Stampin’ UP! Butterfly Gala Happiness Blooms

Good morning, you guys. There’s no easy way to say this so…I’ll just come right out with it.  I’m sorry to tell you that I’ve decided to resign from Stampin’ Up! I realized this weekend that I am having trouble juggling work and SU! and something has to give.  Much as I love Stampin’ Up! – and YOU guys!! – I have to make the decision that makes the most sense for me and my family.

So – we’ll do this one last card and…this will be my last blog post. 🙁

The card I have to share with you uses the Happiness Blooms DSP and a few sentiments from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a Calypso Coral card base and cut two panels of Happiness Blooms DSP the same size as the front of the card base.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere one panel to the card front and the other to the inside of the card.

Next, I took a Whisper White panel and embossed it in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF, then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used some Glue Dots to adhere a length of Calypso Coral 3/8″ Satin Ribbon over the seam on the card front.

For the sentiment, I chose one from the new Butterfly Gala stamp set and stamped it in Call Me Clover on Whisper White.  I punched it with the Tailored Tag Punch and added some faux stitches with my Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped three leaves from the Bloom By Bloom stamp set in Call Me Clover on a piece of Whisper White and fussy cut them. I also fussy cut a Pineapple Punch flower from one of the designs in the Happiness Blooms DSP.

I adhered two leaves to the card front with Liquid Glue and popped the third one on with a Dimensional.  Then I added the fussy cut flower with a little Liquid Glue.

I added a few Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Butterfly Gala sentiment in Call Me Clover to a Whisper White panel.  Then I stamped one of the flowers in Pineapple Punch and added some Calypso Coral faux stitches.

I adhered the panel to the inside of the card with Liquid Glue and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a few more Bloom By Bloom flowers on the front…

…and then I added a little more Happiness Blooms DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t this a fun card?  Love this Happiness Blooms DSP – it’s so darned bright and cheery.  And the Butterfly Gala has wonderful sentiments – making it an awesome set to own – even if you never stamped a butterfly!  I hope you like!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL!!! ROFL. Glad I hadn’t just taken a mouthful of soda or something – I’d have snorted it right out! 🙂 Thanks for the chuckle, Karen! 🙂 And that WILL happen one day – and it’s getting closer, I’m pretty sure! 🙂

  6. Elisha Smith

You had me for about 10 seconds and then I remembered the date! You rascal 😂🤣 Very sweet card – that sentiment works perfectly with the Tailored Tag punch👍

    • stampsnlingers

LOL!! That’s me – a true waskaly wascal! Thanks so much, Elisha! 🙂

  7. Sweet card! Love the clean design! And your joke was not even a little funny. Ha! 😉

  8. Sandra Warthen

You Stinker! You made my heart stop…What would I ever do with out you? We are going to Dahlonega at the end of April. So sorry you won’t be home. I was looking forward to seeing you and meeting the “man”.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh man! Wish you were going even a week or two later – I should be home by the 5th of May! Would love to see you guys and have you meet Finn! He LOVES company even more than I do!! Do holler if your trip slides or you’re still in the area!! And – not to worry. Y’all can’t get rid of me that easy! 🙂

  9. Pat Ropchan

I am sorry to hear you are leaving because I really look forward to your posts: your sense of humour and your beautiful cards. We will all miss you and the Man. However, you have made a wise choice. Life shouldn’t be as hectic as we let it get.
Good health and a good life to you.

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Pat – thank you very much for the so-kind words. But…this was just an April Fool’s joke! I’ll be around for as long as y’all will read my posts and look at my cards and my sweet Fur-kid!! 🙂

  10. Kay V.

You did fool me for a second. but about the second sentence I realized it is 4-1-19. And I knew that by the end of the post you would come clean. …I love your blog and am always amazed at how you “juggle” life-job-crafting. Thank you, Mary, for your daily inspiration. . .

