Stampin’ Up! Merry Cafe Pumpkin Latte – and an Anniversary!

Happy Monday, y’all!  Another week – and a one-day weekend are in the books!

If you were able to join me last night on my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me.  And, if not, if you want to take a gander at the replay – here’s a link to it on YouTube!

I pulled out the Merry Cafe stamp set – which is in the 2017 Holiday Catalog – and the Coffee Cups Framelits (which is in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog and is bundled with the Coffee Cafe stamp set) and used it to create a Fall card featuring pumpkins! As in….Pumpkin Spice Lattes!  Take a look-see:

I used the sketch challenge from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge to help me with the layout.

And I also played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.  I went across the top row and down the middle column! 😉

I made the card front from a piece of the Coffee Break DSP (which is one of the papers available as part of the DSP sale going on until the end of October!), Fast Fusing it to an Early Espresso mat.

Next up, I cut a strip of Gold Foil and used the cute little branch die in the Eclectic Layers Thinlits to emboss the image onto the Foil.  Cool, huh?

I used some Liquid Glue to adhere the embossed Gold Foil to the card front.  Over that is a piece of Wood Textures DSP, Fast Fuse’d to an Early Espresso mat and then onto the card front.

For the middle “window”, I used a square Stitched Shapes Framelits die to cut a square of Whisper White and then adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the coffee cup image from the Merry Cafe stamp set in Early Espresso on Whisper White and cut it out with it’s die from the Coffee Cups Framelits.  I colored it with the two Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends pens.  I also stamped a lid in Early Espresso, cut it out with its matching die and adhered it to the cup with Liquid Glue.

For the Merry Cafe sentiment, I inked Hello Fall in Early Espresso and the rest of the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie and stamped it on a scrap of Whisper White.  Then I cut it with the matching die, edged it with my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends Pen and adhered it to the cup.  Then I popped the whole thing on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used a Stampin’ Dimensional and some Liquid Glue to adhere a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  Then I pulled out my Pick a Pumpkin stamp set and stamped the pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie on Whisper White.  I fussy cut it – versus using the die in Patterned Pumpkins, cuz I didn’t want a white edge.  Then I stuck it onto the burlap ribbon with Liquid Glue.  I tied a bow from one length of Linen Thread and two of Gold Metallic Thread and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I cut a Gold Glimmer Paper swirl using the die in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits – I cut from the back of the Glimmer Paper to turn the “steam” around (check it out in the video) then adhered it with Liquid Glue.

Finally, I stamped the leaf image from Merry Cafe in Garden Green on Whisper White, filled it in with my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker and fussy cut them both.  I adhered them to the card with Liquid Glue and added a Pumpkin Pie Enamel Shape to the middle.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another pumpkin from the Pick a Pumpkin stamp set, and more of the leaves from Merry Cafe.  I even gave them a Pumpkin Pie Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Pick a Pumpkin and Merry Cafe images on the front…

…and more of the Coffee Break DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love a good Pumpkin Spice Latte – it’s one of those Good Things in the Fall.  Of course, these days, when every single calorie counts (grrrrrrrr), my lattes are best served in card stock and ink!  So the Merry Cafe stamp set – especially paired with the Coffee Cups Framelits! – does me quite well!  Hope you like!

Be sure to check out the DSPs for sale this month (buy-three-from-the-list-and-get-one-from-the-list-free….BTFTLGOFTLF??  🙂 ) – and grab this pretty paper plus the Be Merry DSP from the other day (you can see that one right here) and even the Painted Autumn DSP (check out a card using it here)!  It’s a super time to get stocked up!

Finn-Fan Fix  Anniversary Special!!

So…on this day, one year ago – Finn came into our lives as a 5 month old fur-baby and made his first appearance on my blog.  You can check out his “arrival” post here.

Remember when he was that little?!?  That’s a picture I took of him as we were bringing him home! 🙂  I’ve taken a lot – a LOT – more pictures of him since then.

I just went back and looked at some of those posts from October 2016 – he made me smile and chuckle all over again.

What a good day that was!!

  1. Such a pretty card Mary! Love the gold/glittery steam and the fall colors are perfect! Awww, Finn was so little back then…happy Dog-iversary! 🙂

  2. Happy Deatherage birthday, Finn! I went back and looked at October 2016 too. Cuteness personified. I can’t remember when I started following you, but I’m glad I did.

  3. Very cute card. I love that set and your pumpklns are super pretty! The embossed gold foil is a nice accent, too!

  4. Kate

Missed connection last night, so. Happy to see the whole thing. Nice.
Finn’s feet gave him away on that take-home day…oh-oh, I feel a poem comin’ on.

  5. Special day for a special Aussie and his family! Perhaps you could celebrate with a pumpkin spice latte? The real deal?
I love pumpkin, but I think the world is overdoing it a bit. Your card is very nice. I didn’t want to get this set before, but now I think it is a must!

  6. I love all the little details you added to your card, Mary. They really make this a standout. Thanks for joining the TTTC this week.

  7. Kathy L

Finally got to watch you tonight! We’re in a motel in Williams AZ, and we have Wi-Fi! I’m about as close to where you are as I’ll ever be, I bet. Super-duper card, and a bunch of laughs, too. Thanks.

    • HaHa – just a hop, skip and a jump! Thanks for taking the time to watch, Kathy! So glad that you enjoyed it. Safe travels! 🙂

  8. Elisha

I love this card! I think I’ll have to make it when I get back from Disney World:-) I so enjoyed Finn’s baby pictures – so CUTE!! And such a handsome boy now:-)

    • I know. He’s so handsome – and so sweet! I do miss the fuzzy-puppy stage! Thanks so much, Elisha – hope you’re having a wonderful time at Disney! 🙂

  9. Susan K

Was traveling yesterday so just catching up. Happy Anniversary to you and Finn–and Wayne. He sure has grown–they tend to do that. My son had a birthday a week ago and I asked how could he possibly be 37 and to quit advertising it! He redeems himself by having two beautiful girls and thus sweet grandchildren for us! Love that card as much as when I saw it live!

    • Well, if he was going to be so bold as to wantonly GROW UP – then it’s only fair that he give you two lovely grandbabies!! Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  10. What a gorgeous card! I love colours, image and paper you’ve used for your fall card. Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!
