours and I was able to get the post done! Was thinking I’d have to get up early to do it!! Thanks so much for the kind words, Karen! 🙂

  4. That’s awesome Mary!! So glad that you were able to share it with us even though the power was out. 🙂 Love that sunflower and the embossed background is amazing!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks – isn’t that folder just the best!?? Love it!

  5. Carlyn

Wow…this card is gorgeous! Love it!!!

  6. Faith Simpson

oh my…..I’m almost word-less…..I LOVE sunflowers, and this card is just the best. I do hope your power came back on…..probably did as soon as you finished the card! Your dedication is appreciated !!

    • stampsnlingers

It did in time for me to get pictures and do the blog post! I was afraid I was going to have to do it before the hop went live this morning! Thank you so much, Faith! 🙂

  7. You did it, didn’t you?! You said in your box opening video (which I caught later BTW) that you were going to use that sunflower and that handmade paper embossing folder. What a gorgeous card. I haven’t even read the text of your blog yet, and just had to comment. Who knows? I may have more to say after I peruse your blog.

    • stampsnlingers

Why yes – yes I did! It was too wonderful and sitting RIGHT THERE! How could I resist?!? Thank you so much, Julie!! 🙂

  8. GAil Spencegailspence

Mary, I love your sense of humor and your perseverance!

  9. Yellow is not my favorite color, but sometimes it is a MUST. It appears the Bumblebee isn’t much different than the Crushed Curry, maybe lighter?? Cheers to you for persevering in getting your card done by battery lantern! However, I don’t think LIW would have had more than candles or perhaps a kerosene lamp, either of which would make poor light for card making. Nice try though. Great card. That set is on my wish list.

    • stampsnlingers

Might be a little lighter – and a little less…brown?…than Crushed Curry. And yea – I had a little more light than LIW – but…when you’re USED to 3 Ott Lights… Yikes! 😉 Thanks, Julie – this is an awesome set! 🙂

  10. My goodness, you sure are dedicated! Power or no power, you have created a STUNNING card and now I wish I had ordered this bundle and that gorgeous embossing folder, too. LOVE this card so much and so glad you pushed through with a lantern to create it!!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Eva! Was glad the power came back in time for me to do the blog!!

  11. darla

We appreciate your perseverance thru the power outage. Power companies don’t have any idea how hard, and critical, it is when you’re in the middle of a craft project, especially nowadays!! hehe and I love this sunflower and its die. Thank you for sharing!! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – they most definitely do NOT! We’re “essential”! LOL! Thanks so much, Darla – this is a wonderful new bundle! 🙂

  12. Gerri K

Beautiful card Mary! This new catalog is awesome!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh it is -it really really is!! 🙂

  13. Susan K

You rocked. It, Pioneer Woman (oh, wait, she’s the cook!). This is awesomeness at its finest! Get that new Pinterest board set up, Amy!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – she cooks! Wonderful food! Thanks so much, Susan – appreciate you! 🙂