    • stampsnlingers

Glad you figured it out so fast, Kay! 🙂 Thanks for the nice words! 🙂

  11. Happy April Fool’s Day to you, too! Cute card, love all the details you added.

  12. Kate

April fool greetings to you too!!! 😁

  13. Rita

Mary, you will be GREATLY missed …. but your decision is completely understandable. You’ve given us so much joy with your wonderful sense of humor, delightful cards and sharing Mr. Finn and your other furry friends with us! You have also inspired me as I’ve begun my weight loss journey in 2019 (I’m down 18 pounds since January 11th)! It’s obvious that you’ve loved card making and that’s the sweet part that you will always have …. and you have the knowledge that you’ve been a delight to all of us who have visited your blog each day. God bless you and your family and please give Finn a BIG HUG FROM ME!

    • stampsnlingers

Aww Rita – I feel bad! 🙁 That was just an April Fool’s Joke – read to the bottom of the post just after my sign-off! I won’t be leaving y’all any time soon – I’ll keep posting for as long as you guys keep reading! I love spending part of my day with you guys – even if only virtually! – too much to give it up! I do so much appreciate your kind words, Rita – they mean the world to me. And – sending you SO MANY CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss!! That is awesome – and it feels great, doesn’t it? Thank you, my friend!

  14. Lisa A Crosby

You are a stinker!! As I was reading your post I was sad and then I started thinking this must be and April Fool’s joke. It has to be. I would miss your projects and I would miss Finn!! So glad you are sticking around!! Have a great day!!

    • stampsnlingers

Glad that you figured it out, Lisa! And thank you very much for the kind words!! 🙂

  15. Marciene Ingram

Mary, my heart did a flip-flop reading the beginning of your post, but then I realized what the date was. I’m a demo from Minnesota and have loved your blog from the first time I saw it and read it every day. Love the pics of Finn too. You’re one of my favorite creative people and hope you never stop! Thanks for being you and sharing your creativity with us all.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you so very much, Marciene! That’s very sweet of you to say – and I think if I stop anything anytime soon it’ll be the OTHER job! 🙂

  16. Pat C.

Mary, my heart sank. Then, as I was reading your post I realized it was April 1st. and thought this must be a joke. I’m glad it was, you silly crazy lady! 😜
    BTW, beautiful card!

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – thanks Pat! Glad you figured it out quick! 🙂

  17. Pauline Silano

You got me! I was so bummed. – for only about a half minute, thankfully. You are my favorite blogger, by far. Love your cards, the instructions, the way you write, and, of course – Finn.

    • stampsnlingers

Oh – that’s very sweet, Pauline – and I’m happy the “bummed” didn’t have to last very long for you! Thank you so much! 🙂

  18. Mary Laffin

Yup–you are bad! Maybe you wouldn’t have gotten me if I had read this after coffee!
(But if you ever have to select between work and stamping–I highly recommend retirement!)

    • stampsnlingers

That’s for sure how I’d lean, Mary. Stamping is WAY more relaxing than work every thought of being! Thanks very much! 🙂

  19. OMG! Yes, you did fool me, I was so upset, but oh so relieved when I got to the bottom of the post! I also touched on the thought that I wouldn’t see Finn again – that was even more upsetting! Loved the card, but then I love all of your cards and so so glad I will get to see them again – and Finny!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – the Finny would have to figure out how to type! Or I’d have to do a no-card blog every couple of days just on him!! Thanks, Sue – glad I fooled you and then let you have a sigh of relief today! 🙂

  20. Kathy Beaver

My mother didn’t raise any gullible children! If you quit anything, it’ll be the job that keeps you away from home.

    • stampsnlingers

You got that SO right, Kathy!! 😉 Thanks!

  21. Faith Simpson

Oh you are a stinker!! You DID totally fool me…..I was groaning “ohhhhhhhh noooooooo” as I kept reading, and my first thought was: “no more pictures of Finn every day” and then “Buf yours is my FAVORITE blog……the first one I look for each day”. So I am very relieved it was just a joke…….I also thought: “Stampin Up could be your real job…..why not quit the OTHER one whatever it is……lol”.
ok….now I hope you feel appreciated!!

    • stampsnlingers

I very much do, Faith – thank you so much for all the so-kind words – especially given my pranking y’all! And – one of these days I WILL quit the other job and make SU! my whole job! 🙂

  22. Karen

    I’d miss Finn

    • stampsnlingers

I know – he’s definitely the star of the show! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  23. Karen A.

