Stampin’ Up! Blends, Basket Weaves and Lovely Wishes

Happy happy Hawwmp day, y’all!  Mid-week on our way to another Continuing Resolution and/or government shutdown.  Whattheheckaretheydoing?!?  Sheesh.  I think THEIR pay needs to stop if they don’t get it together.

So.  There.  My rant for the day.

Before I get going on the card for today, please be sure you make note of the impending Fast Fuse sale – it starts tomorrow and is a Buy-a-Fast-Fuse and get two refills free SALE!  And it’s only while supplies last – so…be ready to hop to in the morning!

Now.  For my card.  I used a technique that I saw in a Stampin’ Up! video (you can see it right here) to make a pretty background.  The Lovely Wishes stamp set lent it’s pretty flowers for the embossing.  And – if you look close…you’ll see a tiny sneak peek of the new Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF (which will be available to customers on 16 Feb!).  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:

I started with a panel of Shimmery White card stock and colored the entire panel with my Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend.  I added some Dark Daffodil Delight at the top and blended it part way down.  At the bottom, I started with my Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blend and then moved to the Light Old Olive as I moved up.  Finally, I blended over the Daffodil Delight/Old Olive boundary with the Light Daffodil Delight blend.

I used the low setting of my Heat Tool to thoroughly dry the panel (also used it on the back a little to un-curl-ify the panel), then I rubbed it with my Embossing Buddy.

With Versamark ink, I stamped a few flower images across the panel, plus some individual flowers and hearts, then sprinkled it all with my White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with the high setting on my Heat Tool.

Then I Fast Fuse’d it to an Old Olive mat.

I cut a Vellum card stock Starburst with the Starburst Punch and embossed in in the new Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF (this is coming in the second Sale-A-Bration release on 16 Feb and will be available FREE as part of the Blossoming Basket bundle with a $100 purchase!).  I also cut a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper circle with the new 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle punch from the Occasions Catalog. I used Liquid Glue to add them to the card front.

My sentiment, from Lovely Wishes, is stamped in Old Olive on Shimmery White and cut with the label die in the Petals & More Thinlits.  I popped it over the circles with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a Bille Moan bow with a length of Linen Thread and a length of Gold Metallic Thread and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  A few gold Metallic Enamel Shapes finished off the card front.

On the inside, I colored a swath with my Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend in the middle of Shimmery White panel.  Over that, I added a second Lovely Wishes sentiment and some of the flowers in Old Olive.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends swath and Old Olive Lovely Wishes flower on the front (don’t forget the plastic sheet from your Stamp-A-Ma-Jig!)…

…and I added a few more flowers in Old Olive to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love how the Stampin’ Blends created such a beautiful background for the white-embossed flowers from the Lovely Wishes stamp set!  The Lovely Wishes sentiments are general enough to make this card good for many occasions!  And – wow!  How cool is that new Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF?!?  That’s going to be a good one, y’all!  And – we’re going to see it again in the Annual Catalog in June!  Whoo-hoo!!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

We all know that Finn’s just a kid in a strange furry suit – one that come with a couple extra legs and no thumbs, right?

Well, like any kid, he’s got a hands-down-it’s-the-bestest-game-ever game.  Or the…if-I-was-on-a-desert-island-the-only-game-I’d-need game!

For him – that’s tug.  Or keep-away.  Okay – maybe it’s a toss up.

But, he’ll play tug until your arm is falling out the socket.

His latest favorite outdoor thing to tug is the horses’ catch rope.  It’s just a heavy-weight piece of braided nylon that we loop around the horses’ necks to take them out in the morning.  Soon as I’ve turned the last one out – usually Bo – he’s ready to rock.

Er…tug.

Let me tell you a secret, folks.  For a not-huge dog, he can do some serious serious tugging.  You’d best be braced and ready, cuz he plays this game for reals!

It’s a workout!

At least for me.  I’ve never gotten to the bottom of him yet – I always call it before he does!

Tough dude!
