Stampin’ Up! Nature Sings With Sheet Music

Good morning, my peeps!  It’s Friday again!  Tomorrow Finn-y gets his staples out!  Can you believe it?  And he’s coming back to us! 🙂

Now – today I’ve made a card using all current product – meaning you have (or could get!) everything you need to make this one!  And – in case you’re one of those uber-organized folk, it’s a Christmas Card!  Make this vintage-inspired card and you’re one-on-the-way to being ready to mail out your cards this Christmas!  So – gather up the Nature Sings and Sheet Music stamp sets, the Pretty Pines Thinlits and some Be Merry DSP and make…this.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by this month’s Viva La Verve sketch.

And the Christmas theme was thanks to the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.

I started with a piece of Be Merry DSP in Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White – which I antiqued with a Stampin’ Sponge and Crumb Cake ink!  Then I adhered it to a Cherry Cobbler mat with Liquid Glue.

The next layer is a square of Crumb Cake, stamped with the Sheet Music background stamp – in Crumb Cake.  I used the new Detailed Trio Punch (okay – you can’t get this until 1 June – but you COULD use the corner rounder on the Envelope Punch Board!) to round all four corners of this panel and its Cherry Cobbler mat.

I adhered the panels together and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Next, I used a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere a length of 5/8 Burlap Ribbon, wrapping it around to the back. Over that is a piece of 1/4″ Copper Trim – secured in the back with a little strip of Tear & Tape.

I punched a Vellum Card Stock circle with the 2 1/4″ Circle Punch, then added the Nature Sings sentiment in Early Espresso all over it.  It’s adhered with a few Glue Dots – be sure to put them down where they’re hidden by the sentiment.

I pulled out one of my favorite die sets – the Pretty Pines Thinlits – and cut several pine boughs from Always Artichoke (sadly retiring – but Mossy Meadow is coming back, so…whoo-hoo!) and a couple of berry branches from Copper Foil.  I also pulled a few lengths of twine out of a piece of Burlap Ribbon.

I adhered the pine boughs and berries with Liquid Glue, and used a couple of Glue Dots for the twine (arranging it ever-so-artistically!).

For the sentiment, I stamped a few of the trees from Nature Sings in Always Artichoke – I stamped the image twice without re-inking –  on a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I added an Early Espresso sentiment.  Then I cut it with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  I sponged the edges lightly with Crumb Cake, popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Nature Sings in Early Espresso to a Whisper White panel.  Over the top, I added the pine bough (from Nature Sings) in stamped-off-once Always Artichoke. I also added more of the tree image across the bottom – stamping the image twice without re-inking.  Then I sponged the whole thing with Crumb Cake.

I adhered the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Nature Sings trees in Always Artichoke across the front…

… and I added some more of the Be Merry DSP onto the envelope flap – after sponging it with Crumb Cake first!

Et Voila!  Will the Nature Sing and the Sheet Music background stamp sets help you make your first Christmas Card of 2018?  I sure hope so – and don’t forget the Pretty Pines Thinlits to add that woodsy collage touch!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

I’ve had some folks ask how Finn’s surgical site is doing.

Well – it looks itchy to me, but…he doesn’t seem to worry overmuch about it.  And it’s healing perfectly.

Brace yourself – if you’re squeamish…when I woke up to find staples in my leg, that sorta put me off (read: freaked me out!) – so… ready?

Not so bad, huh?  Way better than the “before” pics – which I’ll spare you! 🙂

And – he’s just chillin’ with it!

He’s SO much better, y’all!  It’s pretty much a miracle! 🙂

  1. Oh, yes, you make me wanna get my Christmas cards going! Love all the elements of your card. Finn was very fortunate that the kick didn’t go to the left or right and down a bit…quite a miracle that way and healing wise. He must have had quite the headache. He’s lookin’ good. Thanks for posting pic. Only Mom and Dad can appreciate the before pic to know how far he’s come. Have a great weekend.

    • stampsnlingers

  4. that is such a contented looking Finn in that pic, no doubt he will be a bit taken aback when they are taken out, not a nice experience for man, women or doggie.

