Stampin’ Up! Just a Note to Wish You Well

Good morning, y’all!  Hope your weekend is going swimmingly!

WE will not be swimming – cuz of how it’s colder than a well-digger’s lunch bucket here (that’s REALLY cold in case you’re unfamiliar with the analogy!).

So – I’ve come to the sad realization that I just don’t have enough internet speed/bandwidth here to do a FB Live – so…we’re going to have to skip that for today.  I’ll try to be back next week, though!

I made a simple little card using the Wishing You Well stamp set and some pumpkins from the Toil & Trouble DSP.  Take a look-see:

The design for this one hailed from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock that I embossed in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF.

Now – I learned something today.  My mom has a Big Shot so I didn’t bring mine – and I didn’t bring most of my platforms.  Something told me to stick the Magnetic Platform in, though.  Which is good – cuz the platform my mom has is AWOL.  So…I tried messing around with what I had.  With this Dynamic TIEF (these are a lot thicker, remember) I was able to emboss with a Magnetic Card from Stamp-N-Storage as a shim with the Magnetic Platform!  Score! 🙂

I added faux stitches with my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker, then I matted the panel on a Cajun Craze panel for the card front.

On another piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped the pretty grasses image from the Wishing You Well stamp set in Mango Melody – then I turned the stamp ever-so-slightly and stamped it again without re-inking.  I added the flowers with Cajun Craze and stamped the oh-so-totally-gorgeous ribbon/bow with Mossy Meadow.  Then I cut the image with the largest circle die in the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

I matted the circle on a Scalloped Circle of Cajun Craze and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I fussy cut three pumpkins from the Toil & Trouble DSP and adhered them with a combination of Liquid Glue and Dimensionals.

The Wishing You Well sentiment is stamped in Mossy Meadow on a strip of Very Vanilla.  I snipped banner ends, then edged it with my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I tied a Mossy Meadow bow from the Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine and stuck it on with a Glue  Dot.  Several gold Metallic Pearls on the flowers and on the sentiment finished off the card front.

On the inside, I added another Wishing You Well leaves image in Mango Melody on a Very Vanilla panel.  I added Cajun Craze flowers, a Mossy Meadow bow and Mossy Meadow faux stitches, too!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and then into my Mango Melody card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more flowers on the front…

…and I added some more of the Toil & Trouble DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I just love this Wishing You Well stamp set – I think it has to be one of my favorites in the Holiday Catalog.  Hope you like!

As requested – some pics from Colorado!

Saturday was gorgeous – supposed to start the snow at 2am on Sunday – so we did a little bit of errand running.  Then when we got home I noticed a few…nuthatches (I think?) on a pine tree outside the deck.

See him?

He and his buddies were flitting all around one particular pine tree with lots of pine cones.  They’d land on the pine cone (upside down!) and peck peck peck at the seed inside!

Not easy to see him – sorry!  But they were quite entertaining for a few minutes!

Here’s a few pics from around our house….the Aspen are busy being spectacular!

When I went on today’s walk – I’m TRYING to be good and keep closing those darned iWatch rings!! – I got a super view

The house is nestled in the woods – pretty quintessential cabin in the Colorado mountains!

So – Monday’s pictures will probably feature that cold white stuff!  Stay tuned!

  1. Oh, Mary, this is so CASEable! I just adore how you created this. Your faux stitching is marvelous. The use of the already-colored-for-you pumpkins for the sketch is perfect. LOVE it! Hopefully, I’ll see you at the meeting tonight.

Thanks so much, Karen! Planning to be on pending internet instability! 🙂

  2. Kate

Great card…and great adjustment for the missing part.
Ah…the spot I know and love. Enhanced no end by your dear presence. 😆

  3. What a pretty card Mary! Love the fall colors and design! Your photos from Colorado are beautiful…but glad that it’s you in the snow and not me. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yea. Wait till you see tomorrow’s pics… there’s white stuff everywhere! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  4. roz wolfe

Mary, this card is so awesome! If you want things to go even more swimmingly, come visit in FL–its still in the 80’s 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Bleh! I don’t love snow – but I don’t love the hot and humid of FL, either! I’ve got about a 10 degree comfort window these days! Thanks, Roz! 🙂

  5. Yep, Nuthatches! They are so darned cute and fun to watch. Gorgeous views. Your mom is fortunate to live there. Hope all goes well.
Oh, BTW, I love your card…a winner for sure.

Thanks, Julie! See? I learned something while we were at the retreat!! 🙂

  6. Susan K

Such a great card for the sketch. I love the pumpkins and your bouquet of flowers. Pretty pictures too. No color in our mountains yet!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Susan – the color will get to NC soon, I’m sure! 🙂

  7. Karen L.

Thanks for some pics from CO…..we lived at 8600 ft. elevation so we had mostly Pinion Pine trees & sage brush around out log cabin. We only had to drive about 4 miles up the road to get into the beautiful Aspen trees. They were so beautiful & we loved to picnic in the area & listen to the “quaking aspen”…..we so miss it!! We almost always had snow for Halloween…..put a damper on our “adult treat or treating” escapades!! Thanks again for the Colorado pics……hope to see more.
Oh, by the way……I do look at & love your card ideas…..just wanted you to know!
Have a great visit with your family & thanks again for pics from our beloved state of Colorado.
