Stampin’ Up! Large Letters Pressed Flowers for the Stamp Ink Paper #151

Good morning, y’all!  Tuesday again, which means it’s time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge to help get your creative mojo flowing!

I pulled out a couple of die sets – one, the Large Letters Framelits, is staying with us and the other, the Large Numbers Framelits, is retiring in less than 2 weeks!  Yep – it’ll be gone, so…if you want it – you know what you need to do!  I combined them with the new Pressed Flowers Host Exclusive set and made an Eclipse card.  Take a look-see:

So – can you guess the SIP #151 Challenge?  Yep – show us projects made with Letters or Numbers!

I also took some inspiration from The Paper Players Clean & Simple Challenge.

I started with a simple piece of Thick Whisper White card stock.  With a couple of pretty images from the Pressed Flowers stamp set, I stamped sort of randomly across the panel.  For each image, I used the Marker-To-Rubber inking technique (this is why you really WANT all the colors of Stampin’ Write Markers!).  I used Flirty Flamingo and Pineapple Punch markers for each flower and the Shaded Spruce Marker for the stems.  Before I stamped each image – I “huffed” on the stamp to moisten the ink!

When I had as many flowers as I wanted, I used dies from the Large Letters Framelits and the Large Numbers Framelits to cut my sentiment – making sure to keep the little cut-outs from the “B”!  I used the same dies again and cut three more of each letter/number in Flirty Flamingo.

With Liquid Glue, I adhered the letters up in a stack.

I adhered the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat with Liquid Glue – being sure to get all around each letter to that everything stuck down.  Then I used the Glue to adhere each of the letter/number stacks.  Finally, I added the “B” cutouts.

The finishing touch was some Share What You Love Artisan Pearls in So Saffron and Petal Pink in the middle of each of the flowers.

On the inside, I didn’t use a sentiment.  I inked up the Pressed Flowers image again, and stamped it off twice, then stamped the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Tip: I inked the stems in Shaded Spruce and stamped them off twice.  THEN I inked the flowers in Flirty Flamingo and Pineapple Punch – and stamped the whole image off again (twice).  That made the stems be light enough!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into my So Saffron card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added three more of the single-stem Pressed Flowers…

…and I used the second image on the back, straddling the edge of the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the femininity of these beautiful flowers in the Pressed Flowers set!  And I think the Large Letters/Numbers die cut sentiment is fun – especially if the card were to head to a teenage girl (or a young-at-heart-and-totally-tech-savvy woman!).  You know – someone who LOL’s and NP’s and TYs’….  They’ll for sure know what HB2U is!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I try to go for a walk with the Man each afternoon – partly cuz he likes to go.  Mostly cuz my watch is a pushy thing and makes me.  Oh – and I want my hind-quarters to diminish, not re-spread!

So…off we go.  Usually to the mailbox and back – which is about 2/3 of a mile roundtrip, with a mild hill to exercise said hind-quarters.

Finn sort of ranges along side me – in something of a loose-trail position.

Unless he’s in a bit of a hurry…

So I get a view of his pantaloonies.

You know you have a well-balanced dog when he’s as cute from the rear as the front!

Sometimes, he’s interested enough in my well-being to stop and check up on me.

Or…maybe he’s just telling me to hurry-it-up-already, Mom!

Open to interpretation, I suppose!

  1. What a pretty card Mary! Your flowers are just perfect, love the coloring. 🙂 And Finn has lots of things to do and see and sniff…so hurry up already!! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I know. I’m really slow. But hey – I’ve got HALF the legs he does! 😉 Thanks much, Amy! 🙂

  2. Great card and I am so sad that the numbers are going I use them so much. Love your Finn story today, they sure know how to tell you to hurry up, but then on the other hand they can go off in a tangent to investigate what ever they thought they saw.!!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh they sure can do that! Thanks so much, Rosalie! 🙂

  3. Beki Rich

Another episode for your book {chuckle}, Finn and Wilbur go to the mailbox, check out things on the way, and Finn carries the mail back in the bag that the mailman dangles from the mailbox for him to get. Ooops. when do you get your exercise? Maybe you trail behind or go later to put the bag back. The card – I like the way you used the letters as vases.

    • stampsnlingers

I need an illustrator. Someone who can turn my photos into hand-drawn sketches. My brain sees that as better for a book than photos! And yes. I’ve certainly considered that the arrival of Wilbur could really add to the potential books in a long series!! 🙂 Thanks so much, Beki! 🙂

  4. Great card. Especially the color combo. Good tip that this is recommended for tech savvy folks. The stamping though is for anyone. I think the flowers would be ok for guys if they were blue.

    • stampsnlingers

I think you’re right, Sharon! Thanks so much! 🙂

  5. Elisha Smith

Such a sweet card! Love the color combo👍 I’m a little surprised that they’re retiring the numbers – I will be keeping mine😊 Love the over-the-shoulder shot of Finn – he’s so handsome!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – along with the matching stamp set – both gone! 🙁 Thanks so much. And yes – he really is movie-star handsome, is he not?!? 😉

  6. Kate

    Interesting card…
Comin’ and goin’, he’s a fine fellow!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – he sure is! 🙂 Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  7. My granddaughter is an artist. Want me to ask her if she’d be interested in illustrating a book? She could send you a sample of her work I would imagine. She would love Finn too….and you…AND Wilbur…the whole Deatherage clan undoubtedly. What a great idea came from your incredible brain for this card. Love it! CASEing 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Sure! What the heck – maybe my final career will be as a kid’s book writer and SU! Demonstrator! Me and Finny will be so famous!! Do you think the book tours will let Wilbur come, too?!? Glad you liked the card, Karen – CASE away! 🙂

  8. Great card for a tech savvy teen, maybe. some of the photo editing software will let you turn it into a drawing, so you won’t need an illustrator. I can see you as a successful author.

    • stampsnlingers

I suspect there are plenty of those – but, since I’m NOT one of the tech savvy peeps…maybe… Thank you for that vote of confidence, Julie! 🙂

  9. What a fun card…I love the pretty blooms! Thanks for playing along at The Paper Players, so happy you joined our BLOOM challenge!!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Laurie – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  10. Nance Leedy

Such a cool technique and I love the shorthand version of happy birthday! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Nance! And thanks for taking time to come by! 🙂

  11. Mary… what a smart idea with your alphabet! I always love an inlaid sentiment…and your blooms are beautiful! Thank you for joining us at The Paper Players this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Liz! I love eclipse cards! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
