Stampin’ Up! Pink Sunflowers Autumn Harvest for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop!

Good mornin’, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Knew team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month is Fall Frenzy!!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to see how everyone else see’s “Fall”, okay?

I feel a little bad making another card with the new Painted Harvest stamp set (avail 1 Sep) – I mean, I’ll get over it, but….still.  You can’t have it yet – so in a way it’s really kinda mean.

My bad.

Bwaaaahhhaaaahhaaaahaaa!

Of course I do know a way you could get it right now…but that’s for another time.  Unless you want to know now.  In which case – give me a shout!

So I drew some inspiration from two talented ladies for this one.  The first is my friend Linda – over at Cards By Winnie (she’s one of our hoppers today!) – who made a fun card with this set and she made pink sunflowers!  The second was made by the talented Su Mohr and her card (see it right here) inspired the layout.  Take a look-see at what popped out of my brain after these two inspirations.

Now before we go any further – I would never doubt my Master Gardener friend who told us that pink sunflowers do exist, but I knew all you doubting-Tomasina’s might…so I went to the Google and found…

Pretty, huh?

I played with a couple of challenges on this one.  The first, from Cupcake Inspirations, gave me my color scheme – and the two little hearts by the sentiment.

And – couldn’t resist, told you I love Tic-Tac-Toe challenges!! – I played across the top this time at the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge.

I started with a Whisper White panel and stamped 3 of the pretty sunflowers from Painted Harvest in Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink.  I stamped the inside part of the flower in Flirty Flamingo and the outside in Powder Pink.  Then I added the centers in Chocolate Chip ink.

The sentiment, also from Painted Harvest, is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.  Then, I matted the panel on Early Espresso card stock with Fast Fuse.

Using the largest circle die in the Stitched Shapes Framelits, I cut the circle from the matted panel.  I laid the rest of the panel where it belonged on the front of my Powder Pink card base.  Then I put some Liquid Glue on the back of the circle and carefully laid it in place inside the hole – making sure to line up the flowers.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the card front – making sure to get some near the edge of the circle to support it – and adhered it in place on the card base.

To finish it off, I added a couple of gold hearts from the Metallics Sequin Assortment – using a little dab of Liquid Glue.  I toyed with adding a third, cuz…you know… “the rule” – but decided that it looked just right with two.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

On the inside, I stamped the second sentiment from Painted Harvest in Chocolate Chip in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Over that I repeated my Flirty Flamingo and Powder Pink sunflower.  I like how the words in the sentiment ended up sort of spot-lighted by the open center of the flower!

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into the Powder Pink card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Painted Harvest sunflower on the front…

…and a veritable field of pink sunflowers on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I’ve never personally seen a pink sunflower – but my Master Gardener and the Google do not lie!  I even brought photographic evidence!  And – I’m betting they come in all sorts of colors (my friend said so!!) – which means that you can play with the Painted Harvest stamp set and it’s matching Leaf Punch – all year round!  Hope you like!

  1. Well, this doubting Tomasina is now a believer. I am also a firm believer in Rorschach so I see a pink dog with two eyes and a nose. No, I won’t put up a photo of a pink poodle; but if you Google it, you will see what I’m sayin’ here! I think they could have been sewn on “poodle skirts”. Seriously, your card is quite pretty and very unique. I will receive my set on Thursday if the brown truck doesn’t disappoint. Have a great day and I’m off to the hop…see what I did there? 😉

  2. So pretty Mary! Love the pink sunflowers…and of course I believe you that they’re real! 🙂 Cool inlaid circle too, great use of that stamp set!