    • stampsnlingers

Yea – I didn’t love getting mine out – but…I had about 50. I’m hoping it won’t be too awful for him! Thanks much, Rosalie! 🙂

  5. Barbara Riefner

So happy to hear he is doing well and healing. That surgical site looks nasty, so it it good to hear that it is not bothering him. Keep us posted on his progress. He is such a sweet boy and I enjoy keeping up with his antics.

    • stampsnlingers

It does look nasty but it’s healing very well! Will be happy to get the staples out, though! Thank you very much for the kind words, Barbara! 🙂

  6. I love the card, you are such a great inspiration, thank you! I’m so happy Finn is doing so well, I bet you’re breathing a few signs of relief huh! Enjoy your weekend!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep – I can’t even get too annoyed with him when he does things that are really annoying! I’m just to happy that he feels good enough to BE annoying! 🙂 Thanks so much the kind words, Sue! 🙂

  7. Pat

Whew. I’m so glad that Finn is recovering so nicely. Not rubbing his surgical site? What a good boy!
Give him lots of hugs for me! 😍
Your card is so vintage, love it! I usually start thinking of Christmas cards in August, then start making them around 15th of Dec.! Yeah, I’m one of those people. 😜

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! That sounds like me, too!! Yea – I am pretty amazed that he’s not scratching it – it makes me itch just looking at it! I do believe it’s pretty much a miracle that he’s recovered so nicely! Thanks much, Pat! 🙂

  8. Kate

Christmas. Still have letters from last year to answer. 🙁 Great card to get us movin’.
Ah, Finn…he is a miracle. Thanks be to God! And for all the prayers and for the good care he has had.

    • stampsnlingers

I feel pretty certain it IS a miracle that he’s even with us – let alone “back”! Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  9. Ellie Peckler

Mary, I love today’s card. What a great idea. And I enjoy using the Pretty Pines thinlits, too. What a brave fur baby you have. I’m delighted that he is healing so well! – Ellie

    • stampsnlingers

He IS brave and TOUGH!! He’s healing better than I even could have hoped for! Thank you so much, Ellie – have a wonderful weekend! 🙂

  10. Eunice Stoneman

I love this card. I just might case it, closer to Christmas though, lol. I’m still working on the bajillion birthday cards I need each year. I have also needed to make a lot of sympathy cards already this year and will be needing more, sad to say. I am so glad that Finn is recovering so nicely. His surgical site looks nice and clean, and once the crusty blood can be washed off it should ‘practically disappear’. You mentioned finding staples in your leg. If they punctured your skin be sure you clean it well with bactine or rubbing alcohol and put some polytopic or antibacterial ointment on it. You don’t want to get an infection from them!! I’d probably use something to clean my leg even if it wasn’t open. Better safe than sorry, you know.

    • stampsnlingers

Hey Eunice – thank you so much! I’m sorry that you’re in need of sympathy cards….sometimes it feels like we send way too many of those! We’ll see how Finn’s fur grows back soon! Thanks for the advice on my leg – the staples I had were surgical staples put in the during the surgery to repair my broken leg! 🙂

      • Eunice Stoneman

Oh, lol. I thought you meant that Finn had lost some staples and you found them in your leg. I guess you don’t need to worry about the antibacterial ointment then.

      • stampsnlingers

No – but I’ve always got some in the drawer in the bathroom! If it’s not staples…it’s something else!! I do appreciate you worrying about me, Eunice! 🙂

  11. Kathy Fennell

Such a pretty card Mary and I love the vintage look. Wish I had the creativity and imagination that you have, I think mine got left behind when my Mom gave birth to me. She could do anything from graphic arts to quilting and everything and anything in between. She was an amazing women! 🙂 Finn really is looking good, so happy to see and hear that he is doing well. I do believe that that little angle was working overtime making sure that Finn would make a full recovery. Enjoy your weekend Mary 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

I think it was a whole Host of Angels, Kathy! Angels and all the prayers coming in from all over…the world!! And I’m so grateful! You might be surprised at the creativity you have inside, Kathy! I also do a lot of Pinterest looking and I see a little something here and a little something there…and then my brain says…oh. Put those together! Trust me – I’m a right-brain engineer/pilot. It AMAZES me when I create something that people like!! Thank you very much, indeed, for the nice words! 🙂

  12. Barb

So happy to hear that Finn continues to feel and act better! Love your card, too!!
