Stampin’ Up! Wonderful Rooted in Nature Sneak Peek!

Happy weekend, y’all!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned, like…going to see the new Avengers movie, maybe?!  I hope I get to see it soon!! 🙂

My card today uses one of my favorite new bundles in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog (anyone tracking how many times I’ve already said that??) – called Rooted in Nature.  That stamp set, bundled with the Nature’s Roots Framelits, worked perfectly over a piece of Share What You Love DSP!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with a piece of the Share What You Love Specialty DSP (y’all can get this starting next week on 1 May in the Early Release!) and I matted it on Crumb Cake with Liquid Glue.

The center panel is Crumb Cake, embossed in the Petal Burst TIEF.

I made the little border with some strips from the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper – I adhered it on the top and bottom of the embossed panel with Tear & Tape Adhesive.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the card front.  More Tear & Tape helped me add the 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon around the whole thing.

The grove of Rooted in Nature trees is made using the marker-to-rubber coloring technique. I colored the needles with my Old Olive Stampin’ Write Marker and used Soft Suede for the trunks.  I stamped five of them on Very Vanilla and cut them with their matching die from the Nature’s Roots Framelits.

I stamped the sentiment from Rooted in Nature in Soft Suede on Vellum card stock and cut it with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelits die.

I spent a little time dry-fitting the trees and sentiment onto the card front – then I adhered the layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Glue Dots (trees) and used just Glue Dots under the stamped sentiment for the Vellum oval.   And that was it for the card front!  How cool is it to be able to just cut these pretty trees with a quick and easy die?!? 🙂

On the inside, I added a couple more trees to the side of a Very Vanilla panel and called it good! 🙂

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and then into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Rooted in Nature trees on the front…

…and then I added more of the Share What You Love DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Are you in love with this wonderful Rooted in Nature stamp set and the oh-so-handy and wondrous Nature’s Roots Framelits?  I know I am – and I love how it all works so well with the Share What You Love Specialty DSP!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Thought you’d enjoy a couple more pics of Franken-Dog in his “I’m baaaack” mode!  In other words – Finny being Finny!!

“Slurp…num…num…slopper….mmm…dirty dishes!  My favorite!”

“YOU get a peek-a-boo and YOU get a peek-a-boo and YOU….”

And – then I figured you might like to see a recent new resident.

Meet….Wilbur.  Still trying to see if that name fits him.

Wilbur might look like a black bear cub.  But he is, in fact, of the swine-persuasion. Proof…

He showed up on the driveway and then in the pasture the other day.  We thought he was wild.  But…he’s awfully tame for a wild pig.  We’re starting to wonder if someone dumped him on the road.  Cuz…people do that.  Cuz…people frequently suck! “They told us he was a pot-belly pig and would only weigh 35 pounds!” 🙁

So – not sure what the future holds for us with Wilbur.  Will he gain the fame and notoriety of Duck-Duck?

Only time will tell!

What a gorgeous combination of products! I love it! I played with the smaller images in that bundle, but not the trees – they are beautiful! It’s good to see Finn up to his old tricks – hope today goes well at the v_t😕 Wilbur is too cute! What does Finn think of him?

    • stampsnlingers

This is like Lovely As A Tree – on steroids! It’s awesome – so have fun with the larger tree images! I’m not sure Finn has really “seen” him yet. Guess we’ll see soon… 😉 Thanks, Elisha! 🙂

  2. Barbara Riefner

Oh, I hate to see an animal that is not used to foraging for food having to do this. What a shame. I hope someone owns Wilbur and is taking care of him. How sad. You’re right, some people do suck when it comes to their animals!!!

    • stampsnlingers

I think he’s doing okay – I really can’t tell what his deal really is. So – we’re just playing it by ear. I’ve named him, so…that’s Step 1 in becoming a permanent addition here… 🙂 Thanks, Barbara! 🙂

  3. Kate

    Nice card…
The Finn can check out my dishwasher any time!!! It is wonderful to see him doin’ his thang again. PTL!
Poor ole pig. Do pigs forage? Or? 🙁

    • stampsnlingers

Pigs are omnivores – so, if he WAS dumped, he’s doing okay. He’s rooting up around the barn – which is really not his most endearing quality. THAT would be the little ear flipping and tail wagging. It would help if her weren’t so cute right now – makes it hard to know whether he’s one of the wild ones or a dump-ee or an escapee! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  4. Such a beautiful card Mary! Your colors, layers and design are all perfect! Awesome that you’ve got another critter for Finn to herd…just what you needed. 😉 Glad that he’s back to his normal self. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – can’t even have too many critters that need taking care of, right?? 🙁 Thank you so much, Amy! 🙂

  5. Robbie Miller

First of all, I’m so happy Finn is back to his ornery loveable self ! You must be very very relieved and thankful !
    Secondly … gorgeous card !!

    • stampsnlingers

Yes, ma’am! I most surely am more relieved than I can even tell you! Thanks! And thank you on the card, too! 🙂

  6. Pat

Mary, I’m so glad that Finn is being his silly self. That is so nice of him to clean the dishes before you run the dishwasher. You must have the cleanest dishes! 🤪
Yeah, it seems like people think the best place to dump their no longer wanted pets is the country. So sad. My next door neighbors have a little pet pig, Bella loves him! So do I. 😍

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Pat – he IS a helper/giver, for sure! I don’t know if that’s what’s happened with Wilbur or if it’s our way of justifying not running him off. He’s pretty darned cute right now… 😉

  7. So glad Finn is getting back to his old self.

    • stampsnlingers

Boy – me, too, Gerri! Thank you so much! 🙂

  8. Pretty papers and card, such a lovely fresh design. Thank you for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks so much, Tracey – appreciate you stopping by! 🙂

  9. This set is on my list and I doubt anyone is tracking your “favorite bundle”…I did do a search though…lol. I also did a search on Duck Duck cuz I didn’t know what you were talking about. Your posts about the goose cracked me up as you tend to do with me. I love pigs so I will be following the adventures of Wilbur, along with the continued recovery of Finn. Has he done the thing that would make you know Finn was totally back?

    • stampsnlingers

Glad you got caught up on the doings of Duck-Duck! I kind of miss her! 🙁 Not sure what adventures will follow with Wilbur… Yep – Finn’s done the last thing I needed to see – sprawled himself upside down in his kennel to sleep!! Whoo-hpp!! Thanks, Karen – see you tonight! 🙂

  10. karren Olaveson

Hi Mary, Such a relief to see little Finn is better. That was a terrible scare!!! Cute ;little pig running around your property. He knows what he is doing, coming to your house!!! Hope he will be ok. I guess time will tell. Someone dumped a peacock off at our place the other day!! Some people don’t have a lick of good sense!! Then, the next time I look, it will be a cat!! Hugs for you, Mary. Your cards are beautiful. Have a good weekend.
    Best wishes,
    Karren

    • stampsnlingers

A peacock!?! Now that’s an odd thing, for sure. Who the heck gets a peacock and then changes their mind? Sheesh. Thank you so very much for your love and continued good wishes, Karren! 🙂

  11. Kathy Fennell

Wow Mary, what a beautiful card! Love it! Can’t wait for the new catalog, I do believe this will be another stamp set added to the “I want list”. Awe Finn 🙂 feeling a lot better I see! Thank goodness for God, love and prayers! Hope Vet visit goes well. Have a good weekend 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – those three things have gotten him to the otherside of a bad bad thing! And I’m so grateful to everyone! Thanks so much, Kathy! 🙂

  12. Fabulous card using a gorgeous tree image! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks very much, Karren – I love this new bundle! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
