Stampin’ Up! Painted Happy Birthday Eclipse

Mornin’, y’all!  I hope you’re ready for the week!  I am – cuz the quicker we get thru this week – the quicker it’ll be OnStage Week.  And then the week after that is the last week here!  Whoo-hoo!!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me.  If not, but would like to watch the video on how to make this card, here’s the replay!

I used the Painted Harvest stamp set to lay down the background for this Eclipse-technique card and made it into a birthday card with the lovely Happy Birthday Thinlit.  Take a look-see:

It so happened that the TGIF challenge this week showcased the Eclipse Technique!

To begin the card, I made several flowers with the multi-step images from the Painted Harvest stamp set.  I used the larger – less detailed – image and stamped it two or three times (rotating between each stamp) in Lemon Lime Twist.  Then I used the second image in Dapper Denim.  I stamped that one twice per flower – rotating it a little – and I didn’t re-ink between stamps on the Dapper Denim.  The middle of each flower is stamped in Daffodil Delight – complete with little dots.

I added some more of the little dots around the flowers in Daffodil Delight.

Next, I embossed the panel in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF.

For the sentiment, I cut the Happy Birthday Thinlit die, offsetting it into the corner of the card.  IMPORTANT:  Save all the little cutout pieces!! 🙂

Then I matted the panel on Lemon Lime Twist card stock.

I cut three more of the Happy Birthday Thinlit shapes in Dapper Denim and stacked them all up using Liquid Glue.

Then comes the persnickety part.  Using Liquid Glue, I replaced all the little cut out pieces back onto the card front.  Take your time on this – it’s worth it in the end!  Here’s how it looks when all the pieces are back in:

Then I used more Liquid Glue and adhered the stacked sentiment.

I decided a few leaves were in order, so I stamped two of the detailed leaves from Painted Harvest in Lemon Lime Twist on some Vellum card stock.  When they were dry, I punched them out with the Leaf Punch and added them to the card front with a little Liquid Glue.  I made a Billie Moan bow from Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine and adhered it over the stems of the leaves with a Glue Dot.  Then I made a double Linen Thread bow and stuck that on top with another Glue Dot.   Finally, I added a Crushed Curry Glitter Enamel Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another Painted Harvest flower in Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist and Daffodil Delight to a Whisper White panel.  And I pulled a sentiment from the Hug in a Mug stamp set, stamping it in Dapper Denim.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and into my Dapper Denim card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Painted Harvest flower on the front…

…and another one on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The lady who asked for this card – for her mother – said she loves flowers and bright things.  I do think this qualifies, don’t you!?  I love the eclipse technique and really like how Painted Harvest works so beautifully with it.  Hope you like! 🙂

Finn-Fan Fix  (you’ll have to settle for re-runs until I get back home to take fresh photos!!)

Remember the days of yore when the Finny-Win had to be “tied” to the chair with his leash?  And remember that time he fell asleep chewing on a bone bigger than his head (used to be?)??

  1. Pretty card! Love this technique and you’ve used it perfectly! Great colors and great design! 🙂

  2. Barbara Riefner

When you get back, I want to see a picture of when Finn first sees you.

Loved your card, BTW. Watched last night. Always enjoy your Facebook demos!

    • LOL – hope I can take some pictures with a lap-full-o-dog!! I can hardly wait! Thanks so much, Barbara – glad you enjoyed the video!! We have a good time! 🙂

  3. Now I know what the little missing piece was…the dot of the “i”. I don’t remember seeing that pic of Finn so it was new to me. Your card was not new to me…it was fresh in my heart from last night. Great job on the video. You amaze me that you answer everyone’s comments after. Thank you for being you 🙂

  4. Beautiful, Mary, and excellent instructions. Just love the colors you used, too!

  5. Stunningly beautiful card! As I said last night, a special person should receive this one. It is not one you would send just to be tossed in the garbage! I am not ready for the details of that die, but might try some large letters soon. Thanks for the video last night.

    • Thanks so much, Julie! This one will go to my Mom – she won’t throw it away! 🙂 Do try this with the large letters – they’re a perfect place to start!! 🙂

  6. Kathy Beaver

Beautiful card, Mary. Love the non-traditional colors and how you did your bow.

  7. Beautiful card Mary! Loving the layering of the Dapper Denim and the Lemon Lime Twist for a goregous sunflower look. The partial stamping over the die cut is fabulous and doesn’t detract from the Eclipse layering. Thanks for playing along and supporting us at TGIF Challenges. Rochelle xo

  8. Wow your card is full of autumn awesomeness. I love your colors, but the twine and vellum leaves are such gorgeous elements! Thanks for joining along with our challenge at TGIF this week. Smiles, Elizabeth
