Stampin’ Up! Under My Umbrella Sneak Peek Friends Forever

Happy Day-After-Thanksgiving-AKA-Christmas-Decorations-Day-AKA-LOCK-THE-DOOR-AND-HIDE-UNDER-THE-COVERS-CUZ-IT’S-BLACK-FRIDAY!!

Do YOU go out on Black Friday?

If Finn or Katy HAD to go to the vet – I’d go.  But that’s about the only reason I’d leave my place on Black Friday!

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving – and have recovered from any possible over-indulgence!  We had a wonderful afternoon with our friends.

Before I started cooking yesterday, I made a fun little card to share with you today – with a little Sneak Peek from the 2020 Jan – Jun Mini Catalog.  This is a great card for a friend and it uses a nice little bundle that you MIGHT overlook when you get your catalog – called Under My Umbrella with the bundled Umbrella Punch.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is loosely inspired by this week’s challenge from The Paper Players – and a bit of a CASE from the new catalog!

I started with a piece of our Fluid 100 Watercolor paper for the card front.  Using Pool Party Ink and my Aqua Painter, I picked up ink from the lid and swiped it across the top of the panel to create “sky”.  For the ground, I used my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush in the same way to “watercolor” some Smoky Slate.

The rain is Pool Party, using an image in the set – I stamped here and there, twice without re-inking.

I adhered the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the sentiment from the Under My Umbrella set (coming on 4 Jan 20) in Pretty Peacock.  I love that sentiment, don’t you? 🙂

I used Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to stamp the umbrella image on a beautiful piece of paper from the new Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP (also coming on 4 Jan!).  Then I punched that with the bundled Umbrella Punch.

I also used the punch to make the handle – which is stamped in Soft Suede on Soft Suede cardstock.

The flowers and the rain boots are fussy cut!

I stamped several of the flower images in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White, and the rain boots on a piece of Daffodil Delight paper in the Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Then I fussy cut them all!

The flowers are colored with my Clear Wink of Stella brush, in Petal Pink, Cherry Cobbler, Pineapple Punch, Pear Pizzazz, and Pool Party.

With everything cut and ready to go – I created my focal art.

I adhered the boots and the handle with Liquid Glue.  Then I added two of the flower bunches with Liquid Glue over the handle.

Next, I popped the umbrella on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The last flower spray is adhered with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional and Liquid Glue.

I finished off with a few Frosted drops from the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Under My Umbrella in Pretty Peacock on a Very Vanilla panel.  Over the sentiment, I stamped the rain image a couple of times in stamped-off-once Pool Party ink.  Then I added some flowers in the corners in Tuxedo Black, coloring them as I’d done on the front of the card.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Under My Umbrella flowers on the front…

…and a little more of the Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Under My Umbrella stamp set and bundled Umbrella Punch might be a bit of a fly-over bundle – but…don’t let it be!  It has such cool sentiments – perfectly matched to the umbrella, flowers and rain images.  And…PUNCH!!  Loves me some punches!  I hope you like and that you’ll consider this one for your Wish List!

Finn Fan Fix

So – do you guys decorate the day after Thanksgiving?  We usually do.

Or I always want to – sometimes my “want” and my “do” are at odds with each other.

But – one thing is fur sure…

It’s beginning to look a lot like a puppy Christmas!

I THINK his Dad might have let him peek – even after I told him not to…maybe he’ll forget what he saw by the 25th! 😉

  1. This would be a good set for baby or wedding shower and I wish SU had included sentiments for that. Your colors and design are very pretty. I think Finn’s Christmas toys are wonderful.

Well – there’s Showered with Love – that would work for a shower card? Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Sweet card! Love the images and design, perfect! 🙂 Hope that you’ve got your sutures and scalpels ready for after Christmas. 😉

Sneak peeks are always fun Mary and your colourful flowers and paper-pieced umbrella and wellies are adorable! A creative take on the sketch too. Thanks for playing along with my sketch challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

Thanks so much, Claire! I appreciate you stopping by on the Holiday weekend! 🙂

  5. Anne Marie Hile

I had to chuckle at your comment about Black Friday, Mary! We have a rule that there is no deal out there worth battling a crowd on Black Friday…or even Thanksgiving for that matter. If I want something that bad, I’ll just point and click on my computer. Haha! I LOVE your card! The soft colors and raindrop background really bring this stamp set to life. So pretty! Thanks so much for joining us this week over at The Paper Players!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes indeed! The internet is SOOO much easier than…PARKING!! Thanks much, Anne Marie. Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
