Stampin’ Up! Glistening Snowflake on Buffalo Plaid

Well – when you get this post in your inbox, I’ll be just putting the last of my stuff in the car and getting ready to head to town to the airport.  🙁

But – on a brighter note – I’m only about 12 hours from seeing the Man!  Can’t wait to hug his wiggle-self!

Remember I won’t be on FB tonight – I land way too late to be ready in time.  I’ll be back next week!

For today, I made some more plaid from the Buffalo Check background stamp and added the large snowflake from the Snowfall Thinlits and some sentiments from the Snow Is Glistening stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch challenge over at CAS(E) This Sketch.

And the color scheme is from the Color Throwdown this week!

I started with a panel of Crumb Cake and, with my Stamparatus, added the Buffalo Check background to the lower portion of the panel in Mossy Meadow ink.  I added the additional lines with my Craft ruler, the brush end of my Dark Soft Suede Stampin’ Blend Marker and a non-SU! White Gel Pen.  For a video on making plaid from the Buffalo Check stamp, check out my video here! 🙂

After the plaid was done, I embossed the panel in the new Subtle Dynamic TIEF and matted it on a piece of Whisper White card stock.

I wrapped Linen Thread around the panel a few times, securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.

I used the gorgeous – and BIG – die from the Snowfall Thinlits (coming on 1 Nov!) –  to cut a Sparkle Glimmer Paper snowflake, that I adhered over the Linen Thread with Liquid Glue.

I stamped a sentiment from the Snow Is Glistening stamp set (also coming 1 Nov with the Snowflake Showcase) in Mossy Meadow on a strip of Whisper White.  I snipped a banner end on the right side, edged it with my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I added a new Snowflake Trinket (yep – in the Snowflake Showcase) with a Glue Dot.

I added a Linen Thread double-loop Billie-bow and a simple Mossy Meadow Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine bow with more Glue Dots and the card front was done.

I stuck the three small snowflake stamps from Snow Is Glistening to a block and stamped the three images in Mossy Meadow all over the front and inside of a Mossy Meadow card base.

Then, for the inside, on a Whisper White panel, I added a second sentiment in Mossy Meadow and a snowflake in stamped-off-once Crumb Cake.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Whisper White mat and into the Mossy Meadow card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some Crumb Cake snowflakes – I stamped a couple of times without re-inking…

…and then I added some more to the envelope flap, this time in Mossy Meadow.

Et Voila!  Oh my goodness, how gorgeous is this huge Snowfall Thinlits snowflake?!?  If that was all that was in the Snowflake Showcase, it would be cause for much anticipation – but…the Snow Is Glistening stamp set brings beautiful images and sentiments to the party, too!  Hope you like!

And hope you WANT! 😉

Finn Fan Fix

Yesterday, we went to a cool little Antique shop in Pine Junction.  Lots of really cool goodies – so I was really proud of everything I did NOT buy! 😉

Afterwards, we drove out past Shawnee to the Shaggy Sheep Cafe!

If you’re ever in this neck of the woods, be sure to stop – the burgers with green chile are really yum.  The waitress asked how we wanted them cooked and our choices were “with pink” or “without pink”.  LOL!

We had a super lunch – although we never did see any “shaggy sheep” – and then headed back to town.

One final stop at the Bailey PO…

…where I met a sweet little red merle mini Aussie named Ada!

Then it was home to pack and prepare for the inevitable…

Home again soon!

  2. Love the plaid you created! Wonderful card and design. Your bows are the cat’s meow…is there a term for a dog’s bark? It just doesn’t sound right BUT what does sound right is that you’ll soon be hearing the bark you love. Safe travels, my friend.
