Stampin’ Up! True Gentleman in Plaid

Good Monday, y’all!  It’s the Monday after OnStage – and…wow!  What a weekend it was!  Lots of surprises and fun give-aways!  Saw lots of demonstrator friends-from-afar!  Totally wonderful – and…whew!  I’m tired!  And already excited for Orlando in November!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I sure do appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me! If not, but you’d like to take a look, here’s the YouTube link.

One of the nicest Suites in the Occasions catalog is the Truly Tailored suite of products  – they’re just perfect for making masculine cards!  Which is exactly what I did with this card today.  I used the Truly Tailored stamp set for the sentiments and the handsome plaid in the True Gentleman DSP.  Take a look-see:

This simple layout was inspired by the sketch from this week’s MFT Wednesday Sketch challenge:

I started with the Night of Navy DSP from the True Gentleman DSP.  I cut a second piece of the DSP to similar card front dimensions, then did a little measuring and trimmed the plaid paper on the angle you see.  With Liquid Glue, I adhered it over the first panel, then I matted it all on Crushed Curry with Fast Fuse.

I used a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on my craft silicone sheet to adhere a length of the Night of Navy 3/8″ Corduroy Ribbon around the diagonal seam, wrapping it around to the back of the card front.

I stamped the sentiment from the Truly Tailored stamp set in Tranquil Tide on Very Vanilla and fussy cut it (I wanted a no-border image).  I made a mat by punching a piece of Crushed Curry card stock with the Tailored Tag punch.  The sentiment is popped over the mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added Dimensionals to the back of the matted sentiment and used them to wind some Linen Thread in loops, then popped the whole thing onto the card front.

I used a Glue Dot to add a True Gentleman Button to the card front and added a triple-length Linen Thread bow to the button with another Glue Dot – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second Truly Tailored sentiment in Tranquil Tide to a Very Vanilla panel.  Under it, I added a Night of Navy bow.  Then I added a Crushed Curry-matted strip of the plaid True Gentleman DSP across the bottom.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Tranquil Tide card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a sweet string of Truly Tailored Night of Navy bows across the front…

…and added more of the True Gentleman DSP to the envelope flap (gotta love that plaid!)!

Et Voila!  Truly Tailored really is the perfect suite for making all the masculine-themed cards that you need!  The True Gentleman DSP is absolutely gorgeous – and works beautifully, don’t you think?  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn was pretty happy to see me yesterday – almost squiggled himself in two! 🙂

Once we got the hellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohellohello’s done…he laid down on the floor to keep a sharp eye on me…

I’m watching you, Mom!  You won’t get away without me again! 🙂

I spied a little package on the counter and knew it was a gift from my mom for our anniversary last week, so I opened it up!

This is what I discovered!

Didja read the laws?

Well – they’re incredibly accurate – please refer to Law #9…

  1. Love your card! The colors are perfect and so is the design. Great video last night too! Yes, those rules sound about right… 😉

Thanks, Amy! I’m guessing the rule-writer has an Aussie… 😉

  2. What kind of friend am I? I didn’t send you an anniversary card and you remember ours! How many years? Belated, cardless, happy anniversary! What your Mom sent is priceless. You talk about tired…at least you stayed awake to demonstrate. I have to go back to watch. You lost me at the inside. Your voice is so soothing and calm for me. Yesterday wasn’t a good day so thank you for a wonderful card and some much needed shut eye!

Well, thank you so much, Karen! I didn’t advertise it, so…how could you have known?!? 🙂 I am very very sorry that yesterday was a bad day for you guys. 🙁

  3. Great card. Guess we will soon know if the whole suite is carried over! Love that plaid! Sorry I missed the video last night. I simply forgot it.
I think those Aussie property rules apply to most any breed. Belated Happy Anniversary!

    • stampsnlingers

Yep! I bet a lot of puppy owners have similar rules from their guys, too! Thanks, Julie! 🙂

  4. Susan K

I love that paper but haven’t been wild about the stamp set but i may have to rethink that. Your card makes me want it, esp if the punch will have new designs to go with it. Belated Happy Anniversary wishes. Ours is this week! Your mom must know her granddog well. Fun gift!

    • stampsnlingers

There is a new set in the Annual Catty that uses this awesome punch!! Snap it up! 🙂 Thanks much, Susan – and happy Anniversary to you, too! 🙂

  5. Kate

I guess we can see that Finn abides by the rules!!! 😉
Glad y’all had such a good time.
    The plaid always gets me…

    • stampsnlingers

      He’s a rule-follower, for sure! Not… Thanks, Mom! 🙂

  6. Kathy L

I wasn’t able to be with you either last night, and just finished watching the video. Such a perfect card for a guy, especially as I know you agree that this has to be the very best masculine dsp ever! Maybe I should go ahead and get that bundle here on the last day. I do have the dsp. Thanks to your mom for that funny but true list of dog rules. I’ve known a few dogs in my day who think the same way!

    • stampsnlingers

And – just got your order, Kathy! Thanks! Yep – best masculine DSP ever!! 🙂

  7. Karen in Florida

Beautiful card! I love this DSP!
Most of Finn’s rules could apply to toddler children too. 🙂

  8. OMGosh hahaha at Finn… and the rules are so true!! Love the card. I always have a hard time with masculine.. You did very well with that card. Very nice.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Tam – I was pleased with it. The paper really does all the heavy lifting! And yes – the rules are very very accurate! 🙂