You had me at “I’msorry to tell you”.
Wow Mary you know how to shake up a perso .
    Whew….so glad you pranked me.
    Karen

    • stampsnlingers

I’m sort of amazed that it worked – being ON the 1st and all! But sorry if I scared you! Thanks, Karen! 🙂

  24. Mary-Ann Lynch

You cheeky minx. You had me fooled as it is 2nd April here in Australia. The first thought was, “how am I going to keep up with Mr Finn tales”. Sorry Mary – was worried about you too but………..

    • stampsnlingers

Hahaha!! I know where I stand, Mal – if Finn could type on his own….I’d be on the outs!! Glad you figured it out! 🙂

  25. Carrie Purkis

so thankful it was a joke!

  26. Kathy L

Mary, is there something wrong with my internet? It’s after 4pm PDT here and I dont see any comments! Did your announcement completely dumbfound everybody??? My mouth dropped open, but in the time it took to close it, I figured out what you were up to! Not nice to try to fool all of us! 😉😉 Especially when you made such a pretty card.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – no – there’s nothing wrong with your internet. It’s so darned cold here – and our “office” is outside in an unheated hangar. So…too darned cold to do a heck of a lot of computing. So…just getting to all the comments now! I’m glad you figured out right quick that it was an April Fool’s joke – I’d never quit y’all that suddenly!! Thanks, Kathy! 🙂

  27. This is so fresh and pretty! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Amy – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  28. Ellie Peckler

Mary (insert middle name) Deatherage! Have mercy! So glad this was just a prank. You are the most delightful and creative blogger I know and I plan to follow you for a long, long time. – Ellie

    • stampsnlingers

Ruh-roh! Used my FULL NAME! 😳😳😳 Must be in the doghouse! I’m glad it was a prank, too – can’t image not doing this fun job!! And spending part of each day “with” you guys! Thank you so much for the kind words, Ellie! 🙂

  29. jentimko

Oh, you are a little sneak today! Got lots of your loyal fans in an uproar! 😉 Love this pretty card, and that is no joke. So glad you joined us this week at FMS!

    • stampsnlingers

It ended up being a pretty good prank! Most everyone knows I won’t be bowing out of SU! any time soon, though – so…a lot of folks saw right thru me! 😉 Thanks very much, Jen – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  30. Kathy Fennell

Oh boy Lady your were #2 to get me today! My husband got me first thing this morning with the whats that on your pj top finger joke that I told him last night to make sure that he didn’t fall for in the wee hours of the morning at work. I’m “Wait! What?” she sure didn’t hint to this yesterday, what happened between then and now? Bad Mary to scare those of us that love you so much! Not to mention the Finnster, what would we do without the 2 of you! Aww….thank goodness for April Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your good……anyone tell you that lately? 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I should maybe play poker, huh?? My poker face is excellent – especially when WRITING my jokes! Glad I got you for just a second – and no – I’d never leave like that. There’d be plenty of warning! And THIS isn’t the job I’d quit, trust me! Thanks, Kathy! 🙂

  31. Karren Olaveson

Now, Mary, why would you go and do something like that!!! Bought that one hook, line, and sinker!!
I guess I bought it because I always wonder how you do what you do. Glad it was only a joke, as I thought my heart dropped down to my feet, and would never be the same again. Hope you are well and happy. and NO MORE JOKES, YOU HEAR!!! You are an amazing lady!! Take good care.
    Karren

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! Glad I fooled you for just a second – it’s not a good prank otherwise, right?? But no – if I ever have to give something up to stay sane it’ll be that OTHER job! Not this awesome one that lets me have so many wonderful friends around the country (and the world!!). Thank you very much, my friend! 🙂

  32. Kathy Fennell

Oh I forgot…..very pretty card as always Mary! Love your vision thanks for sharing it wit us! 🙂

  33. A very pretty card made by a very ornery person! Yes that means you! You didn’t fool me for one second, however, from the number of comments you received, it is obvious that you would be leaving a bunch of people in the Lurch if you quit. We have come to expect a lovely card everyday not to mention your wit and humor and the Finn fan club. Happy to count you among my friends, even if you are ornery.

    • stampsnlingers

LOL – ornery! I’m glad you weren’t fooled – but really? Not even for one teensy second?!? But no – of course I won’t leave y’all. Certainly not like that! Having too much fun with it! Thank you very much for the kind words, my friend! 🙂
