Stampin’ Up! In the Trees for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! We’ve got a sketch challenge today – and it’s a nice clean design! – so be sure to check out all the ladies’ projects when you’re done here, won’t you?

I decided to ink up a new-to-me stamp set – called In The Trees – and give it a hand with some True Gentleman DSP.  I ended up with a birthday card that I think could go to a man or a woman.  Take a look-see:

And – here’s the sketch!

I started with one of my favorite DSP patterns – the plaid from the True Gentleman DSP – and matted it on Crushed Curry for the card front.  Then I cut a piece of Very Vanilla for the art/sentiment and matted it as well.

I stamped the pretty tree from In The Trees in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and let it dry really good.  Then I colored the leaves with my Light and Dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends and the trunk and branches with the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Blends.  And then I fussy cut that tree right outta that panel!

I stamped the hammock in Night of Navy on the panel so that it would “hang” from the tree on one end and off the panel on the other.  Then I stamped the hammock again on another design of the True Gentleman DSP and fussy cut, then adhered it over the stamped one with Liquid Glue.  The sentiment, from In The Trees, is stamped in Night of Navy.  I added some grass in Garden Green and Crushed Curry flowers across the bottom.

For the clouds, I inked the image in Night of Navy and stamped if off once on scrap paper, then stamped them a couple times without re-inking.  Then I made a couple more stamped-off-once Night of Navy clouds on Very Vanilla and fussy cut them.  I colored them all with the Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend – and used the Color Lifter to lighten up the middles.  Then I popped the two fussy cut clouds on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I Fast Fuse’s the matted panel onto the card front, and then popped the fussy cut tree on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To finish it all off, I adhered a True Gentleman Button with a Glue Dot, added a double bow of Linen Thread with a scrunched up Glue Dot – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from In The Trees in Night of Navy on a Very Vanilla panel.  Across the bottom are some more flowers and grass in Garden Green and Crushed Curry.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

The front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more In The Trees flowers and grass…

…and some more of the True Gentleman DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  In The Trees – what a wonderful tree image this is – especially when colored with the Stampin’ Blends!  And – I think, even with the flowers and the tiny bow – that this card could go to a man, don’t you think?  Hope you like!

Such a cute card. Love the whole layout and my favorite touch it the button and thread up in the tree. Adds the perfect touch!

  5. Fantastic card, Mary! Yes, man or woman, but I’m leaning toward man. Love that plaid! I really didn’t want this stamp set, but now? Jury is still out. I love what you did with it. Actually, I could just make one of each of what you do and be happy.

  6. What a lovely summer scene, I would love to climb in and rock the afternoon away, watching the cloud animals go by
