Stampin’ Up! Nature’s Animal Outing

Happy Monday, y’all!  That was tongue-in-cheek, just in case you didn’t catch it!

It was an interesting weekend for me here in CA.  So – I’m sort of happy it’s behind me and hoping the hives are, too!

If you joined me last night for my Facebook video – thanks so much!  I know it wasn’t all that intriguing – so I appreciate your patience!  If you didn’t – well, you really didn’t miss much.  Didn’t make a card – we just sort of chatted, made sure the internet was going to be adequate for future videos – and I gave a quick little tour of the stamping area I’ve set up in the hotel room.  Here’s the link if you want to check it out!

The card I’d planned to make on the video – but then didn’t because all my stuff hasn’t arrived yet –  uses the new and super-cute Animal Outing stamp set.  Along with some of the pretty Nature’s Poem DSP.  Take a look-see:

As I mentioned in yesterday’s sneak peek, the layout is from the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge:

I started with some leafy paper from the new Nature’s Poem DSP and matted it on Cajun Craze for the card front, using Liquid Glue.  The next strip is also Nature’s Poem – just a different design – matted on Cajun Craze and then adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used some Liquid Glue to add a strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon over the paper, then I wrapped some Mint Macaron Nature’s Twine around the card front, securing it in the back with some scotch tape.

I stamped the adorable rhino from the new Animal Outing set in Gray Granite on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I used my Blender Pens to add some Gray Granite shading to him.

For the leaves, I inked the image in Soft Suede and Mint Macron with my Stampin’ Write Markers.  I stamped it four times around the rhino – using a sticky note on the stamp itself to mask the portion I didn’t want.  Then I lightly colored the leaves in even more with the Mint Macaron Marker.

His little friend perched on his nose is colored in Blueberry Bushel, Pineapple Punch and Grapefruit Grove.

He must be a  Panamanian Fruit Bird.  I’m sure that’s a thing! 😉

I cut the image with a Sticthed Shapes Framelits oval and matted it on a Cajun Craze Scalloped Oval cut with the Ovals Layering Framelits.  Then It’s popped over the ribbon with Dimensionals.

I stamped the Animal Outing sentiment in Granite Gray on Whisper White and cut it with my 1 1/4″ Circle Punch.  Then I aded some faux Mint Macaron stitches with my Marker.  I punched a 1 3/8″ Scalloped Circle in Cajun Craze for the mat and adhered it with some Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional.  The finishing touch is a small Mint Macaron Nature’s Twine bow – stuck on with a Glue Dot!

On the inside, I stamped more of the Animal Outing branches across the bottom of a Whisper White panel, again using the Soft Suede and Mint Macaron markers…

I adhered the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and then into the Mint Macaron card base with Liquid Glue – popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more branches on the front…

…and, as I know you’ll have guessed by now, more Nature’s Poem DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How cute is this Animal Outing set?!  I wasn’t sure about it – it’s one we got for free at OnStage – but…I really love it now that I’ve had a chance to play with it!  Too many cute images and coordinating sentiments! Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

No FFF’s for a minute, guys.  Cuz of how – he’s there and I’m here! 🙁

He’ll be back, though!  Despair not – absence makes the heart grow fonder! 🙂

Did get another trip to the ER for another shot. Hoping that tomorrow isn’t a repeat. Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Ha Ha! Panamanian Fruit Bird indeed! There are birds in Panama that eat fruit, but……!
Love your card! Such a cute set. It is on my wish list.
Hope hives are all gone, or at least going. Missed your video as I was in a campground and no internet, no phone. No one had a clue where I was! Thankful for restaurant for both breakfast and internet.

    • stampsnlingers

We DO like out internet! I’m pretty sure the Panamanian Fruit Bird is a thing… 😉 Thanks, Julie – hope you’re enjoying your travels! 🙂

  4. Aw – this is wonderful! I like this rhino so much – and I love how you’ve colored the bird so boldly – a bright pop of color! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps, Mary!

  5. Love it!

  6. Debra Anderson

Sure hope you find out what caused the hives. Until then, hope the Benadryl does the trick!

    • stampsnlingers

Me, too, Debra. Me, too. This is crazy! 🙁 Thanks much! 🙂

  7. Kate

Can’t tell whether the Finn is snapping at a fly, scoping out a bird, or howling like a hound – which seems a bit unlikely…not being one and all.

    • stampsnlingers

Definitely snapping at a flying thing! 🙂

  8. karren Olaveson

I just wanted you to know that I received the share you sent to me. Thank you. I feel bad about the hive situation you are suffering. That is just so miserable!! I can’t stand the thought of you traveling alone. To top that off, you have to leave little Finnie behind. Do take the best of care and thank you again.
    Best wishes,
    Karren

    • stampsnlingers

So glad that it arrived, Karren – have fun with all the pretties!! And thank you for the kind words – I won’t lie, I’d much rather be dealing with hives at home. That said – I have good friends here, who I’ve traveled and tested with now for years – and they’d all do whatever I needed to help me out. Very much like family! So – worry not – I’m not really alone! Take good care, my sweet friend! 🙂
