Happy Saturday, y’all! I hope your weekend is going well. If all goes as planned, this will go live about the time I’m boarding the airplane to head for the house! Finally! Can’t wait to get me some wiggle-butt!!
For all of you who didn’t click the “x” yesterday and read and commented on my weight loss post – thank you all so much! I was rather overwhelmed by the response – and I appreciate y’all more than you know!
As a result of all those nice comments – I went ahead and just copied the post and made it into a page you can go to – so you’ll always have ready access to the tips and the link to Lose It. Hope it will help!
My card today is a shimmery, non-traditionally-colored Christmas card using goodies that will be available on 5 Sept in the 2018 Holiday Catalog. I used the new Swirls & Curls TIEF, plus a little Beautiful Blizzard and Merry Christmas Thinlits. Take a look-see:
The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.
I started with a piece of Highland Heather card stock and embossed it in the new Swirls & Curls TIEF. Then I brushed it with some new Frost White Shimmer Paint. I matted it on a piece of Smoky Slate card stock that I’d ALSO brushed with the Frost White Shimmer Paint.
Check out how shimmery this card really is! 🙂
Wowza!
I tore a little piece of new Chicken Wire Elements off and adhered it to the card front – Silver side up – with Liquid Glue.
For the snowflakes, I first brushed a piece of Whisper White card stock with Frost White and Champagne Shimmer Paint (yea – got a bit of a theme going here!) – then I cut it with the new Blizzard Thinlit die.
I adhered the smaller snowflake to the card front with Liquid Glue.
The sentiment is cut once from Smoky Slate and once from Basic Black card stocks with the new Merry Christmas Thinlits. I brushed the Basic Black version with Frost White Shimmer Paint, adhered them in a stack (with the shimmery black one on top!) and adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I popped the last two snowflakes on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added a little bow from Silver & Pink Baker’s Twine and a few silver Metallic Shapes (which, I just now realized – are retired! 🙁 Sorry! You could use Clear Rhinestone Basic Jewels, too ) – and that was it for the card front!
On the inside, I inked up the swirl image from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set in Highland Heather, stamped it off once and then stamped a Whisper White panel. I did that a few times, then added the snowflake image in full-strength Highland Heather.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Smoky Slate mat (that I’d shimmer-ized with Frost White Shimmer Paint) and then into a Powder Pink card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Beautiful Blizzard images on the front…
…and I put more Beautiful Blizzard goodness on the back of the envelope, too!
Et Voila! This color scheme reminds my of my grandparents’ Christmas Tree when I was growing up – flocked white tree, pink and silver decorations! So – non-traditional, for sure, but…still pretty! Love the Swirls & Curls TIEF – especially all shimmer-ized! And the fun Blizzard Thinlit really creates a…well…BLIZZARD of snowflakes with just one cut! Hope you like!

So pretty Mary! The soft colors are perfect with the shimmer paint and perfect with your design! Yay for heading home today. Hopefully your bags are under the weight limit and your flight is smooth! 🙂
They were! That silly little suitcase scale thingy I bought is a miracle. I can’t believe I flew for so many years without it. Dumb! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
Cool!
Thanks, Mom! 🙂
Do you stay awake at night thinking of what beautiful card you will do next, or do you just dream them?? This is stunning. Love the shimmer and the pastels. Beautifully done!!
Sometimes I DO make cards in my head in the night. Which is both good and bad! LOL! Thanks so much, Julie! 🙂
Hey Mary, Loved your Blog on weight loss, and plan on getting going as soon as I return home. Great suggestions and will help so much. Thanks.
Glad you are on your way home! Bet Wayne is also.
We are in Ct. visiting family and will return to Fl. some time after Labor Day. May stop in Atlanta????
Will be looking for you tomorrow.
God bless.
Jean
Would love to have you stop by – and get to meet Wayne this time!! 🙂 Thank you so much, Jean – and safe travels! 🙂
A pretty color combination for a Christmas card, and I love all of the shimmer. Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
Thanks so much, Amy – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
Hope you had a safe trip home and are happily settling in! Looking forward to pics of the butt wiggles! (You weren’t specific there–I was assuming Finn’s but in case they are Wayne’s, maybe a video? 😉)
Although I normally like traditional Christmas colors, this really appeals to me. Might be all the shimmer! I had to go look for those and don’t know how I missed them since I love glitter and shimmer! Great take on the sketch and beautiful card.
Thanks so much, Susan – glad that you liked the card! And yes – I WAS referring to the pantaloon’d Wonder’s wiggle butt, not Wayne’s. Video?!? LOL, Susan – I’m shocked! 😉
😂🤣
Such lovely soft colors. I love that you carried the snowflakes to the inside and to the envelope. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
Thanks much, Kim – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
I’m thrilled Stampin’ Up brought back the shimmer paint and you used it amazingly! It’s perfect for the swirling snowy scene you’ve created!
Thanks so much, Jenny – I’d not used it before, so I wasn’t sure what the big fuss was when it was introduced on the ship. Now, though, NOW I know!! 🙂
