Stampin’ Up! Beauty & Joy So Thankful!

‘Sup, y’all?  Are you having a good week?  I am starting to settle down and enjoy being retired, I think!  We spent yesterday getting some shopping done, having lunch at Costco and wandering thru Sams.  Then we came home and watched a movie.

All without checking work e-mails or worrying about a meeting in the afternoon!  It sort of didn’t suck! 😉

I did settle in enough to make a card to share with you – and it’s a super easy one – using one of my favorite design techniques – angled panels.  And I did it with the pretty Beauty & Joy stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The color scheme for this one is from this week’s TGIF Challenges.

And the thankful theme fits nicely with the Just Us Girls Word Week challenge.

I started with a panel of Early Espresso card stock that I embossed in the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing folder and then matted on Pear Pizzazz for the card front.

Next up – two pieces of Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP – one in Calypso Coral and the other in Pear Pizzazz.  I cut a Rectangle Stitched Die from each one and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

For the art – I inked up the leaves image from Beauty & Joy in Calypso Coral and stamped it off once on scrap paper.  Then I stamped it about 5 times without re-inking – turning the stamp a little bit each time – to create the full “tree” top.  For a little shimmer, I stamped the image one time in Golden Glitz Delicata Ink.

Under the tree top – I stamped the basket image in Early Espresso.  Then I cut the image with the second-largest Stitched Shapes circle die.

I popped the circle onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On another piece of Whisper White – I stamped the sentiment in Pear Pizzazz and cut it with a Stitched Rectangle Die.  I added it with Liquid Glue and a Dimensional (on the right end).

I tied a simple bow with two lengths of Whisper White Solid Baker’s twine and adhered it with a scrunched up Glue Dot.  To finish off, I added a small Gold Glitter Enamel Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a Pear Pizzazz-matted piece of Calypso Coral Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP to the bottom of a Whisper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Calypso Coral “tree top” and an Early Espresso trunk on the front…

…and I added a little more of the Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Simple – but beautiful.  That’s how I see the Beauty & Joy stamp set and I know you will, too!  I hope you like!

Purple Posy Ink To Be Discontinued Permanently

Stampin’ Up! provided us with an update about Purple Posy Inks.  Despite their efforts to resolve issues with Purple Posy ink, they’ve learned that the ink color is still shifting over time.

All of Stampin’ Up!’s exclusive ink colors are run through a vigorous series of tests to get ahead of challenges like this, and to ensure colors are accurate and meet our standards of coordination. Purple Posy DID pass regular testing standards in time-simulating ovens, but they’ve now identified that it fell short when it came to actual time passing. The color begins to shift once the ink has rested in the ink pad for about six weeks.

This means that the color isn’t coordinating with our other colors as strictly as SU! requires.  Due to these ongoing challenges, they’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue Purple Posy classic ink as of November 5, 2019.  The following items will no longer be available to purchase:

  • Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Pad (item 150084)
  • Purple Posy Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill (item 150091)
  • 2019–2021 In Color Classic Stampin’ Pad Assortment (item 150087)

All other Purple Posy products (such as Purple Posy Stampin’ Write Marker, Purple Posy Cardstock, Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends, etc.) will remain available for purchase.

So – I know this is disappointing to many of you – but…I am actually pleased that SU! is taking this step.  One of the major draws of Stampin’ Up! products is the color coordination across the different products.  We can count on things matching up as we create!  And if Purple Posy isn’t “matching up” – then….this is the right thing to do!

Already purchased the ink pad a refill?  While Stampin’ Up! can’t replace Purple Posy ink pads for customers who’ve already received them, anyone with concerns regarding the color shifting properties of their Purple Posy ink pads may contact Demonstrator Support and receive a $7.50 coupon code as compensation. The coupon codes will expire on January 1, 2020.

Thanks for your understanding, y’all!

Finn Fan Fix

How do you tell this face that he’s simply too big to be a lap dog anymore??

Uhm…you really don’t.

His self-assessment skills are pretty suspect…

  1. So pretty! Love the fall colors and the off-set gingham panels. Why would you think that Finn is too big to be a lap dog??? He seems to think that he fits perfectly…you just need a bigger chair. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

      I know – it’s all a matter of perspective!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. tamihewlett

Love the gingham!!! Your card is so pretty. The fall basket is just perfect. Thanks for joining TGIF Challenges this week.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks much, Tami – and thanks for taking time to come by! 🙂

  3. Such a pretty card, Mary. The Gingham DSP looks great with the color combo.

  4. Cyndie Soquet

Thanks for the laugh today. I love reading about Finn. He so entertaining. Got to love him!!!

    • stampsnlingers

And I surely do! He’s ALWAYS good for a smile or a chuckle! Thanks, Cyndie! 🙂

  5. Faith Simpson

    Hi Mary,
I need some “thank you” cards this week…..love what you did with this stamp set!
Love seeing Finn on your lap too…..that really shows how big he has gotten. Is that mostly fur?? How much does he weigh? No matter how big, he’ll always want to be mama’s baby!!

    • stampsnlingers

There’s a lot of fur, no doubt. But he’s right around 80 pounds – he’s BIG BOY! And he will ALWAYS be his Mama’s Baby!! Thanks, Faith – have fun making thank you cards! 🙂

  6. Lovely card you have created here Mary. The angled card stock adds so much interest and shows of your coloured tree tops. Thanks for sharing at Just Us Girls this week.

  7. Gerri K

    Hi Mary,
Love the way you did the leaves in the basket. You filled them in beautifully without a bunch of colors. I will be trying that method.
Finn looks SO big!! I miss having a large dog. The older we get, the smaller our dogs get. Our latest is a 10 pound rescued Maltese. We love him to death but his bark is so squeaky. lol

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – a squeaky bark. Well – I’m sure HE thinks he sounds like a ROTTWEILLER!!! 🙂 Thanks much, Gerri!! 🙂

  8. Great card. I have a ton of thank you cards to do, so thanks for the help. Lap dog? I think not! But don’t tell Finn I said so.

    • stampsnlingers

I won’t! I think he’s starting to get a hint that MAYBE he’s too big! 😉 Thanks, Julie!

  9. Genie

There is only one word for Finn. Awwwwwwwww
