Stampin’ Up! Music From the Heart Just a Note

Hey guys – happy Monday!  Hope you had a safe weekend.  We had thunderstorms and tornado threats last night.  Sunday=severe weather, I guess.  I’ll be glad to get out of this particular rut!

I know a lot of you joined us on our Ornate Garden FB Event this past Saturday – and you know the card I shared was pretty “normal” for me – lots of layers, a little bling. 😉  Well – today’s card is so not like that!  I went clean and simple with the sweet Music From the Heart stamp set – and a few other goodies here and there.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

And the cool color palette is from the Color Throwdown this week!

I started with a piece of the Peaceful Poppies DSP that I embossed in the new Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder and matted on Basic Black for the card front.

I wrapped a length of 1/2″ Black Satin Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

I cut out a Whisper White Rectangle Stitched die cut and used the Stamparatus to stamp the music staff from Music From the Heart in Smoky Slate.

I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and the sweet heart-note in Poppy Parade.

I popped the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added three black Peaceful Poppies Sequins across the top with little dabs of Liquid Glue.  When the glue dried, I filled in the little holes using the brush end of my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker.

I used a Glue Dot to add a small bow tied with the 1/2″ Black Satin Ribbon and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second Music From the Heart sentiment in Tuxedo Black, and a Poppy Parade note, to a Whisper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Poppy Parade notes on the front…

…and a little more Peaceful Poppies DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such a sweet stamp set – Music From the Heart gives you a multitude of musical images and sentiments for all your card making needs!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Do you guys remember…bubble gum cigars and cigarettes?

I do.

Yes.  I am that old.

That was back when smoking was cool.  Or – at least we kids thought so!

I’ve given Finn “the talk” about cigarettes and smoking (and vaping – gotta keep up with the times!) – so he knows it’s not cool.  And bad for him.

But…you know.  He’s still a kid.

He runs with scissors, too…

  1. I hadn’t taken a sip of coffee yet when I got to the FFF. Oh my goodness, he ain’t smokin’ no ceegar! I just used the Music set yesterday. It is so underused and I hope it carries over. Your card will be CASED! I love the design and that BOW…swoon. As in the words of Mary, “wunnermus”! Have a great day, friend.

Thanks very much, Karen – glad you didn’t have to snort coffee first thing on a Monday morning! 🙂

  2. Such a cute card! Love the clean design and your sentiment is perfect. Yep, gotta get after them young to make sure that doesn’t become a habit. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – too easy to fall in with the wrong crowd these days! 😉 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. LindaB

Finn just gets more and more gorgeous, whatever he’s doing! Love the card, Mary, even if it isn’t your “usual”.

    • stampsnlingers

He’s a handsome fella, for sure! Thanks, Linda! 🙂

    Hi Mary,
Such cute pictures of Finn…..got a chuckle as often happens.
Glad you survived the weather weekend…..again.
Love this card! I noticed ladies saying they only make one card….never two alike. I can’t say that. When I see a card I really, really like, I do assembly line stamping and make 10 or 12….make it my card of the month or keep a stash. I’ve done that with this music stamp set…..comes in SO handy.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – it’s nice to have them on hand, I’m sure!! And the stamparatus is so handy for that. Thanks so much, Faith – appreciate you! 🙂

  5. Pamela Kjono

Thanks for the chuckles I get from Finn. They are so needed these days. And thanks for the beautiful cards you post every day. I look forward to both.

Laughing is ALWAYS good, right?!? Thanks very much, Pamela, for the kind words! 🙂

  6. Susan K

This is such a sweet card. I love this stamp set and need to use it more. I think I’ll make a set of this card and give to a musically talented friend of mine. TFS.

  7. bhholcombe

Super sweet CAS design!! Thanks so much for playing along with us at the Color Throwdown this week!

  8. Oh my, Mary. Beautifully simple card. I know, not your style, or mine either, but sometimes it is just what is needed. I got this set primarily because my girls both play piano, and one still plays clarinet for various events and church. I like Susan K’s idea to make a set of them as a gift. Why didn’t I think of that???
Finn is too funny. I really hope that is a stick and not a cigar he picked up somewhere. YUK! My granddad smoked cigars…..IN THE CAR, with windows rolled up. I ’bout gag when I smell a cigar. So, keep harping at him not to develop bad habits. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – definitely a stick! Wet mushy ceegar….bleh. 🤢🤢🤢 Thanks so much, Julie – I hope you do a gift set!!

  9. This is definitely a fabulous CAS design. I love this “heart-note” Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
