Stampin’ Up! Amazing Ornate Borders Thank You Card

Good morning, y’all!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend and Palm Sunday!

Now, my card today, by rights, should be an anniversary card.

For me and Wayne.  For THIRTY YEARS!  Wha….?  Whe….??  HOW the heck did that happen?!?  Feels like a really long time some days – and others?  Like a blink.  It truly is hard to believe so many years have passed.

Our anniversary rituals are pretty ingrained – so it’s simply devastating to be confined to the house this year.  We usually dress up in our finest – go out to a fancy restaurant…maybe a movie or dancing after.

ROFL!!!  Oh stop – I’m killing myself!!

Our “ritual” is to…pretty much totally forget the day!  Like…three days AFTER, we’ll look at each other and be like…did we miss our Anniversary again?  How many years WAS this!?

Yeah.  We are romantic devils, for certain sure!  So being confined to the house is no big.  🙂

So – my ACTUAL card today is a clean-and-simple thank you card made with elements of the new Ornate Garden Suite – and a couple of embossing folders.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And it fits perfectly with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock that I embossed twice.  The first time was in the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder – and I only did about 1/3 of the right side of the panel.  I embossed the other side in the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I matted the panel on So Saffron for the card front.

Using one of the dies in the Ornate Borders die set, I cut out a piece from some Old Olive cardstock.  With my Paper Snips, I carefully snipped off part of the die cut – then I adhered the remainder with Liquid Glue, right over the “seam” between the two embossed portions.

From So Saffron card stock, I cut the three flowers from Ornate Borders and adhered them to the die cut with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the sentiment from Ornate Thanks in Old Olive on Whisper White and cut it with the smallest narrow Stitched Rectangle Die.   Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Each flower got a pink Frosted Flower Embellishment and a Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the middle.  Then, I added a final Rhinestone to the sentiment and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Ornate Thanks in Old Olive on Whisper White.  Under that, in Blushing Bride, I added another sentiment.  I stamped the little Ornate Style flower in Old Olive and colored it with my Light Old Olive and Light So Saffron Stampin’ Blends.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a So Saffron mat and into my Blushing Bride card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Ornate Style flowers on the front…

…and a little Blushing Bride paper from the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am love love loving all the sentiment combinations we can make with the wonderful – and HUGE! – Ornate Thanks stamp set!  And the bundled Ornate Borders die set gives super fun decorative options!  I hope you like and are ADDING THIS SUITE to your stash!!  Be sure to check out my money-saving limited time Special Bundle offer down below!

Finn Fan Fix

Warning – non-Finn-Finn-Fan Fix ahead! 😉

So…my day revolves around satisfying every whim of my tyrannical little cat.

She wants three things from me.

Food – a very specific couple of kinds (don’t even TRY to mess with this) – and as frequently as it occurs to her to want said food.

Pettings – on her timeline and to her exacting specification.

Laptime.

Mornings go like….wake up.  Feed the cat.  Put the dog out.  Make my coffee.  Put dog bone in bowl.  Let dog in.  Pick up cat bowl (unless I just WANT Finn to clean it all up).  Then…sit down and…hold the cat.

Evenings.  Feed the cat.  Feed the dog.  Feed the people.  Sit down and…yes.  Hold the cat.

She’s an old lady.  Gonna be a bit of a hole when she leaves us, wouldn’t you say?

In totally different news… the other day on one of my videos, I mentioned freezing eggs.  Here’s what they look like…

I fork-beat one or two eggs in a bowl and pour them into a silicone ice cube tray (I got this one on Amazon but it’s showing out of stock):

Freeze.  The cubes pop out super easy and then I just store them in gallon freezer bags.  Awesome for scrambled eggs or recipes needing eggs!  They are, however, not even SORT of good if you’re wanting an egg over easy!  😉

  8. Charlotte Hutcheson

Hey Mary, I’m glad that your kitty is getting some time in the spotlight. BTW I am going to order the Ornate Garden Special Bundle deal for $124.00 but have to wait until April 14…sorta my payday. Congratulations on your anniversary and the number of years…I agree. Sometimes it seems as if Barry and I have known each other forever and then it seems but the blink of an eye. On June 26, we will celebrate our 55th anniversary…barring unforeseen circumstances and the creek don’t rise…my life has been beyond my wildest dreams. With my kind, loyal, clean, brave, reverent, and loving husband and paper crafting, I will weather this particular storm. Stay sane, safe, and well!

    • stampsnlingers

Congrats on a long and happy marriage, Charlotte – it IS work. But the payday is the kind, loyal, clean, brave, reverent and loving husband! Thanks very much, Charlotte – stay safe and healthy! 🙂

  9. Gerri K

Ok, Mary. You casually drop the bomb you and Wayne have been married for 30 years, and then move on with life? Crazy lady! Celebrate this wonderful marriage of love! At least give him a big smooch on the lips! And Happy Anniversary to the both of you!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Maryanne! Appreciate the kind words and….okay. Smooch done! 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Kath – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  12. So sorry! I got busy yesterday and didn’t read this post. Congratulations on 30 years. Yes, it is work, but anything worth having is worth the work. We had 30 years. Lovely card. Like Floridaperson said, it is CAS and so NOT you, but lovely anyway. My kitty was not a lap sitter either, until a year or so ago. She is 22, so, like Katy, getting up there in years. Daughter is already trying to convince me to get another cat. Nope! Not until I no longer travel. Stay safe, and Happy Anniversary, late, to both of you. Hope Finn’s nose isn’t out of joint.

    • stampsnlingers

His nose if firmly in joint! 😉 Thanks, Julie. I am not going to be anxious to get another kitty – I’m a little tired of cleaning litter boxes. That said – I can’t actually remember a time I did NOT have a kitty in my life – even took one with me to pilot training. Maybe a couple years in college in the dorm…? We’ll see. Thank you so much for the kind words, Julie! 🙂

  13. Happy anniversary and thanks for sharing your thank you card with us at Watercooler Wednesday. Love the inside too.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Michelle! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
