Okay – now.  On to our card for today!

I decided to play with some of the goodies in the Tropical Chic suite (in the Annual Catalog!).  I especially love the colors – pinks and greens – of the Tropical Escape DSP.  Take a look-see:

I didn’t come up with this layout on my own, I borrowed it from the sketch challenge at The Paper Players.

And the inspiration photo from Hand Stamped Sentiments helped me pick my theme!

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock, that I embossed in the new Subtle Dynamic TIEF.  Then I adhered it with Liquid Glue to the front of my Shaded Spruce card base.

Next up is a piece of Tropical Escape DSP that I cut in strips and adhered to a Basic Black mat.  I cut a single panel of the DSP and then cut it into strips.  Each strip is adhered with Liquid Glue (giving me some time to wiggle them around and get them aligned/spaced just right).

I stamped the Tropical Chic sentiment in Shaded Spruce on a strip of Whisper White and snipped a banner into one end.  Then I edged it with my Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker.

I cut some leaves with the Tropical Thinlits from Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce.   I adhered a couple to the card front with Liquid Glue, then used a Glue Dot to adhere a few loops of Linen Thread – then popped the sentiment over all of that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered the rest of the leaves with Liquid Glue.  Then I added a Tropical Element button with a Glue Dot.  And, because….why not!?…I tied a Linen Thread Billie-bow and added it with a final Glue Dot.

I used my Dark Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend to color a few Pearl Basic Jewels and tucked them in amongst the leaves and Linen Thread – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I repeated the Subtle Dynamic TIEF on another Whisper White panel and adhered it inside the Shaded Spruce card base with Liquid Glue.  On another Whisper White panel, I stamped a leaf from Tropical Chic in stamped-off-once Granny Apple Green.  Over the top of that, I added a Tropical Chic sentiment in Shaded Spruce.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and then onto the embossed panel, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple of Tropical Chic leaves in Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce, and a flower in Petal Pink…

…and added a little more of the Tropical Escape DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green, Shaded Spruce and Black!  What a perfect color combination – which means the Tropical Escape DSP is just the best.  And – it’s a perfect accompaniment to the Tropical Chic stamp set and bundled Tropical Thinlits!  Hope you like! 🙂

Don’t miss out on all the Last-Call specials today, okay?!? 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

Have I ever told you guys that we have a lot of wheeled vehicles?  And tracked vehicles?  We’re a farm – so we’ve got too many trucks, too many skid-steers, too many…eveything (well – until I need Wayne to do something construction-y and then we have JUST the right number! LOL).

Anywho…Wayne is a Master-Parker.  By which I mean…he can, without expending any undo effort, park one of the aforementioned wheeled/tracked vehicles Right.  Smack.  In.  The.  Middle.  Of…fill-in-the-blank.  There is always and forever some vehicle of some sort IN MY WAY!

And, y’all – it’s not like there’s not plenty of space to park them that would NOT be IN MY WAY!  Really.  There’s room.

It’s just sort of his thing.

Finn appears to be “his father’s son”.

As if he had thumbs, a ruler, a protractor and a laser-level…he can (and does!) find the EXACT spot to lay Right. Smack.  In.  The.  Middle.  Of…fill-in-the-blank.  Basically IN MY WAY.

Case in point.

See the precise positioning?

Perfectly poised bewtixt the stove and the frig.  While I’m making dinner.

A chip off the ole block, he is.

I’m sure he thinks he’s helping… 😉

  1. Sweet card! Love the layered die cuts, pretty DSP background too! And Finn is helping…he’s making sure that you get those last few steps in each day by having to take the long way around from the fridge to the stove. 😉 And really, how else could he keep on top of his vacuuming duties if he’s not right there to see what falls?? 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

      True – he’s a totally autonomous Rumba…. and no re-charging required!! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Susan K

Cute card. I love those leaves on anything and the sketch and your take on it are tops!
Cute Finn. Just wanting to be close. Watching you to make sure you don’t leave again…and maybe that Rumba reason too.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – he’s a multi-tasker. He can keep an eye on me (and be sure that booger suitcase doesn’t come out!) and also ensure no morsel hits the floor unscathed…. 🙂 Thanks much, Susan! 🙂

  3. Kate

    Nice little tropical-feel card.
If something has to be in the way, probably better Finn than a tractor. Never liked those in the kitchen much…😆

    • stampsnlingers

      True – they’re especially problematic on a basement… 😉 Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  4. DELPHIA K. MCBRIDE

Love the card, but I love that embossing folder of course its out of stock😥 did you just use it on the whisper white? wonder how it would look on the DSP? AS FOR FINN: YOU GO BOY!! keep Mom safe and gather all the droppings for her. you know you wouldn’t have it any other way😉
    hugs
    Kay

It’ll be back, Kay! I’ll try to keep watch and let you know! And you’re right – I wouldn’t have it any other way!! Thanks! 🙂

  5. Love this! those leaves are awesome. Thanks for joining us at The Paper Players!

Thanks very much, Laurie! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  6. Paula Poindexter

    Lovely card Mary!
And Finn! He is exactly where he needs to be. Keeping and eye on YOU! Just savor the moments Mary and have a good weekend!

    • stampsnlingers

Savoring each one, Paula!! Thanks so much and you have a wonderful weekend, too! 🙂

  7. Lisa A Crosby

Too funny Finn! I watch my nephews every day for my sister and they have a 14 year old dog that is always laying right in front of wherever I need to be….fridge, sink, stove. I, on the other hand, do not own a dog. I do have 2 kitties and now a stray kitty that I have taken in. My 2 beautiful long haired kitties would prefer to be outside all the time. Stray kitty always wants to be in the house now and he follows me everywhere! Drives me nuts because I am afraid I am going to step on him. I literally cant do anything without him following me. Chris says he is just trying to show me how grateful he is to have a good home now. Glad you are home with your boys now. I am sure they both missed you!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh, Lisa – thank you for taking in a stray kitty. ALL kitties need a good home, and I’m so very glad that you provided one for him! I know your other two THINK they want to be outside, but…INSIDE is much much better! Give all of them a cuddle for me!! Thanks so much!! 🙂

      • Lisa A Crosby

Thank you Mary. I just found this message. I would take in ALL the stray kitties if I could afford to. They do get expensive though. I have now named stray kitty “Gus” and he is now neutered, vaccinated, and received a clean bill of health. The vet said he is about a year old. He is the sweetest thing. My male and female kitty do NOT like him but I am hoping that eventually that will change. Pets are the best! Have a great evening! Say hi to Finn.

      • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Lisa – and thank you for taking in the kitties. They ALL deserve a wonderful home! 🙂

  8. Love the colors on your card, the pink really pops and I love the collection of leaves. Great take on the challenge. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players this week.
